finally made the switch from samp to gtaw.

What are the first things you’d recommend doing when starting for the first time?

E: However I'm a true believer that the best GTA World experience is the one you get by exploration and trial and error, if you moved from SAMP to Rage you'll have the basics down already, the rest is just exploring the many features of the server and not getting you hand held along the way by anyone

Sim summed this up pretty well. I'd recommend looking into joining a faction/business, etc. That's how I got started.

Joining a faction was the best decision I made in GTAW. It's fun as hell, you get a lot of interactions and passive RP opportunities.

Although I agree, I always heavily encourage people to just explore around the server and its functionalities before joining a faction. Good advice though.

That too. Familiarize yourself with the server, see how things work, places where what faction operates, etc.

don't buy a fancy car and make it your personality.
