Monday (March 29, 2021) at 20:33 the Los Santos Fire Department received multiple distressed nine-one-one calls and was dispatched to the area of Vespucci, Magellan Avenue for a fully involved apartment complex fire and reports of explosions. Shortly after, Los Santos Sheriff's Department units were first to arrive on scene and quickly sent an urgent departmental radio message to our Dispatcher, confirming the seriousness of the situation.

Two deputies, later identified as Deputy Orzechowski and Sergeant Valdez heroically approached the building that was on fire and started evacuating the building and it's surrounding, ensuring nobody was inside by knocking on each apartment door and moving crowds to a safe distance before the start of the explosions, retracting as soon as the fire got too hot. A multitude of Engine companies (including volunteer activations), a Ladder Truck, Rescue Ambulance, Battalion Chief, State Fire Marshals, Public Information Officer and Lifeguards arrived to the complex fire.

All of the companies were split into groups, each tasked with a primary search, ventilation, exterior attack and rescue intervention team. After a full search around each of the apartment complexes, exterior and surrounding of the building. The Fire Department concluded that there were no casualties, thanks to the quick thinking of the two deputies from the Los Santos Sheriff's Department. Within the hour, a full knockdown was confirmed by the incident commander Fire Chief Randy Sikes.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has prepared an early statement in regards to their investigation into the causes of the complex fire:

State Fire Marshal's Office - Official Statement
At 20:34 on the 29th March 2021, the Office of the State Fire Marshal was notified of a fire on Magellan Avenue and Vitus Street, Vespucci.

The fire involved an entire apartment block and multiple explosions occurred on the scene. It was therefore the priority of the State Fire Marshal, alongside the Los Santos Sheriff's Department, to evacuate the immediate vicinity to prevent any injury or danger to human life.
After the fire had been knocked down, the Office of the State Fire Marshal concluded that the fire was wholly accidental, related to a domestic accident in which there was a gas leak from an oven. We are therefore not treating this incident as suspicious.

Assistant Chief Fire Marshal Jordan Wright wishes to send his praise to the two Deputies of the LSSD, on patrol in Vespucci, who bravely evacuated the burning apartment block - thanks to them, it can fortunately be reported that there are no casualties related to the fire.

The structure fire rendered the entire structure on Magellan Avenue inhabitable and to assist all the residence, the Los Santos Fire Department will provide as much assistance as possible to render aid in the restoration of the apartment complex. The Los Santos Fire Department would also like to affirm and stands behind the praises sent by the State Fire Marshals to the two deputies whom assisted in the evacuation of the apartment complex.

Comment: The immense amount of bravery it takes for you and your partner to run into an actively burning with no protective gear on shouts going above and beyond in the name of preserving life. Amazing job to those two deputies and as well as all that were involved.
