Security Considerations and Operational Growth Prompts IMEX Logistics Relocation

Los Santos, San Andreas, Release: June 9, 2021.

IMEX Logistics, a leading logistics provider in Los Santos is excited to announce a major relocation to larger and more secure facilities at IMEX Plaice Place Station, in Elysian Island, Los Santos, San Andreas.

The massive relocation project comes on the heels of an unprecedented focus of violence and crime in Elysian Island and upon the company which lasted close to two months. This upsurge of lawlessness spurred the Port Authority to turn to the LSSD for support, and saw an increased presence of members of both the LSSD and LSPD in the island. "All of this forced us to look for options to leave Elysian Island altogether. But that would mean losing our close relationships with the Police Officers and Sheriff's Deputies who now regularly patrol the island," the IMEX CEO, Aurora McCorkle, wrote to company employees on Tuesday night. "It'd mean leaving an industrial community comprising of our arch-rival Bluewater, the hall of the ILWU, and the head office of the Port Authority. It'd mean leaving the bright, beautiful shore and the fresh breeze of the sea. It'd mean we'd have allowed ourselves to be run-out by criminals and scumbags that wished to hurt us. It wouldn't have been right."

The move is a significant step for the two-year-old company, which had been seated at La Mesa Terminal before it moved to Elysian Island in December. At its former headquarters, operations at IMEX were hindered by security considerations, a lack of space for company vehicles, and no covered garage for the fleet. "At PPS, we'll have facilities to expand our offices. We'll actually have a room to store our fleet under a roof, and enough space outside to park it. We'll have internal space for maintenance bays, and a company warehouse to store equipment and goods waiting for transport. We'll be protected behind a sturdy fence and a single entrance we can guard," explained McCorkle. "This won't solve our security problems, but it gives us more options, and helps us grow and mature as a company."

With the effort of over 1500 drivers and staff, over the course of two years IMEX has gone from a family business to one of the state's leading logistical companies. It is hoped that the expansion into Plaice Place Station will lead to more opportunity for the firm, as it looks to diversify its portfolio, and look for more cost effective and efficient ways of delivering logistical solutions to clients. The relocation has been a longtime in the making for the trucking firm, and forms a key part of its mission of continued growth and sustainability. Taking pride in it's "less company more community" philosophy, the drivers and staff of IMEX plan to renovate and reconstruct their new facilities at IMEX Plaice Place Station. In the words of the CEO, "We just need time to settle in and make it our own. For the next while things'll be cramped, messy, and disorganized, but we'll sort it all out in the end."

IMEX Motorsports meets adversity head-on in its first live-track practice session of the SAASCAR season.

Los Santos, San Andreas, Release: June 15, 2021.

IMEX Motorsports, a subsidiary of IMEX Logistics, took part in its first SAASCAR practice session at Vinewood Racetrack, on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

On Saturday, June 12, IMEX Motorsports participated in its first SAASCAR practice session at Vinewood Racetrack. The session was slated by league organizers as the last practice in which all teams would be able to assemble together at once, conducting trial runs, simulated qualifying sets, and practicing pitstops on a live track.

In her official recap of the event, emailed to the team the following day, IMEX Motorsports Crew Chief, Jessie Rice, commended her team saying, "Thanks to you, IMEX had — by far — the best-staffed showing at the raceway! We proved to the other teams that, when it's time to 'come correct', we come together as a community. By having so many people in the field, it was also a good chance to stress-test a lot of crucial things prior to race day."

IMEX Motorsports members were the first on the track and the first to have their cars ready to practice. The day was not without adversity, however, as IMEX driver, Blake Blackburn was involved in a horrific multiple roll-over incident deep in turn 3, when his red and white Bravado Gauntlet, affectionately known as "Yeti", was clipped by another car and sent hurtling into the wall.

Rice recounted that "Despite Blake having an inside line, and all teams being prohibited from engaging in competitive race-style contact during practice, Syndicate drivers clipped our car and sent Blake flying in a multiple rollover accident." An official SAASCAR debrief, submitted by SAASCAR President Michael Peretti on June 12 ruled that a "possible illegal maneuver" performed by the Syndicate Motorsports car may have caused the crash but that "no further investigation is needed due to the lack of evidence".

