Thoughts on Yakuza roleplay?

Well? Which one is it? Nevermind the naysayers. It's absolutely possible to pull a Yakuza concept,

The Yakuza for sure does exist in LA, California and USA. But it does not exist in the type of way that 99% of this server wants to portray it. Countless times many iterations of IFM have talked about this issue and always given the same answer. I'm not sure on the current IFM's stance. But the way Yakuza operates in USA is basically a legitimate front. They are mostly into porn and real estate and no they are not going around day to day sitting at those businesses. They invest money from Japan in USA to wash it or simply hide their money from the Japanese government. They play with big money in USA, for example the Riviera Country Club (GWC in gta 5) Was bought by Japanese owners who are linked with the Yakuza in Japan.

Rping a Yakuza in USA would mean 1-3 guys that are investing money for the Yakuza in Japan, buying businesses etc. They do not commit your regular crime they do not go around the streets with fancy suits and full body tattoos selling 50 grams of meth to a local gang banger in Compton.

What was mentioned above in the comments, your rp of laundering money for the Yakuza in Japan, or shipping things back to Japan would not yield you profit or create revenue, it would be "fake" rp. The only part that you could really do is rp investing money into a business and run it. That's it, but that would require you to already have considerable assets to portray that.

If somebody actually wanted to do the realistic portrayal probably no one would have an issue with it because all you would be doing is rping civilians. But the sad truth is that people want to roleplay fancy suits, blacked out v12's and full boddy tattoos with finger cutting and the whole intiation ceremonies alongside racing riced out elegies.

Back in the day, I ran the Inagawa-Kai, along with @Bonestorm @EliH @SirPuglesworth @FilmFactory. We did a fantastic job, in my opnion at least. We generate roleplay through different businesses, illegal roleplay (Illegal gambling, Chicken fights, grand arson, Hi-jacked an LSPD weapons convoy), and legal roleplay through other means. We got nothing but praise for the admin team, never had a complaint (from my memory at least). And had official status. Despite all that, the staff felt the need to disband us because there are "No Yakuza in America".

Yakuza's were always awe inspiring if they pulled it off well. Ruthless when required, but always methodical, controlled, planned. Had strict conduct regulations. The really great ones imparted you with wisdom on an OOC level aswell, honor-bound codes of conduct, ethics.

I hate to break it to you, but the Yakuza doesn't have an honor bound code of conduct bro... They're a vile group of rapists and murderers who are hated and feared across the entire continent of Japan. They're the Japanese version of El Salvador's MS13.

If you don't believe me, read up on the murder of Junko Furuta, a 17 year old japanese schoolgirl who was held captive for 40 days by the yakuza, she was tortured, sexually assaulted for over 40 before finally being killed in the end. Unfortunately for all the Yakuza shills on here, the Yakuza aren't what you think they are. They're incredibly disturbing and I personally hate to see them roleplayed.

yeah they're fucking scum and modern video games and media have romanticised them. they're literally wankstains on this earth

scum isnt even a bad enough word to describe them, it's a shame that this disgusting group of deviants gets romanticized in shitty video games and movies, when the reality is extremely horrifying. Kinda gives people a false impression of these disgusting people which is extremely dangerous tbh.

I'm not gonna lie it's quite disturbing seeing people advocating for this kind of an organization to be roleplayed here.

right? lol. muh honor, but their members kidnap and torture young women for rejecting them, lets not even talk about the fact that they try to make 14 y/o and below schoolgirls prostitute for them.

Yakuza isnt on gtaw because they aren't present in LA, they aren't present in LA because no gang in LA tolerates them and their presence, not even gangs like MS-13 tolerate them. They generally get wiped out if/when they pop up doing anything more than moving laundered money around.

No gang or mafia is going to do good things, they are all going to rob, murder and commit deplorable acts.

And about not allowing Yakuza and other mafias on GTAW, the use of the card  "There is no Xmafia in LA so you can't create it" has always seemed an absurd excuse to me, in LA there is not as much crime as on GTAW and here we are, we also come to do RP of something that we are not in real life, we are not going to allow troll factions either, but I don't see why not a serious faction.

It's my simple opinion, I think we shouldn't have to follow 1:1  everything that happens and there is in LA.
