are there even any ic laws surrounding gambling? at this point it feels like las vegas because there's barely any taxes, you walk into a casino with 50k on hand and walk out with 500k a couple hours later

Stricter realism within Casinos is all I ask for. Enforce "max bet caps" and make sure that people enter a table with the appropriate amount of chips.

Why do PRIVATE poker games have higher standards than legitimate casinos, in the first place? I'd rather attend Don Spaghetti's apartment poker game than a casinos due to it's realism. Don Spaghetti says $20,000 is the table limit? Everyone shows up at the table with $20,000. A state-sanctioned casino, on the other hand? Nothing's enforced.

This will solve itself with the cash update. if people can get cleaned out for the 300 000 they bring to the table then they'll stop pretty quickly.

People don't just walk in and out of casinos carrying suitcases full of cash, though. Realistically, you can exchange chips for money electronically. The problem is I haven't seen casinos properly RPing chips, either.

Very true! And in an ideal world what I personally would like is a rework that introduces a Chip item linked to a certain casino business, and give the various gambling scripts the option to use that instead of cash.

As a person who is a manager at a casino OOCly, I find casinos ig shallow at best.

I wonder if that opinion has something to do with you being a manager OOCly instead of actually role playing

Horribly portrayed. You can walk into a casino and /examine half the people there who are usually alts who have 13-15 years old in their examine, gambling away tens of thousands of dollars because there's no actual regulation to gambling in-character. The security guard at the door likely has "Good evening, $600 for entry." on keybind, followed by "/me takes the cash and opens the door." also on keybind because there's no comprehensive ID checking, to the casino you are simply $$$$ to them.

Nobody knows how to roleplay a gambling addiction, how destructive it can be. I've dealt cards before in-character and seen people lose literally millions to the 'house' and they don't seem to care IC when they're probably dying inside OOC.

And don't let me forget about Poker. Poker on this server is basically three rich truckers with half a million in cash on them for a $1,000 dollar big blind where they can simply just bully the other players off the table that don't have nearly as close to that amount on them.

People go all-in with $25,000 and lose it all, do /sa and literally walk out with no roleplay. Better yet, I've seen people make extremely poor decisions IC whilst gambling and decide to straight up ALT-F4 after they've lost all of their money.

People leave the game mid hand and claim it was an accident when they've made a poor judgment call IC just to get their money back.

The ATM runs are also stupid. You can get somebody who walks into a casino, loses all their money, stands up, runs outside to the closest ATM just to rinse and repeat until they're dead broke.

Not to mention that gambling can indeed facilitate asset transferring so much easier. Example: Two friends on discord call can enter the poker room, they both sit down, player one raises a ridiculous amount and everyone folds except their friend. One of the friends go all-in, lose their money to their friend and that's a legitimate method people can use to asset transfer without people noticing. I've seen it so many times where someone will go all-in with $300,000 on a Jack High... for no reason.

Sorry, but the only place to accurately represent a casino true to life would be The Diamond.

If the poker script could enforce maximum buy-ins - or chip balances it'd be way better.   Right now every time I've tried to RP in one it's turned into a game of Zynga Poker on facebook with people putting in 10k before the flop to buy the $150 in blinds.

I stopped playing poker after I had more than one character because of this.

I love playing it, but as it is now it does feel more like an OOC game.

The table creator can set a buy-in limit, casinos really need to use it.

More realism in general would be nice to see, I've never been to a casino that doesn't offer free alcohol either, have not seen that portrayed IC yet.
