Make underage E-RP against the rules

As it stands, we have the OOC consent rule in place for this sort of RP that safeguards people who don't wish to take part in it.  

This suggestion was designed to amend the offensive RP rules to prohibit the sexual RP of characters under the legal age of consent.
In order to ensure this discussion can take place, I recommend maintaining civility and composure while providing constructive feedback.

Just to clarify, since there were queries about whether it's against the rules or not.

 

Can you roleplay as an underage, engage in erotic roleplay with another underage character? If so. Can we have a comment by an admin on the situation as this thread will obviously cause a lot of controversy.

OOC and IC means absolutely nothing outside of the community, where it presents a issue.

You clearly didn't understand my point. I don't tolerate Pedophilia under any circumstances and it shouldn't happen at all. Anyway, we have our own Penal Code, not California laws because this is a game. 

Personally, I don't even see the point of explicit ERP and I'm pretty sure that this game is about creating a good RP environment for everyone, not for losing time trying to do some explicit ERP. 

 

Regarding the laws, in my country this kind of thing falls under possession of child pornography just for the simple fact that you are encouraging minors to have sex without having the age of consent. 

Ignorantia juris non excusat means that the ignorance of law excuses no one. From my perspective, if OOCly ERP falls under possession of child pornography, then it should be forbidden on the server. However, the server it's not responsible for anyone that crosses the law.

If the argument against a rule such as this being introduced is "It's best to be kept IC and dealt with IC" then as far as I'm concerned it clearly shows that you are content in letting a safe space exist for individuals to participate in underage ERP, as opposed to understanding that the very large majority of instances of underage ERP are done with the intention of getting off to the roleplay as opposed to genuine character development.

Not introducing something like this basically gives people the green light to bypass the paedophilia rule and let people fulfill their fantasy; a fantasy that should definitely not be tolerated by anyone in this community when you consider the age-range of the majority of players here.

Perhaps an amendment clarifying that any sexual act under the age of 18 is prohibited regardless of any circumstances. If you character is under the age of 18 you cannot engage or be engaged with for the purpose of sexually themed roleplay.
 

This is not to deny anyone meaningful roleplay. I see no purpose to roleplay involving (violent) sexual themes, especially not for characters roleplaying children.

Really there isn't a debate to this - It's a loophole to engage in ERP with an underage character which should be blocked.

At the end of the day there are many underage people playing on the server, nobody can deny that. I think they're the only ones who should be able to roleplay this stuff as long as their characters are both underage. Yes, I agree that for anyone else it's wrong to roleplay this and it shouldn't happen. However, it's practically impossible to know people's ages OOCly. Let's also not forget that this roleplay takes place away from the public as it is. Nobody who's an adult and in their right mind would roleplay something like this anyway, and if they do they should know that there may be consequences to it. But banning this altogether isn't necessary in my opinion.
