UCP Turf Map

Recommended Posts

Ok, Turf Maps are NOT a "meta" at all. IC all gangs would have this knowledge due to the activity and graffiti displayed in such areas, and Turf Maps do exist irl made by people from those cities in Google Maps.

Anyone can metagame already from forum screenshots, so that's not the point AT ALL. The point of a Turf Map is to keep track of well established factions area so either Faction Management or other players don't just open up new sets in said areas. Because it's simply unrealistic that a new group pops up in a place that has lore and time active.

If you don't take a measure like this then you are promoting non realistic DM scenarios. With that said, maybe an internal map for Faction Management could work so they wouldn't just let new factions appear where others have been already as @Wirbelwind suggested.

But then you got the DM trolling cliques that just want to beef people and say "yo this my block". These cliques should have immediate punishment and an easy way to do this is adding rules about turfs and having a map (whether visible or not) that needs to exist and be updated constantly because that sort of thing can ruin immersion and roleplay of a good faction in general if they suddenly need to beef someone that irl wouldn't be there.

Why can this not be made based on IC information? The real life example of the map is compiled from information on the ground, why not here?

Because in real life several different gangs aren't currently fighting for the same turf in LA, most of those gangs are under injunctions so they operate in the shadows. Those wars happened decades ago, 2-3 decades ago and the gangs now claim turfs they have been holding for decades, 3-4 gangs in the city have held the same turf for well over a century, two being White Fence and East Side Clover.

This information is mainly OOC to stop what has already been mentioned. I'm quite sure SD's OSS has a turf map for IC shit.

No. Turfs are an IC issue and nowadays most gangsters don't even dispute  turf areas anymore like it happened before, they shoot others because they are stepping on their toes or something that ruin their business. It's 2020. Also, it opens room for metagame in several ways possible. I've already seen a turf map in one discord once and I think it was nonsense. LSPD can map turfs based on IC information just like the police does in real life, if you get the access to this map in a IC way, that's a thing.

If you want to claim the turf as your own, do it ICly. Do what you gotta do to people respect it. If you lack the power of controling your turf ICly, you simply don't own it. Becoming a official faction doesn't give you  the rights to run a turf right away.

Turf control is IC, you shouldn't have some sort of map telling you who lives where, that just gives people a pretty open source to metagame locations of certain groups and where they hang out.

If you want to find out who lives/controls where, you go and find out ICly, a map shouldn't tell you nor should it give you an ability to turn away any new factions who wish to contest the area. If you want to control a territory, control it ICly with actual manpower instead of relying upon a map that pushes away any new factions that wish to contest or roleplay within the area.

You have a whole rule set and process to protect yourself from DM'ers and bad factions, use them.

No support.

As said above. I wonder how many people commenting here are actually illegal roleplayers? Genuine question. In fact, how many people here are roleplaying in factions that operate with turfs realistically?

^^^^^

All the illegal roleplayers know what's what. I've a strong suspicion that a majority of the no comments are people with little to no involvement in any illegal factions.
