There shouldn't even be that many casinos, the licenses for a casino should be limited to 2-3 active ones across the whole server. Illegal gambling should be a much bigger thing as of right now it makes no sense how someone posts an advert for a non licensesed  pent house poker game and it's allowed to exist.

LOL.

Right cause IRL illegal gambling > casino gambling...

In terms of income comparison, probably not. However, underground gambling should be more of a thing than multiple casinos down every block. People shouldn't be posting ads to host an illegal card game and not get punished for it. Casino licenses are historically very hard to get and requires a lot of red tape to be cut through city planning, licensing, etc. I think the point he's trying to make is that Los Santos shouldn't have just as many legal casinos as there are bars and clubs. It's just not very realistic.

Exactly my point, we have one Casino which was gifted to us by Rockstar and it's impossible to ignore it really. That Casino was given to a player who has developed his character from a small Casino to running this huge one now and he was given that building for good reason. I don't see why there should be 10 more Casino's Diamond Casino could essentially be ran as a faction with it being open more than just one day a week, it could be very interesting corporate/casino rp for the people that run it and expand it to be something that no business is on the server. But the fact that any Average Joe can spend couple hundred thousand and open their own casino is beyond stupid, one casino closes down after the owner collects enough money they sell it and someone else does or somoene opens a new one.

Illegal poker games should be such a big part of OC rp but sadly it barely exists and takes huge effort to make it happen, such thing as betting and every other form of gambling should be majorly illegal with lets say something like Diamond Casino that would exist as the legal option. I don't see why we need to have 10 different Casinos, I hate the fact that some random joe does /ad "Come play poker at my penthouse" it's stupid.

While there is merit in having more than one casino, the amount of casinos currently is ridiculous and quality has nosedived. Every other place also seems to have blackjack tables, even in restaurants...I can also see how the saturation of casinos is negatively impacting illegal gambling opportunities which should be far more widespread than they currently are.

If such a tax would be able to be implemented that would be a good first step, the next best step would be to enforce legal gambling more seriously.

The reason the quality of casinos has gone down is partly an IC reason due to the licensing department being absent for a number of months. With the reintroduction of the licensing department coming back very soon, some of the issues mentioned in this thread will be solved, namely blackjack tables and other forms of gambling in venues such as restaurants and clubs.

In regards to the number of casinos, there are too many, and there are IC plans to limit the number of casino licenses granted by the licensing department/government, however there will still unfortunately be a large number of casinos despite these plans. Casinos have been a sort of wild west for a long time now, and there deserves to be some IC and OOC restrictions on them.

Personally, I think casinos should be similar to mechanic shops/garages and that they are leasable only, in fact I will be writing a suggestion on this soon and the business leasing system as whole. The main reasons for this are to prevent oversaturation and ensure casinos are given to deserving people who run them effectively.

Going to bump this since Nervous said. "No agreement on the suggestion thread itself for now."

I can't emphasize enough how illegal gambling is the bread and butter of the modern mob and the RP we're missing out on because of a system where people have absolutely no incentive to attend backroom games as opposed to a casino.

For the standards we aim, how literally anyone can acquire a casino without licensing and how illegal gambling isn't in the penal code is beyond me and another issue on it's own which can be looked into too but to begin somewhere, a tax on legal winnings is definitely a step towards the right direction.

I think that both the house + players should pay some taxes for legal gambling.

But...

Poker is busted ( people can come to a table of 1000$ with 100,000 $ and just win by default ) and Del Sol has a premium fee you need to pay to even start.

This is complete stupidity and is has to be fixed.

I went to an establishment in Mission Row yesterday. They said Blinds were 1k, so I thought to myself, alright. I bring 20 grand to gamle.

I sit down at the table to find out I am playing with at least 3 people who got between $700.000-$900.000 in cash on their hands. Raising the amount to 8-20k each round, without even seeing any cards on the table.

No roleplay was involved. It was simply meant to be a huge cash grab without any RP, what so ever. I really think this is one of the major issues that should be addressed as well. Gambling need more rules and restrictions.

I see this problem very similar as back when trucking companies released. People were doing NO roleplay. It was all about just earning as much as possible without any real player interaction.

For the love of god, make some sort of gambling overhaul. Rules. Restrictions to the script on low/high tables etc.

I think that's an IC matter. If you want taxes to be applied on legal gambling winnings, write somebody important, start a petition or something like that.

If something's well beyond the bounds of realism and the addition of taxes has nothing in the interests of a character, how is it meant to be dealt with IC?

My character simply doesn't want to bother or take an initiative for casinos being taxed, and there are several such characters around who have no incentive for the same.

Does that mean there should be no regulations on gambling IG?

Absolutely not, cause that's simply not how things go IRL.

We're a heavy roleplay server set in a 2020 lore. The laws and regulations should be fairly severe to the point a realistic environment is formed and maintained, and the addition helps with the same.
