James Mirra was born to Vincent and Francesca Mirra on the 26th of March 1995, a freshly wed couple. James' father, Vincent grew up during the Tocco Era of the Detroit Paternership, one of the most active and lucrative era's of the mob in Detroit. Vincent worked for his father in a local grocers in Metropolitan Detroit, he quickly became involved with the mob, at the age of 21 he was an associate of the Detroit Partnership, and had started to build a reputation for himself, being a good looking and smart kid. Vincent started working in San Diego with the Partinico Faction, the family's heroin import operation. During this time, Vincent met Francesca Bruno, a 20 year old college student. Francesca fell pregnant with Vincent's baby, and they married soon after. Vincent and Francesca moved back to Detroit where Vincent began working for a made man of the family, managing a crew of street dealers.

 

Their newborn baby, James had just arrived and Vincent was making a lot of good money whilst building a healthy reputation for himself. A year after James' birth, Vincent was arrested in a conspiracy to murder, a ploy by the police to find rats and snitches. Vincent evaded the charge however soon after in March 1996, a week after Vincent evaded his charge, 17 members and associates of the Detroit Partnership where indicted. This naturally made Vincent look like a snitch, and by law of the game Vincent was shot and killed at the age of 24 on James' first birthday. James and his mother moved to the West coast soon after, looking for a better life. Francesca refused help from the family and fled, leading to an extremely tough upbringing for James, nonetheless James grew up strong and healthy, playing football throughout school. James quickly became the man of the house, he made it his goal to completely supply for his mother, to payback for everything she had been through, something that infuriated him. James studied his father's death, and it was almost obvious Vincent had not snitched, the evidence for the indictments lead far back before Vincent's questioning. James quickly saw it as a power game, now that the bigger members had gone in, the lower members where fighting for who will be on top. At the time James was 16, in order for him to make money in the neighbourhood he lived in, Davis, he had to do what his father did. James called his Uncle Jacob and flew to Detroit for his Summer vacation, Jacob was a drug dealer and coke addict. There James became addicted to cocaine, whilst learning how to sell drugs and carry yourself as a serious person. On his return to Los Santos after the Summer, he fell into new social groups and quickly became selling drugs, quickly growing a reputation in his local area, and high school. James played as the starting quarterback for his High School football team in Davis, he obtained a scholarship to the University of Detroit to play football for the Detroit Titans. James' football career started to look extremely promising, with people approaching him in his final year preparing him for a draft into the NFL. However during this time he was still addicted to cocaine, and financially supporting that by selling multiple drugs, heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine. He was found out due to an unexpected drug test, which usually he was able to evade, subsequentially  he was dropped from both the university and team, and arrested for two years at the Detroit Detention Centre. Soon after his release he flew back to Los Santos where he is currently living with his mom in a small apartment in Davis, his mother is now 58 years old and unemployed, she spends most of her time at bingo or with her friends.
