Dealership License Plates

Short description: Allow owners of a dealership to register a one-time insurance per month that grants them access to a temporary license plate / insurance.

 

Detailed description: 

 

A dealership license plate is issued to the owner of a dealership after he pays a fine to the state, ex. (( /banktransfer LSGOV dealershipplates HOT AUTOS )).

 

This would allow for temporary legal transportation of vehicles that are not insured or registered. Why vehicles may need to be moved on surface streets, without registration or insurance?

- Delivery of vehicles to clients, who do not wish to insure or register the vehicle (private collectors)

- Garages, who do not wish to deal with a vehicle that is not insured / registered (i.e. possibly stolen - DS plates fix this issue)

- Dealerships selling to other dealerships

- Allows test drives by employees/clients of the dealership without the owner needing to pay a huge sum to register a luxury car for a one-time ride.

 

 

Commands to add: /dsaddplates    /dsremoveplates

 

 

Items to add: 

 

(NAME OF DEALERSHIP) license plates (LETNUM) - ex. "Hot Autos dealership plates (AAA111)" - in the MDC these plates simply refer to Hot Autos as having paid their monthly insurance that covers any cars that run the plates (one at a time to prevent abuse - multiple plates can be requested?)

 

 

 

How would your suggestion improve the server?: 

 

It would save law enforcement and dealerships/garages time and traffic stops.

It allows for employees to take vehicles out to a mod shop and get them a fresh coat of paint or other wheels to boost resale value, without the need of spending a huge amount of money on registering and insuring the car.

 

 

 

Additional information: 

 

Many dealership owners and mechanics that I spoke to as well as a few law enforcement officers, find this to be a realistic addition to the game script. The value of vehicles is greatly pulled down by the fact they are not registered or insured, and for the new owner to legally receive it, they or the dealership need to pay the registration and insurance, even if it's just for one day. This suggestion would allow dealerships to provide more services to clients as well as bring interesting scenarios for law enforcement and shady roleplayers alike.

 

CURRENT SYSTEM OF DEALER PLATES IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (2020)

 

Dealer registration plates may be displayed on any vehicle which is owned or in the possession of a dealer or manufacturer, and such a vehicle may be operated upon the highway, but only if the vehicle is being held for sale and is being used for any of the following purposes:

 

a) Driver’s education course.
b) Testing, safety inspection, repairing or transporting to or from a repair facility.
c) Demonstrating the vehicles in the possession of the dealer or manufacturer at no cost to the prospective buyer.
d) Loaning to customers whose vehicles are being repaired.
e) Loaning to a prospective purchaser.
f) Loaning to charitable organizations for use in charitable activities.
g) Transit to or from a dealer, show or exhibit.
h) Delivery from a manufacturer.
i) Transit to a prospective purchaser.
j) Use in the conduct of the dealer’s administrative functions.
k) Personal use for the dealer or members of his or her immediate family.
l) The officers of the dealership and their immediate families.
m) The regular employees of the dealer.

Could be good but I'd suggest to allow the mechanic garages the use of /addplates /removeplates (or whatever the cmd will be) too, in case someone wants to roleplay removing a license plate (for legal or illegal rp).

This is already in place, as it is right now an administrator comes and removes the license plate with an admin command. It'd be great if this could be done by mechanics and dealerships!

I don't see anything negative about this. There are legitimate times when a temporary plate is needed, especially by a dealership.

I also like this suggestion, but maybe make it so that everyone can do it by having a wrench? RCRP had a similar feature like that(where you need to have a toolbox to remove the plate).

just enable and disable the plates on the car. they all have their pre-selected plate as stated in the DMV, and same as you would /removeplates on a car, you'll /addplates (the same plates as removed, unless we want to do a new plate system where you can have several plates available to install) to give a car some plates once more.

 

(there again we could think of a system where you can steal plates from cars, for example when chopping it, and install them in other cars (which happens irl) so that illegal RPers can use those stolen plates to commit robberies for example)