A preliminary condition inspection of the stricken Gauntlet, dated June 12, estimated the repair and rebuilding costs at over $50,000. "SAASCAR regulations require installation of a 450 cu in. V-8 with [a] league-mandated performance package to insure compliance. This will necessitate identifying an appropriately serialized block, along with supercharger and turbocharger."

According to the IMEX Motorsports Crew Chief, Yeti was "catastrophically damaged from this accident", with an estimated 350 person-hours of work needed to bring it back into racing condition. "As a team, we'll have a critical decision to make on how to go forward," wrote Rice to her IMEX Motorsports teammates. "Do we try to rebuild the car, or do we consider it non-salvageable and proceed with shipping a new Gauntlet and modifying it this week."

IMEX Logistics is no stranger to adversity, overcoming continuous obstacles in its two year trek. In her IMEX Motorsports inaugural address on May 29, IMEX Logistics CEO Aurora McCorkle wrote that "No other trucking company has gone through what we've gone through in the last year. We've lost close coworkers and dear friends but we will never forget them. We've rebranded but we've never lost our identity. We've fractured and frayed but we've forgiven one another and've come back stronger. We've endured leadership vacuums and ownership changes but we've never wavered and lost our way. We've moved locations but we've never forgotten who we are. We've repainted our trucks, from pure white to proud red, but we've always been the same. We're the best truckers in the region and we'll be the best team in the league."

With less than a week till race day on Saturday afternoon, the members of IMEX Motorsports plan to meet further adversity head-on, overcoming even more obstacles.

Farewell to a friend!

Email to employees: June 22, 2021.

IMEX Logistics CEO Aurora McCorkle comments on the departure of CSO Chris Haynes.

Hi everyone. Last week one of the longest serving members of the company, and one of the leaders of our community, stepped back from operations. Chris Haynes resigned from his role as Chief Strategy Officer, a post he's held since not long after we became independent last Winter.

Chris first joined us way back on October 4, 2020. I actually hired him myself! I can still remember our interview — how he was almost bouncing out of his seat after I told him of the opportunities available to him as a member of the company — particularly the Human Resources Department. As it went, Chris earned the role of Supervisor in about two weeks. Probably the shortest span of time I've ever seen in my career!

Chris immediately took on a leadership role with the company, and playing fundamental part in keeping the company together in the Fall and early Winter months. It was a brutal time for our community back then. We'd just lurched into the Fall after a massive leadership change at the end of Summer, and we were bleeding burned-out disheartened employees in droves. There were fractures between coworkers and fights between friends, all while we were being squeezed between waves of crime and smothered by overly aggressive competition.

I think I've lost all hope maybe twice in my career, both during that Fall, where I told my boss, Richard Davis, that I couldn't go on. The last time was during a night in which no IMEX drivers hit the road. It was the end of bad week for the company, and I was alone, standing in front of a completely empty employee parking lot with the entire snow-white IMEX fleet sitting before me like silent ghosts. I stood there isolated for maybe hours, throwing out advert and advert, but no one called me back, and no Driver came to work, and when it started to rain I gave up inside.

And that's when Chris came past. I'm not sure how well I knew Chris then, but I blurted out to him that it was all over: that I felt in my heart we were spent, and there was no point. But he reassured me it would be OK, that he'd take care over for the rest of the night, and that tomorrow'd be another day. I didn't believe him, but I didn't have the will to argue. Chris took the company upon his shoulders that night and... in effect, helped to carry us from that point onward, putting his heart, body, and soul towards the community. He propped us up when we faltered, cleared the way when our leadership was lost and uncertain, and bridged gulfs when we nearly ripped ourselves apart.

I can't remember Chris ever losing his cool at the workplace. He led by example and stood by his principles of respect and responsibility. He always held the community close to his heart and I know he always will. He may be stepping back, but it's with pride at what we've become. Chris' part in the story of our community is colossal, and although his part in our saga has formally come to an end, he'll always be with us in spirit, and the epic of IMEX will continue because of him.

Aurora.

Humad Adam and IMEX Motorsports keep on trucking to seize inaugural SAASCAR race at Vinewood Racetrack

Los Santos, San Andreas, Release: July 5, 2021.

IMEX Motorsports driver Humad Adam wins the first race of the SAASCAR season at Vinewood Racetrack, whilst teammate Benjamin Lucas seizes pole position.

