Cops ticketting upon arrest.

It's a pretty simple suggestion, and it's to prevent the LSPD faction from giving other players fines/tickets/citations upon their arrest, the fact it being "up to their discretion" or "Misconduct IC" is unacceptable, if you have to request to be a corrupt cop to the higher ups within the faction itself, then surely this counts as corruption. I've never heard of, or seen, a case where a police officer, in reality, has written a citation or a fine out for someone who has been charged and sent to jail. I'd also like to add that the fact that cops are allowed to fine criminal characters up to 30,000 in one sitting is also ridiculous, I understand we've an inflated economy, but new players, and those who've struggled with money ingame, be that because they have IRL stuff happening so they can't get on to work much, or otherwise, don't stand a chance in Hell with that.

If a rule could be implemented on, at the very least, the police officers being unable to FINE players while they're being arrested, that would be great, simply because one, it ruins immersion, and two, completely ridiculous, if we have to serve 3-4 days + and pay citations as soon as we get our money back there'd be no point in giving the cash back if all you actually have would be 2,000 (for whatever reason) and your fines are up to 5,000.

It doesn't count as corruption, it's in the penal code that everyone has access to that was written entirely by the courts. This is something you'd want to bark up their alley about. Overall though, if you manage to rack up a ton of fines in one sitting, you probably deserved it anyway and USUALLY the people who do rack up insane fines are trying to be Fast & Furious wannabes.

If you took even a peek at the Penal Code you'd see that fines are included as part of the sentencing for certain crimes. Depending on how the character pleas, those fines will either be issued immediately by the arresting officer on a guilty or no contest plea, or will be issued during sentencing on a not guilty plea.

This is another example of a suggestion that should be made ICly to political RPers.

Again, the point of this is the fact that it doesn't happen in real life, as far as I'm concerned in any country or state. I'd consider it more of an immersion break, if anything.

It's funny how you instantly jump to the "Fast & Furious wannabes". Are the people who street race in real life F&F wannabes as well?

So it's not corruption at all.

There are things in the penal code that illicit a fine in addition to jail time. It's not misconduct. If you're complaining about officer discretion, on a misdemeanor they may elect to not give you the fine, but I mean that seems like a dumb thing to complain about - not getting a fine.

Something something crime.

Something something time fine.

How.. Professional. You're going to sit there with a support badge and make an attempt to mock someone over previous suggestions. Great way for staff to show they're unbias.

Is it just me or is everyone just trying to protect the way the PD works, like how they can just give you an ungodly amount of time in jail, write out on a ticket 20,000 when the penal code states 2,000 and when asking you get told that it was a typo in the penal code.

Or how the PD straight-up have full body armor, or access to an unrealistic amount of interceptors.

No because most of those people use a lick of intelligence when they do that stuff. Same thing goes for people on this server who have street raced and have never been caught up by the cops because they're smart and aren't evading in unregistered Elegies or vehicles they have no means to keep insured.

The people who try to treat this like it's the Fast & Furious and rally race their sports cars are usually the ones who acquire a stack of fines.

Also just to add on. It's funnier that you're trying to tell a bunch of Americans how our own country works. A simple google search would show that you CAN in fact get fined for being arrested.

Random example:

https://www.shouselaw.com/ca/defense/penal-code/185/

Quote

Penal Code 185 PC is the California statute that makes it a crime for a person to wear a mask or disguise to evade police after committing a crime. The law also makes it a crime for a person to wear a mask to escape after being charged with, arrested for, or convicted of an offense.

Penalties

A violation of this law is a misdemeanor. This is opposed to a California felony or an infraction.

The offense is punishable by:

  • custody in county jail for up to six months, and/or
  • a maximum fine of $1,000.

Highlighted in red, the part you're concerned about.

Pulling from the same website...

https://www.shouselaw.com/ca/defense/penal-code/19/

Penal Code 19 PC is the California statute that specifies misdemeanor punishments. These are up to six (6) months in jail and/or up to $1,000 in fines. Judges rarely order jail for first-time offenders. And most cases settle without a trial.

tl;dr - Completely realistic, just adjusted for the server's economy better.
