Advertisement overhaul

Recommended Posts

Short description: Make advertisements be queued instead of the way they are, which turns into an advertisement war.

Detailed description: Okay so, right now advertisements need to be fought over just to be posted, and most of the times you're left mashing your keyboard to get an advertisement up.

What I suggest is queuing the advertisements and having them go for example: 3 people post advertisement queues, one ad is posted after 120 seconds, then another after 120 seconds, so on so forth. This avoids spamming, and also allows for other people/businesses to steadily post advertisements.

One of the most irritating things is also when a business has their /bad marker on the map, but keeps on posting /bads instead of /cads which stops other unmarked businesses from posting /bads. What I suggest to do here, is to either only allow a /bad to be posted once the marker is out, or once every 20 minutes. This way it's fair on everyone, and stops an overall advertisement war.

Commands to add: None.

Items to add: Queue.

How would your suggestion improve the server? It would stop the non-stop constant keyboard mashing advertisement fights that take place, which result in most businesses barely getting 2 advertisements up within 3 hours of opening.

Additional information: None.

As this has been said many many many times before (Just search for similar topics), the development of a new ad system is on the list, its just not at the top of the list. It will be done eventually. Also, I'm not sure why people think a queue system would work. Businesses who posts ads when they open need to be able to post real-time ads. This won't work if you have 8 people in queue ahead of you, you're going to be waiting 24 minutes for your ad to post. What if you're trying to buy a car, you only have an hour to play and there are 20 people in queue? You'd have to wait that entire hour before your ad gets posted. It won't work on a server that averages 150+ people at nearly any hour of the day. Sorry.

A better system would be something like a classifieds ads section that is accessible through your phone via an app. That way it doesn't fill the chat section with constant ads and then people would be able to access different categories based on what they are looking for. Queues just won't work the way you think they will.

This is against the rules if they are hogging the system as said in the server rules here:

"You must pick one type of advertisement (/ad, /cad or /bad) and stick to it. Players may not use other advertisement types to get around the scripted cooldown. Players also may not use other players to avoid cooldowns. Advertisements must not be spammed. Players are expected to be courteous when advertising. Posting several ads for the same business in a short period of time is considered a breach of this rule."

Report them if they are doing that.

I support this idea, since I've previously sat trying to get an ad up for around half an hour to an hour. And it get increasingly more annoying when you see a business that already has a bad up, post another one.

No, this won't be good. Been suggested before, was denied. It'll be a clogged up queue, it will be almost worthless to open your business at peak hours, since queue will probably be 40 minutes long or more.

It doesn't necessarily have to be for /bad and /cad, can be applied only to /ad