San Andreas racing fans upon on an old-school "rock em sock em" stock car race at Vinewood Racetrack on Saturday. IMEX Motorsports was represented by Benjamin Lucas, driving the Bravado Gauntlet affectionately known as "Rocky", and Humad Adam, driving "Nintendo".

The eventual champion on the day nearly missed making it to track on time, clearing the gate by mere seconds as eight pitcrews put finishing touches on cars and eighteen drivers suited up for the day's practice session. In a scene that harkened back to the good old days of "door-banging action", Adam had no choice but to change into his racing gear inside the IMEX Gauntlet.

IMEX Motorsports dominated Saturday's qualifying session, locking out the front row with their red and white cars, as Lucas narrowly edged-out Adam for the pole position. Starting their qualification laps near the mid of the pack, Lucas and Adam were initially uncertain about their times, with Lucas letting his crew know that his nerves were kicking in. However, when SAASCAR President Michael Peretti accounted that IMEX had locked the leading spots, the team's pitbox erupted with a roar of elation and exhilaration. According to race officials, Lucas clocked a flying lap of 29.739 seconds and Adam was locked-in at 29.868.

Expectations of the IMEX team skyrocketed as the race approached, with Lucas telling LSNN reporter Carry Saunders "First of all, thanks to everyone watching. And, well, we're all very hyped for this moment. It's a new experience for us and we expect a clean race."

"We aim for a good result, we have the toughest of opponents out there," commented Lucas. "But a podium is our goal, for sure."

Although a podium was in the cards for IMEX, things were far from certain throughout the affair. IMEX driver Lee Williams was an unexpected no-show, leaving the team with only two cars, and the race was marred with crashes and pile-ups, resulting in numerous red and yellow flags.

The race was the first of the season for SAASCAR, a spirited league founded by Peretti in an attempt to introduce a fresh racing series to Los Santos. At times events seemed as if they were close to spiraling out of control, with only eight of fifteen cars finishing the race. However, under Peretti's unity of command, dedicated staff, and volunteers from the Los Santos Fire Department, the public was treated to nearly four hours of raucous racing this Fourth of July Weekend.

With only a few laps to go, IMEX Motorsports seemed destined for a one-two finish. However, Lucas' luck ran out deep in a corner, resulting in crash that sent the IMEX Logisitcs veteran trucker — and former rally car racer — to hospital for minor leg injuries. Stunned at the turn of events, the IMEX pitcrew rallied Adam onwards, with Crew Chief Jessie Rice keeping Lucas on the line just as Adam captured the checkered flag and brought in the win for the whole team.

"We kept our cool and our practice sessions paid off. It wasn't just me but the whole team working in sync," a champagne-soaked Adam told Saunders upon the podium.

With the conclusion of the race, Adam leads the Driver standings with 28 points, ahead of Wyatt Hayes of Hawaiian Snow Racing Team, and Dustin Rivers of Syndicate Motorsports. The latter team leads the team standings with 28 points, ahead of IMEX with 20. The next SAASCAR regional race, the Blaine Aviation Challenge, is slated for July 17, at Blaine Aviation Airfield.

Undeterred by adversity, Benjamin Lucas leads IMEX Motorsports to a fourth place finish at the Blaine Aviation Grand Prix

Los Santos, San Andreas, Release: July 21, 2021.

Driver Benjamin Lucas battled to finish in a race marred by misfortune as the hopes of two of his IMEX Motorsports teammates were scuppered by incidents involving a single Scuderia Sbinalla driver.

Under a blistering Blaine County sun, SAASCAR fans were treated to another slugfest on Saturday which saw race officials and emergency staff almost as active as the drivers themselves. It was the second race of the season for SAASCAR, a new league which continues to gain momentum from its inaugural event two weeks previous, at Vinewood Racetrack, on July 3.

For the second race in a row, Driver Lee Williams was a no-show for IMEX Motorsports, forcing veteran Crew chief Jessie Rice behind the wheel of the team's white-wheeled Gauntlet affectionately called "Yeti". The previous race's winner, Driver Humad Adam, was again piloting the red-wheeled "Nintendo", whilst the inaugural pole-sitter, Driver Benjamin Lucas, drove the bronze-wheeled "Rocky".

