Dano
Most definitely the overall infrastructure. I played when this community first launched and it's quite impressive the amount and quality of scripts we have here today. Link to comment
Hart
GTA: World changed after it hit the 500 pb. This is definitely not the same experience I had back in 2019 - 23. It basically became too big. And don’t forget the whole “invite-a-friend-to-join-gtaw-for-free” bs. That only made it worse. But what has improved? Its probably the mods and UI. Edited June 4 by Hart 1 Link to comment
liq
Factions and the way factions are handled, and adopting the official/unofficial system as opposed to the "groups" part. Black role-play had it really bad, now it's up, especially RPing a Crip (of any kind). There was a time during the peak of TGS where the whole CK movement was off a rocker to the point where it just wasn't realistic and it wasn't like LA is and should be. This got exacerbated by other Sureno gangs popping up at the time. BOC might've ended on bad terms but the whole concept of BOC as a whole was really good, something new, and refreshing to see. Eme and Sureno influence is down. Eme used to run the server. By that virtue the old AP used to run the server before that power vacuum. I remember in 2021 to 2022, there was an AP so big that if you role-played illegal in some form, you probably met an AP associate on the first day. And not only that but it was massive to the point where the usual faction probably had a couple AP alternative characters. I'd say considering the original Eme was taken down IC before it was taken down OOC (and rightfully so), it's a bit realistic, since there's a lot of development there, and by no means am I saying there's no influence. There is influence, it just isn't what it used to be, and maybe that's for the better considering the IC indictments, injunctions, manhunts, etc. EOC is arguably the strongest its ever been, especially the actual Brothers Circle faction that went from a 6 member faction to what it is now. It has multiple satellites that also reached official, and some are on the way. There's clear division but the whole umbrella has peaked in recent times. And most recently, the MC scene isn't dead anymore nor actively working against itself to become dead i.e. Silent Ones incident, Los Des locking and archiving, etc. LCN took a turn for the better after the ban on crime families. It's good to see nice LCN role-play, and no wonder it's like that considering who's been up to doing it. The whole story with a mob boss having cancer and whatever was a crazy storyline to follow. As far as factions go, with exceptions here and there, it's more realistic than ever when it comes to what prevalence certain factions have other the others. It would be cool to see Sureno role-play thrive again on the server scale and collectively do better as a scene, and that's on its way considering the prospects. I don't mean 1 or 2 big factions, I mean 10 factions, because you can't compare the scenes between each other right now in terms of that. — There's more IC rappers and performers that are actually talented people using their own voices than I've ever seen (yes I know about the AI, whatever, it's still cool to see so many SoundCloud rapper types, it's realistic in a sense). There's also a lot of interest in that: the clout chasing, hosting these rappers/performers, uniting them with record labels and bridging the gap between, say, a known DJ and a known rapper or hip hop artist. It really bridges the gap between certain illegal role-players and certain legal role-players that only run businesses such as clubs. There used to be a time where people couldn't comprehend, on both sides, that being a gang member is just that and not your whole identity, and just because you're a gang member, it doesn't mean you aren't smart, and can't hold down a career of sorts or make very significant amounts of money while leveraging the gang lifestyle because it's what sells. Naturally server development has been better and admirably consistent. There's certain communities that went months on top of months with no bug fixes nor new features, but not GTAW, and it's been going on since 2017 to mid 2025 at this point. The development team is clearly strong and as a player you don't worry they'll gamble the server owner's gonna go gamble the money on CSGO skins and close up shop. Thurston Howl
Decline: 99% of IC interactions are now incredibly hostile or turn into big dick swinging contests. Toxicity in the player base and driving RP and IC interactions at an all time high. Improvements: UI is friendly than ever to use. Eliminates the need for a ton of commands. Anim system is awesome Many small “niche” scripts that improve immersion and overall RP experience. Dumpsters, stretchers, apartment building lobbies. Edited June 4 by Thurston Howl 3 Link to comment
Nerissa
improvements scripts, addition to the server and the map, clothes, customization, everything, courts are doing much better (outside of civil cases), leo rp is still keeping the bar high with rp, some unofficial factions have way higher activity and quality than official factions (which would be part of the decline on the official faction's end, they aren't being held accountable that much at all once they get official and quality/activity drops) decline fivem dm mentality is prevalent in gang rp, everyone's gotta be a killer and a shooter, no matter the dev or character, people get their first guns and suddenly become fearless and psychopathic, throwing away any past development. additionally, looter shooter mentality, it's all about accumulating guns and loot everyone and every spot, it's barely about interacting with people anymore, it's shoot, loot or escalate to fights quality of rp overall in the illegal scene, although a lot of ocg concepts are doing pretty good in that account, ooc dealings, cliqueness and ooc toxicity at an all time high, report culture is worse business variety was a bit low but it's slowly getting better i think? Toxicity in the player base and driving RP and IC interactions at an all time high. It used to be a time where being rude, toxic, troll, and being bad person were reasons to feel ashamed. Nowadays being all these are just a trending and is happening in many aspects in the real life. I also think is a consequence of these famous Youtubers who RPed on some servers like FiveM, where most of the videos are basically trolling, not having real serious RP and positive IC RP, but the opposite indeed, so I think many just learnt that and is what we have here. Many will just get closer to you running to try to ruin your RP and day with no reason, just because you appeared on their screen and they just decided that you need to be trolled or pissed off. Is just trolling OOC masked behind IC. The driving RP is a problem about patience, people just dont want to RP stopping 1 or 2 seconds on each intersection, its like there was a rush to go from point A to point B to the next small RP and then repeat the process. I saw many driving as crazy and then when they have an accident, they will /b avoid. 3 Link to comment
