Jorgensen
LOS SANTOS FIRE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE - Fresh Face Lift Fresh Face Lift! Written by: Asher McCallum Published: 18/10/2020 The days come, and the days go, and within those days, there are calls. Numerous calls in fact. Each of these calls requiring a different response, whether that response be a traffic collision, a stranded sea-goer, or a climber getting stranded on a cliff. We have to be ready, and equipped, to respond at a moments notice. As of October 13th 2020, the Los Santos Fire Department has received their new apparatus, after selling their former apparatus to outfitters in order to retrofit and utilize in other parts of the United States. With the old apparatus sold, and the budget adjusted, the department has invested in maintaining a fit and well-equipped apparatus fleet. Having said that, let's introduce you to the brand new apparatus. 2020 Vapid Sandking Medical (Source: Alice MacCarthy) As pictured above, the department has invested in 14 new 2020 Vapid Sandking Medical ambulance apparatus, using these budget adjustments and sale returns. Each station is assigned an apparatus, with the exception of Station 7 (4), Station 3 (2) and 4 being placed into Reserves for circumstances beyond control. Other stations receiving Apparatus include Stations 1, 4 and 6. These Vapid V-450 monsters are built to withstand the constant beating and battering that is required when responding Code 3 Lights and Sirens to an urgent call. With an upgraded fuel capacity, medical supply storage, new Stryker Stretcher assist systems and lighting patterns, these rigs make for a perfect replacements to the elder fleet. 2007 Vapid Sadler Utility w/ Brush Fire Rigging After long considerations on whether or not to retrofit the former Brush Patrol apparatus, the decision was made to sell off the apparatus and replace them. The department has replaced the apparatus with 3 new-to-us 2007 Vapid Sadler V8 Utility vehicles, that have been outfitted with Brush Fire Rigging, which grants them the ability to utilize a Front Mounted Deluge Gun to quickly suppress and extinguish brush fires while remaining mobile. These vehicles also provide upgraded storage capacity and second-row seating, allowing for more equipment and personnel to be transported to a scene. These apparatus have been stationed to Station 1, 4 and 7 respectively. 2007 Vapid Sadler Utility + Towing Along with changes to the Brush Patrol Apparatus, our Swift Water Rescues have been sold and replaced as well. Although replaced with additional 2007 Vapid Sadler V8 Utility vehicles, these Swift Water Rescue vehicles change in variation compared to the Brush Patrol rigs. Although not equipped for fighting fires, these vehicles have an increased towing capacity and winch rating compared to their Brush Patrol counterparts. The vehicles are fitted with a slightly raised chassis as well, giving them more ground clearance for some of the more remote locations that they launch from. The vehicles also store different equipment. Where the Brush Patrol is equipped for fighting fires, the Swift Water Rescue is equipped with diving equipment for those risky underwater rescues. 2020 Vapid Caracara Updates Our 2020 Vapid Caracara fleet has been retrofitted to provide more utility across the department. After much work from Support Services, alongside specialists from Vapid, our Caracaras have been modified to allow for more, for lack of better terms, modularity. At any point in time, should one of our Caracara apparatus be placed out of service, another one can be taken from another station if needed, with parts swapped out and ready for service in a matter of hours. The engineering that went into these updates is mindblowing, and provides excellent durability for any situation that the department may face.