Although IMEX entered the racing weekend ranked second in the SAASCAR team standings, the team crossed into Blaine County wrong-footed with the resignation of Driver Blake Blackburn, and the realization that Adam and Lucas were unable to attend the only league-sanctioned practice before the race — a Friday afternoon event about twenty-four hours before the race on Saturday. Taking the team upon her shoulders, Rice registered as a temporary driver with the hopes of gaining scraps of intel for her teammates. At one point, in a scene that seems to have foreshadowed the team's fate the following day, Rice's white-wheeled racer came into contact with two Blacklisted Automotive Gauntlets attempting a passing manoeuvre deep into turn one. Boxed-in by the Blacklisted drivers that lurched late into the chicane, Yeti was struck by both red and black cars at the apex of the corner, sending all three spinning-out and crashing into the barrier.

Come race day, however, spirts were high for members of IMEX Motorports, a team that locked out the front row of qualifying of the inaugural race two weeks prior. Although it was only first time trying the track, Lucas posted the fourth fasted qualifying time, clocking a lap of 49.465. Rice clinched a spot within the top-ten, qualifying eighth with a time of 50.056. Adam narrowly missed the coveted top-ten starting position, qualifying twelfth place with a lap of 50.634.

Although the team took the breadth between their starting positions as potentially in their favor, with the risk of becoming bogged down in the pack theoretically decreased, disaster struck like a lightning bolt not even a full lap into the event, when Rice's car came into contact of a Scuderia Sbinalla car deep in the track's final turn. Racing fans along pit row looked on in horror as Rice's car was sent airborne for a split second before spinning and twisting down the final straightaway. With no word from Rice over the team radio, and with highly-skilled volunteers of the Los Santos Fire Department unable to quickly extract Rice from Yeti, race officials called for a red flag to temporarily halt the competition.

As the minutes ticked by, with the gravity of their teammate's injuries uncertain, IMEX team members were bushwhacked by an announcement over the intercom by SAASCAR President Michael Peretti that Rice had been disqualified for an "intentional pit manoeuvre". Under the watchful care of medical staff, an immobilized Rice, suffering a severe concussion and excruciating pain from a fractured femur, was finally extracted from her damaged car and transported to Pillbox Medical Centre.

With ambulance sirens just fading away into the distance, Peretti attempted to restart the race only to be alerted that several individuals were spotted running across the track. As racing fans from Sandy Shores and the surrounding Blaine County looked on in disbelief, an initially bewildered Peritti regained control of the situation, ordering security staff over the radio to "take any action necessary." With the offenders adeptly dealt with, and the track clear, racing finally got back underway in Blaine County.

Misfortune rained down upon IMEX at the onset of lap seven, however, as Adam's red-wheeled Gauntlet came into contact with a Scuderia Sbinalla car. Although Adam was uninjured in the crash, Nintendo refused to restart and was retired for the day. As the cars were being towed back to the pits, Peretti declared over the intercom that the Scuderia Sbinalla racer — the very same driver involved in the initial crash that hospitalized Rice on the first lap, and one that also crashed-out on his own in the late stages of the previous race — was "disqualified for not respecting race rules and endangering other's lives".

Down to their last car, the hopes of IMEX laid squarely upon the shoulders of Lucas, piloting Rocky, the team's bronze-wheeled racing Gauntlet. As the event's one-hour marked passed on lap twenty, Peretti announced over the intercom that the race would either end upon the thirtieth lap or a red flag. Sure enough, on lap twenty-four, the red flag was destined to wave once more as yet another Scuderia Sbinalla car came into contact with a Syndicate Motorsports racer. Ordering the surviving cars back to the grid, Peretti brought the race to an abrupt close, announcing Wyatt Hayes of Hawaiian Snow Racing Team as the winner, followed by Dustin Rivers and Marina Matsuyauri of Syndicate Motorsports.

Lucas brought home the only points for IMEX, just barely missing the podium in fourth place. With the close of the race, Syndicate lead the team leaderboard with 60 points, followed by Hawaiian Snow with 48, and IMEX in third place with 33.

With all three racing Gauntlets heavily-damaged and their Crew chief side-lined with injuries, IMEX Motorsports have their work cut out for them in the lead-up to the next race. Although originally slated for July 31, at the time of writing league officials have rescheduled the Blaine Aviation Challenge to July 24.
