u10sil
Short description: Radio Retardation Reduction / Radio Realism Refactor Detailed description Currently: /setchannel [slot] [frequency] - programs a radio frequency to the specified slot /setslot [slot] - sets your primary slot. /part - unprograms the channel from whichever slot you're tuned into as your primary/r(adio) [message] - broadcasts a message over your primary slot /r(adio)[slot number] [message] - broadcasts a message over the specified slot number Radios can have 9 slots. There is one primary slot and the rest are secondary. Primary slot shows up like this: All your secondary slots shows up like this: (of course the number being different depending on which slot it is For people in law enforcement/other government factions, this means lots of spam all the time. Furthermore, this means that the feds can be tuned into up to 9 channels at a time with the ability to freely listen to all of them at once and switch between which one they are speaking over at any given moment. (For those of you have never used a walkie talkie before irl: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duplex_(telecommunications)) Suggestion: Equip all radios with 10 programmable frequencies. Limit the tuned in slot capacity from its current absurd number of 9 to a more reasonable 2: a primary and a secondary slot Commands to add: Modified radio commands would be as follows: /setchannel [slot] [frequency] - programs a radio frequency to the specified slot /s(et)p(rimary)s(lot) [slot] - sets your primary slot. /s(et)s(secondary)s(lot) [slot] - sets your secondary slot. /part - unprograms the channel from whichever slot you're tuned into as your primary/r(adio) [message] - broadcasts a message over your primary slot /r(adio)[slot number] [message] - broadcasts a message over the specified slot number Items to add: How would your suggestion improve the server? Less spammy, more heavy rpy Additional information: Edited February 13, 2021 by u10sil 2 Link to comment
orca112
I second this one, you are met with a lot of spam from all different raddio frequencies you are obligated to be on for scenario X and Y or due to assignment Z, but usually only actively use 1-3 frequencies throughout patrol. Cutting down on the "active" channels to two or three surely helps on lessen the chat clutter similar to the effect the /setdep feature brought opposed to all departmental radio chatter seen by anyone, even if it is completely unrelated. Entity
I'd love to see this. It would definitely be a much bigger hassle operating a radio - as it should be. You shouldn't be able to take part in 9 simultaneous discussions, especially not on a radio. As far as I know, radios should have one active channel and you, while on-duty, might roleplay the radio inside the vehicle as a secondary one. I'd love to see this implemented. Link to comment
Mick
This needs to happen, we haven’t realistically roleplayed radios at any point and the system is garnered from the SAMP days. You shouldn’t be able to actively monitor 10+ radio frequencies at once, 2 max for gaming reasons. With that, we need the CAD message and group sms suggestions to go through to give people and LEOs other avenues of realistic communication. Link to comment
SULLI
This and the CAD suggestion go hand in hand. I support both! Having 10 channels is a nightmare. 1 Link to comment
Shagglehod
I support this as well. It can get rather distracting on busy nights in the government agencies. Link to comment
