Asian Boyz, commonly referred to as ABZ, AB-26, 1226 or Asian Boyz Crips is a modern-day street gang, whose roots date as far back as the early 1990s. Asian Boyz was founded by young Asian immigrants as a way to defend themselves from racial attacks, discrimination and other established gangs that preyed on them. The majority of the membership consists of Cambodian immigrants as well as a significant number of Filipino, Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian races, who seeked shelter in the United States due to the political instability in Southeast Asia in the mid-1970s. Most of the Cambodian families had fled in the midst of the Cambodian genocide, when the Communist Party of Kampuchea, also known as ‘Khmer Rouge’ took over the country and enforced an extreme version of agricultural-based communism upon the country, killing over two million Cambodian residents in the span of 4 years. This heavily spiked the immigration rate from Southeast Asia into the United States, withmany  still immigrating even after the political situation in the country had settled. Although Asian Boyz comprise their own identity as an organization, the identity itself is largely regarded as an umbrella of individual Crip gangs or "sets", hence their alternative monikers "Asian Crips'' and "Asian Boyz Crip".

‘‘Asian Boyz gangs developed throughout the country, especially along the West Coast and in the Midwest. As of recent reports, Asian Boyz has become one of the more violent gangs encountered by criminal justice professionals. Many members use blue-colored railroad handkerchiefs as part of their attire. The gangs make money by committing street crimes and seek to enhance their reputation within the gang subculture. Their activities range fromlow-level drug dealing and robbery, to assault, extortion, witness intimidation and murder for hire.  Many of the crimes committed by Asian Boyz are crimes of opportunity. The leadership is fluid. The gangs may also have an affiliate female gang known as the Asian Chicks, often known to carry contraband, including guns.’’

The Vespucci-based W/S Asian Boyz gang was founded by William Yym, who was seen as a key figurehead of the gang until early 2015, when he was arrested on the counts of murder and possession of a several automatic weapons, alongside a considerable amount of narcotics found in his property during a search warrant served following his arrest. Yym is now serving a 29-year sentence in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility under strict supervision due to his position in the gang.

The Asian American demographic has had the lowest incarceration rate in the United States, making them a minority in the penitentiary system. This causes them to belong to what is commonly referred to as the ‘Other Car’, which houses Asians amongst other races which do not fall under the white, black or Hispanic category. They do not pay anyone for protection in the penitentiary system, however, they are known to stand their ground despite being heavily outnumbered. In spite of the Asian Boyz associations to the Crip faction, they have little involvement with each other in the prison system and are generally involved with their own race.

During Yym’s incarceration, the street gang was in dire need of new leadership. Two emerging figures in the gang, representing the new generation of Asian Boyz Crips, Ricky ‘Razor’ Thyan and Jaden ‘Droopy’ Ngoan were quick to rise in terms of respect, however, their surge had come to an abrupt end when both of them had been arrested in 2016, a couple of months apart. Ngoan was caught as a result of a small-time investigation into his endeavours, specifically the assault of a middle-aged male at a gas station.. Several months later, he was pulled over while in possession of a firearm and narcotics; he had declined the search of his vehicle, however, after a probable-cause search with a K9 unit, the substances were quickly detected under the passenger seat. Jaden was arrested pending trial, at which he was ultimately found guilty of all charges and sentenced to six years in a Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Ricky Thyan was caught months later after an incident that escalated into the stabbing of a 18-year old white male. The weapon in question was found not far from the scene of the incident, with Thyan’s fingerprints on it.. He was then arrested and found guilty on all charges.

Present day

Jaden Ngoan was released on parole in October, 2020. With the majority of the old members being either dead or incarcerated, Ngoan returned to only a few familiar faces, and without any interest in becoming a law-abiding citizen, it was not long before he once again engaged in illicit activities to sustain his livelihood. As of early 2021, Jaden had already established himself as a key gangland figure once more, and with his partner-in-crime having been released on parole in March 2021, the two went back to scheming. Without its key figureheads the gang was all over the place, while still active their presence was definitely not as big as it once was but with the two senior figures making their return to the streets it’s likely to change.

Out of Character

The group intends to realistically portray the Asian Boyz Crips set located in California and would be serving as its IC counterpart. The faction aims to keep a high roleplay standard and keep portrayal as our utmost priority with members of the factions being kept to the highest of standards when it comes to adhering to the rules, portrayal, and roleplay quality. We will always prioritize portrayal and development over action-filled scenarios which would not benefit either side. Everyone interested in joining or interacting with the faction will be held to a high roleplay standard and is expected to do their own fair share of research on the culture and information related to the gang.

Upon joining the faction or posting on the faction thread you consent to be Character Killed (CK) at any given time if the leadership deems it necessary. Character Kills will be an absolutely last resort as we do not want disregard and throw away months of development over minor mistakes.
