Marcus, since a young age idolized his brother's reckless lifestyle, often reciprocating his actions whether it be in school or within the community around Bridge Street. Marcus' mom, Gloria Espinoza, was a telemarketer for a large scale corporation while his father worked at Marcus' school as the head of janitorial services. In 2018, both of Marcus' parents were on their way home from a parent-teacher interview held by the school annually. His parents were arguing with one another, as per usual, resulting in a lack of attention directed to the road. A drunk driver had collided with his parents' car, causing a massive accident on West Mirror Drive. Both of his parents were pronounced deceased after being rushed to the hospital, leading to Marcus' brother - who was 18 at the time - being forced to step up into a parental role. Marcus' brother was forced into working both a day and night job in order to financially support himself and his brother. The duo barely managed to pay Marcus' school fees alone, without consideration of the additional costs of living they had both incurred. The duo had then moved in with their abuela, who had kindly offered to house and take care of them both. Marcus had resorted to the local gang, namely El Monte Flores, in order to provide himself with a sense of family. He had forced himself into developing a tough demeanour, however his actions would be largely dependent on the amount of people that could back him up.
