How can I promote a dying business?

Hello there, I'm making this thread to attempt to understand how to make my business more active.

I run a gym, a pretty big one ( 120k in furniture ) , in a very nice area ( Rockford Hills ) yet, I fail to get even 5 customers per opening. I've been starting to believe that people aren't really interested in gyms. Take in mind I've been owning this gym across 2 characters, it was first ran on my illegal char, on which I ran a faction, and the gym was used as a HQ, we had more customers, but at the same time, it was thanks to the faction members that brought their friends.

On this char, I can barely get it moving. I can't get cage fights going, can't get yoga classes going, can't do private training, nothing, because I barely have any clients.

I cannot find any chars that workout anywhere, I've been able to find 2-5 regulars that based their characters around fitness, but that's about it. I feel like it's a dying breed of roleplay.

Several people have told me that it's because I open when casinos, bars, cafes, etc open up, I guess this could be a possibility.  When I owned my cafe, everyone was attracted to it, filling the place up in under 30 minutes, ( even though I don't understand the appeal behind cafes. )

How could I make my business more community-engaging?

Thank you in advance.

Well to be honest I don't usually rp at gyms. Cafes, bars or clubs are good excuses for people who just want to socialize in a cosy environment.

A gym makes more sense within a faction, so people will go because they want to rp with the faction. The working out RP per se is more niche in my opinion.

Just get employees in different timezones and ensure near 24/7 openings. Also maybe make it an unmanned gym so it can just be open 24/7 anyways, collect memberships give out member keycards so people can access it while it's closed etc

It's probably a lot to do with the fact that there is no script benefit of attending a gym, and so many people simply won't go. Why go when there's no benefit to their characters?

I'll keep an eye out for your gym though as my character needs to get his ass back to one.

It's hard for me to find employees who want to work in the gym first, and I already do memberships. I'll look into the rest, though! Thanks for the tips.

Consider hiring someone IC to promote and build a brand for your gym. Besides IG /ad-s, there isn't too much to know about gyms in LS. Also, if you're charging monthly payments, are you actually providing them 24/7 access to the property? Provide different services. Massage, pool area, physio etc. Nowadays, memberships should provide more than just access to weights. Ultimately, start pushing out content for forum and Facebrowser. Create events, organize group trainings and always inform people in advance not through /bad 30 minutes before opening. I'm going through IC advertising sections and can barely find anything gym related.

It is either near 24/7 coverage or specializing in (small) events. In case of a gym, the first things coming up my mind would be classes and courses. Zumba, Yoga and other classes down to competitions such as body building, fights, etc. that are held regularly.

From what you've wrote down there above I see that you are focusing on money and government "pay-checks". The main issue that you are complaining here on forums while trying to seek new "ways" of promotion and "visibility" instead of providing some kind of value.

Creating value for the community shouldn't be an afterthought but a core business strategy.

Greetings,

I'm in no way focusing on money.

What I am saying is that if no one comes, or only 4 people come, I'm not able to organize any roleplay. If I had been focusing on money, I would've sold the gym a long time ago. I've never cared about money and I won't start now. I want to provide roleplay, "value" as you say, but I simply cannot without visibility and anyone attending. I got trainers, yoga teachers, reception workers and bartenders on standby because no one comes, yet we strive forward since we do not care about income. We just want people to come.
