CLUB HISTORY

The Great Western Club and Golfing Society or GWC Los Santos was founded in 1992 by a group of amateur golfers from New York. They purchased 184 acres of rolling, forest ground on the outskirts of Los Santos. They gave Harold Rowmann the opportunity to design the course. This was Rowmann’s first and only golf course design, but he brought together renowned architects such as A.D. Johnson, George C. Travis and J.M. Colt to help create the course. In the summer of 1994, the first 12 holes of the course were opened .Due to the death of Rowmann, the final 6 holes were left unfinished.

During the late 90s and early 00s, GWC Los Santos was surrounded by the newly built neighborhoods of Rockford Hills, Morningwood and Richman. Making it the only city golf course in San Andreas.

In 2002 the board of GWC Los Santos voted to remove holes 10, 11 and 12 to make room for the famous clubhouse. Although this was a controversial decision at the time, it is regarded as a significantly better decision nowadays, as GWC Los Santos is known for their prestigious clubhouse and facilities.

In 2004 GWC Los Santos was the scene of the U.S. Open. They were the first San Andreas club to host the prestigious event. In 2003, GWC Los Santos was the scene of the second U.S Open in its history. Since the 1990s GWC Los Santos has been the host to the San Andreas Open.

A guideline to RP the game.

Section 1: Foreword

Although we do not have a functioning golf script, we’ve come up with a simple yet fun RP version to be played with the use of /roll.
It's not ideal, it's got its flaws, it might be too slow for some of you, it's simply a loose framework that you may use if you want to RP the game.

This thread will document both the rules for the game as well as some RP guidelines we’ll enforce to preserve immersion.

Section 2: Dresscode

Before jumping into the basics of the game, we’ll first cover acceptable clothing that can be worn on the course. While this might seem trivial to some, golf is a sport with its own unique fashion and it's something we’d like to preserve in game.

Men are required to wear a golf shirt (Polo) with collar, golf slacks or appropriately length shorts. Jean shorts, cargo shorts and shorts with unreasonable colors or patterns are not allowed.
Women are required to wear regular or sleeveless golf shirts, golf pants or appropriately lengthened shorts or skirts. Tank tops are not allowed.

Section 3: Vehicles and items

We’ve been fortunate enough to receive some exclusive items and vehicles to assist with our RP. Golf clubs can be purchased from the club by contacting club management. Golf carts are available to all members and can be found in the back left parking lot behind the clubhouse.

Section 4: How to play

Playing golf is fairly simple. Each hole has been overlaid and numbered with a grid. You’ll use this grid, combined with /roll to determine where your ball lands after each shot.

In this example we’ll be using hole #1

Step 1: Stand in the Tee-Box and RP your first swing, rolling twice to determine your initial swing. In the case of hole #1 we’ll /roll 2-16 for distance and 1-4 for width.

(For distance, we start from 2 instead of 1 because the box is already on the edge of the first grid.)

If our ball lands off outside of the fairway, for the sake of pace players will hit from the nearest grid to their initial hit. For example if, if I hit 5 for distance and hit 1 for width my next swing I would hit from grid 5-1 (D/W). You may RP'ly head at the location on your turn.

Step 2: When taking your second or next swing, you may change the lower distance limit of your roll range.
In our example 5-1 (D/W), we’d roll only for the distance we still have from us to the hole. Using the same example that means, since we're already on the 5th column, we would /roll 6-16 for distance & 1-4 for width as usual.

Step 3: Once on the green, players will use /coinflip to determine the success of their putt.

Credits to @Trupiano for the idea.

Numbered Holes for reference.

The Los Santos Golf and Country Club is not a traditional faction nor business. Our OOC goal in the simplest terms is to create a hub for the servers powerful and wealthy, a place where business, pleasure and backroom dealings blend together into one. This is not your traditional business which operates on regular openings but instead an RP hub for characters who’s stature or prestige alienates them from most other places on the server. Open and free to them for use whenever they see fit.

To do justice to such an exclusive property, one of our responsibilities is to ensure all the members have a realistic background to check out as members. This is why, unlike traditional factions on the server LSGCC is only recruiting existing characters for membership. With time, memberships will be handed out on referral basis only, you will have a chance to interact with the existing members during our public events. But all in all, what we're looking for is essentially fitting characters. Characters based around politics, organized crime, business and law is what our current memberbase consists of, and these are the circles it will mostly expand around. So if you're willing to get involved as a member, be mindful and ask yourself if you really fit in before bothering. If leisure is all you seek, and your character doesn't have anything to do with golf, we may not be the right fit for your character.

The thread will be updated further in the coming week.
