The Improper Use of No Crime Zones

Recommended Posts

Recently, with the fact that the Sandy Shores mapping has been bugging cars out of the parking lot, I've noticed an uptick in reports of people getting their firearms stolen out of it. One common theme in these reports are "I only park in no crime zones and despawn if I ever have to park in something that's not a no crime zone".

With that being said, shouldn't abusing no crime zones to avoid getting your stuff stolen be a form of metagaming. After all, if you only leave your vehicle spawned when it's in a no crime zone, and despawn it anytime you're not in a no crime zone, you're using OOC information for IC gain.

to be honest... it's a sheriff's deputy going to work and leaving their personal firearm in their car, which cannot be despawned.

however i have seen people park their vehicles in no crime zones so they dont get broken into or stolen (NCZs people are NOT affiliated with btw)

Don't think the people that have been reporting for their missing guns are intentionally leaving their car there for the sole purpose of it being a no crime zone. They just have to park there because that's where they're stationed. (Senora HQ, etc), that's why these reports are coming up that their guns are missing, they don't want to patrolling around with their CCW on them cause it wouldn't realistically be on them.

But, for the people that DO park in NCZ's intentionally when they have no reason to be parking in a no crime zone, then I see where that becomes an issue.

I'd understand this, but it normally follows with "I despawn if I'm not in a NCZ" That's my main point of discussion I want everyone to have here.

In that case, the script doesn't even allow them to despawn the car if they have guns inside unless they take out the gun and just keep it on their person.

good rule to life, just keep it on you and if you know ur going to a shaft act location, then just put it in your house. with the loot pinata mentality being what it is, there really isn't a good reason to take that risk by having a gun in a car, NCZ or otherwise. Cause knowing this server, the gun will be stolen and the car stolen with the intent of driving it into a tree.

Yes, it does might possibly happen all the time.

As someone who has personally dealt with multiple reports surrounding this stuff. You can't claim it's metagaming a safezone when deputies are parking at their place of employment and the vehicle ends up somewhere else. That's not abuse if you ask me.  As for the no crime zones however, the less of a looting server people treat the server as ultimately exercising common sense when breaking into vehicle shouldn't be that controversial if you ask me.

As for the Senora Station issue, arguing they're using it to their advantage same can be said in regards to those breaking into the cars. Though it's not entirely their fault. The car not being where it was originally parked gives them an advantage none the less since it's not longer in the NCZ or RCZ.
