Balance out airsoft businesses

Recommended Posts

Detailed Description: With the newest wave of properties, PM has accepted a lot of airsoft spots and it has changed the whole landscape when it comes to businesses and openings. They're opened up 24/7 because they aren't limited by script when it comes to profit-making (people will keep coming in and paying the fee to play, while other businesses are limited with their 1K per visit amount, on top of a 48-hour break in-between.)

I think this created an unfair advantage for these businesses and whoever owns them in the grand scheme of things. I'm not blaming the people who are opening their businesses for hours on end, because the script/rules in place gives them a clear advantage and they lose nothing by doing it but I think there should be changes to balance that out. Introduce a limit to how much they can make during openings or introduce 48-hour breaks, or anything else so that it's not unfair for other types of businesses.

It's not a business that creates RP in any sort of way and the fact that there's about 5-6 airsoft spots has been felt with the other businesses being almost empty all the time, same with streets/gang hoods because people simply log in to airsoft and aim-practice constantly. I think some balance should be introduced, we don't see casinos being opened up 24/7, the same effect would be there if they were (less bad perhaps, with the age required to go to them.)

How will it benefit the server? Balancing out businesses so that businesses that aren't airsoft spots aren't suffering from their 10+ hour openings and to keep things fair. Places that create RP have a profit-limit on each opening with a 48-hour break in-between them on top and airsoft spots have none of those.

Wholly agree. Right now, the amount of airsoft businesses on the server are just catering to people who want to deathmatch without fear of repercussion.

Airsoft places are generating an insane amount of money with little to no drawback. There's minimal roleplay needed, minimal interaction with people who are entering the business, and people don't even bother roleplaying anything remotely airsoft.

With the state of things we might as well remove the 1k-per visit limit and the 48-hour restriction on all businesses for /openbusiness and let it all crumble. At least businesses that create RP won't be limited anymore unlike zero-RP businesses like airsoft.

+1

Also noticed recently the imbalanced amount of Airsoft places that are opening during the day and staying open for an absurd amount of time. It's a fun place but it's just a money-printer at this point. There should be a limit on how many airsoft businesses can be leased at one time, or a maximum number of them allowed to operate at a period of time.

+1 Yeah, I agree. There should have a limit implemented on airsoft businesses so there's a balance for other businesses. Just seems like an easy business for money farming at this point. It doesn't create any beneficial RP other than just practicing aim and that's it.

Wanted to say that i fully agree with everything said until this post to be honest. Bars / Restaurants pretty much absolutely CANNOT survive without /openbusiness, there is too much stuff to care about about those kind of places, stock level, employee salaries etc. What so-ever i would say that you should consider yourself even lucky for owning the Airsoft Arena in general, you have something what players genuinely need OOCLy, to practice their aim and to have some sort of char development so they can say later that they are VERY EXPERIENCED with shooting skill. Airsoft arena is sort of concept that players just want to engage with, unlike bars / restaurants where there is nothing for them to gain. Take Mechanic garages for example, players need them to repair their cars, they are very profitable, take car dealerships, they are selling cars, players need cars, they are very profitable, take Casinos, players are addicted to gambling, there is chance for them to have significant gain there, that's why they are frequently visited. Only ,,hospitality" based type of business that actually works for networking / socializing, that does not give players any sort of OOC benefit are Nightclubs pretty much, they literary gain nothing there for themself but just spend money, nightclubs became sort of default, if you open any sort of bar / restaurant while nightclub is open, it's almost certain that you will not have any clients / customers because they are all inside Nightclub already.

There are literal deathmatch servers for people to practise their aim. These businesses provide zero roleplay on a "Heavy Roleplay" server.

IRL shooting airsoft guns would absolutely not make you a better shooter with actual guns, that's horrible portrayal. My statement was exaggerated to show that the current system is senseless with RP spots being limited and a deathmatch spot with zero RP not having any limits. You cannot compare shooting airsoft guns (guns that shoot plastic beads by the way) as practice for guns, the same way that working cars is practice for a mechanic. That's a ridiculous comparison.

I totally agree, Airsoft guns are real guns are 2 totally different spheres to compare, my point was that the you need to first look that from OOC standpoint rather then IC one. It's a fact that players are coming to Airsoft arenas to practice their aim. Take thieves on the server for example? There are players who are paying donator for a sole reason to gain acess to the test server so they can practice lockpicking not to fail on live build. Don't even wanna start about lockpicks themself, you need to steal car ( illegal ), scrap it ( illegal ), you now hold materials ( illegal ), but when you create lockpick from that materials, Lockpick is LEGAL item to posses.
