Ban ERP

To preface, I don’t think we should make characters forgo all sexual encounters. Especially on a server in a realistic setting, that would be impossible. Plus, relationships are one of the best ways to develop characters, and obviously people in relationships have sex. I’m just suggesting an alternative to the super detailed ERP. In a perfect world, this system would be the default, with would-be ERPers being encouraged to do all their type-fucking on Discord or somewhere that isn’t the in-game chat. 

 

imo ERP is unnecessary in terms of RP like 99% of the time. What does your character development or RP scenario gain from knowing the little details about how the characters fucked? Just like it’s not always necessary to type out every detail of cooking a meal, driving a car, or anything similar, all the details in ERP are pretty unnecessary. It is just as conductive for RP (even more so if you factor in the amount of time saved that can be spent on further RP) if you just make it an implied/understood thing, basically /do “they fuck.”

 

I’m not sure what it’s called on here (if it has a name) but on other servers/games we just referred to it as Fade to Black/FTB, which I will use in this post 
 

FTB honestly just a lot less weird. This way, you aren’t basically sexting with some other guy through your characters as a medium.  Your characters still have a relationship and still get the development out of it, but you’re not type-fucking with the other person (which, let’s be honest, is probably just used for people to beat off to later). If you wanna type out all the dirty details, go for it, I just think it should be a “not on-server” type thing. Take that stuff to Steam or Discord. 

 

More importantly, this could be used to avoid any potential legal troubles. I don’t know how real the threat of someone getting in trouble for unknowingly RPing having sex with someone’s character who happens to be played by someone underaged OOC is, but I don’t think it’d be an issue if it weren’t all typed out in detail on server. Again, if people want to take it to another platform for those details, that’s their prerogative.

Ban people RPing characters under the age of 16. Teenage characters are okay as long as nobody RPs weird shit, but why the fuck would you RP a 13 y/o in an environment/setting like GTAW?

GTA W operates an opt out mechanism, you have the right to refuse, or if you stumble on it and are uncomfortable, you have the right to leave. I don't swing either side of the argument these days, in my prior years yes I did used to ERP, these days I don't. I just think its out right stupid people keep sticking their noses in other affairs. 

 

I'm sorry if this isn't worded as nice as it can be, but these threads are appearing constantly, people are ignoring genuine area's of RP which could and need to be expanded in favour of some kind of ERP witch hunt. If you don't want to ERP? Great don't do it. If you do? Well also great, you shouldn't be shamed for it.

While I agree with your points, I am personally of the same page if you want to do it, go ahead. But the problem is everyone knows or has heard stories about absolutely disgusting "erp" that has occured with a few cases being very public and memed to this day on the community. I think people should work towards a solution on how to remove this problem instead of just going "hurr durr i want my erp"

There are issues, I will agree. But they are the minority. You know how to fix that? Report them and get rid of them if they are underage, at risk age groups or immature. You can't operate a realistic RP server and ban the very thing which makes any given character exist.
