Thoughts on Yakuza roleplay?

I'm the founder of the still on-going Little Tokyo faction from LS:RP. The approach you have to take on this kind of concept is way different than your moviesque Takeshi Kitano concepts, rather represent an Americanized closed group than any public Japan yakuza family.

At the same time I don't understand how come certain niche factions are accepted here, not that I have anything against some of them or the players running them, but, realistically, you'd rather have some yakuza oriented organized crime group than a Romanian one; I say this because I am a Romanian myself. We have zero presence in the United States and that's about it.

Even if we accept the argument that the yakuza doesn't have a street presence in California, I fail to see why players working to participate in a historically feasible concept have zero agency in the sorts of factions that exist on the server. We're not talking about a Batman-esque gang of face-painted clowns driving around in Speedos, here.

To my knowledge a group of people that wanted to RP yakuza have been offered twice (possibly two different groups) But they were given the restrictions of what kind of portrayal IFM was expecting of them, and they did not want to agree to them. No one argues about Yakuza existing, but Yakuza in california does not go around purchasing guns, killing people, selling drugs. Their operations are mostly to do with the pornography industry and real estate. They are basically civilians, but people don't want to roleplay that. The minute you allow a Yakuza on the server you will have dudes running around shooting people left and right and acting like the same stereotype you just described they will not be any different to any other OC faction just in a different coat of paint.

As a matter of fact there is already an unofficial Yakuza group running around and they are trying to tax Davis gangs, that's exactly the reason why this concept should never exist on this server because people don't know how to portray it in a California setting. A small Yakuza "cell" can certainly exist but their roleplay would most likely never resort to any violence or any usual crime, thus on this server it probably would be extremely boring.

Because Yakuza facs r cringe as fuck bro. atleast the romanian/ect facs on the server are fun to rp with. the Yakuza ones are just cringe , rp over the top shit like every member having fingers missing and having full body tats. U cant say I'm generalizing because theres a yakuza fac trying to open right now and I saw their members doing this shit yesterday

Juggalos have a higher probability in S.A. than Yakuza... I've been thinking about this concept, as they have music videos in Compton and L.A. county.

Stop hating on the concept just because you don't understand Japanese culture.
