Nathan Arias is a 17 year old mixed White and Hispanic teen from Vespucci. Born to a 3rd generation mexican father and a white mother, his life's been a on-going cycle of abuse. His mother abused crack cocaine while pregnant and Nathan was born prematurely at Davis Central Hospital. He was kept in the NICU for two months after a CPS investigation on his parents, after which he was sent back home. He was born with deficits in cognitive peformance, information processing and as he'd find out further down the line, behavioral problems. His first few years of his life were mostly neglectful rather than downright abusive. Many a times he'd find himself unattended for an entire day before he was even five years old, his father either out gambling, drinking or on very rare occassions working, while his mother was consuming or in the process of consuming crack. His mother only momentairily stopped abusing crack cocaine, her vice picking back up by the time Nathan was three years of age. Her drug abuse and his father's gambling and alcohol addiction led to a huge financial struggled that persisted for many years to come. Throughout elementary school, Nathan became his parents ' stress relief with physical and psychological abuse being a daily occurance.

At the age of eleven, Nathan's bottled up trauma led to him having only two ways of expressing himself: violence and graffiti, a passion he'd discovered by drawing in the back of his notebooks while in classes he was simply unable to understand. He developed a mistrust that grew into hate for authority, all stemming from his parents and teachers. For years CPS would launch an investigation on his parents but through manipulation, persuasion and intimidation either Nathan or the CPS workers would be convinced to drop the case. Although not completely devoid of love, Nathan's upbringing led him to believing any act of love or appreciation would not go unpunished.

By this point, Nathan found himself not compatible with the education system, the people working in it or his peers. He quickly cliqued up with local troublemakers of a similar background and attitude with who he formed a Bay City Avenue based tag crew named Let Them Know. As with most tag crews, the group of kids and teenagers started out with acts of vandalism, petty theft and just generally being a nuisance, their egos and disregard for personal safety led to them being in conflict with numerous other similar crews. Over the course of the next three years, LTK, which began adopting numerous other names such as Leave Trash Kryin, Loadin The Klip and Love To Kill turned into a tag banging crew that had no qualms with commiting acts of violence and even murders. By this point, most of the teenagers had at least some connection to the local Culver City 13 gang. The most infamous conflict was the one between LTK and MIH (Making It Happen / Made In Hell) that dragged on for more than a calendaristic year and led due at least four homicides and dozens of arrests.

While Nathan went down this dark path, his family didn't just idly watch. Unaware or at least refusing to acknowledge that they were the reason their son began a life of crime, they doubled down on their abuse. But as time went on, they found that their grasp on their only child was seemingly dissipating. While before a beating would calm him down for at least a number of days, now he'd simply sneak out after the fact and sometimes not come back home for days, toying with their pride.

This all climaxed when Nathan was fourteen. Fed up with the constant disrespect and total disregard for their authority, Nathan's parents, also fueled by a crack-cocaine binge, descended upon their own son with a flury of aggression he'd never seen before. In fact, it led to him being hospitalized. His parents were wary of taking him to a hospital as that would almost guarantee a CPS investigation and the only reason they did in fact go through with it was Nathan's rapidly deteriorating health. After undergoing surgery for two broken ribs, a fractured arm and displaced jaw, Nathan was unsurprisingly approached by CPS yet again. This time, every party involved knew that proving their guilt was beyond easy. But for whatever reason, Nathan stuck to a story that completely uninvolved his parents, even painted them in a good light. CPS had to shut down the investigation and after weeks of recovery, Nathan was discharged..

On his arrival, he found his life changed. His parents had begun fearing him, especially after he approached affiliaties of the CCB13 gang he'd known for years and demanded a chance to prove himself. On their behest, Nathan was the shooter in the gangland killing of a rival gang member as he left a liquor store in Vespucci. As promised, he was put on shortly after. A year later he was arrested on a aggravated assault and battery charge after a methamphetamine fueled fight outside a local bar. He was sentenced to sixteen months but only spent eleven before returning home
