Blizzard
Everyone crying saying this shit should come in is just wild. You're legal rpers, if we hit a house we got 1:30 inside with the alarm. With a jammer we get more. Jammers are extremely hard to get too so you dudes got it easy. That's why protech and people exsist too, you pay them to go and check your property. Jammers also kinda suck, you get the visual queue your spot is being robbed. You see a red alarm outside call the cops. Edited March 23 by Blizzard 11 Link to comment
liq
The jammer only stops the alarm from displaying to all on duty LEOs, not from ringing loudly around the property. Same applies to houses and cars. The system is fine as it is, with the exception of lockpicks. It's an antiquated system and practice but it's what the server universally has. I would've liked CAN injection relays/jammers for cars that warrant it, simple slim jims to break into the door and using screwdrivers/USB-Cs to get past the immobilizer (KIA boys) but yeah, it's just a dream, because the reworks needed are crazy. 9 Link to comment

Would be nice to see a huge rework in the whole lockpicking system, especially for cars. Maybe in the future... maybe.... Link to comment
sincerelyyE
I am a fan of the alarm and CCTV system because due to it being a monthly payment kind of thing, it removes money from the economy which is much needed. Perhaps it'd be a good thing to introduce expensive locks, too, that have to be "maintained" with a monthly cost and are much harder to break into. Link to comment

heartbeat81
Quote The security technology on the server is about 30-40 years behind what is actually available and utilized by high-security businesses, buildings, and other places with security compliance codes required to them by state or federal law. Same applies for any type of investigative roleplay. We're using technology from 1915 (except for the DNA script) and we have ZERO support. 1 Link to comment
Deeman
I feel like the current system is fine. It's somewhat balanced but even then, favors the victim over the people doing the robbery. If these systems are changed/upgraded then it might cause a bigger imbalance issue. 4 Link to comment

Admin break ins aren't the issue, most of the time. The automated break in system IS the issue. jammers are/were a deterrent for how overpowered property alarms and vehicle security used to be, it's got slightly better over the years since but it's still an issue here and there. Not sure how a system that's really for illegal rpers to have the chance to partake in an activity that otherwise gets left unanswered as a /breakin, is the issue. The current system is fine, could do with a few lil changes. It would be nice to have different options of breaking into stuff rather than just the same old skyrim-esque script. 1 Link to comment
Conspiracy Theorist
You gotta give the illegal roleplayers a chance. If we let everyone RP these super level security systems you're describing, everyone and their mom will have one. There's a careful balancing act that needs to occur between the two scenes, illegal and legal scene. This type of suggestion throws it completely out the window and really gives off more of a play to win from the side complaining than anything. Link to comment
Lead Developer Gibbz Posted March 23 Lead Developer Share Posted March 23 It's a roleplay server, and while our goal is to implement systems as realistically as possible, we never aim for a 1:1 replica of the real world. Everything needs to be balanced to ensure an enjoyable experience for both legal and illegal roleplayers. It's extremely easy to take a fully "realistic" approach. We'd include things like facial recognition, body cams, thermal imaging, etc., technologies that exist in real life but are intentionally left out here. On the flip side, we'd also have to allow for random serial killers, terrorist attacks, and other real-world events that are prohibited or regulated by rules. You're asking for glass sensors, motion sensors, biometric locks, and an actual historic CCTV feed (to list off some things from the initial post), but this is an extremely one-sided approach. This is a text-based roleplay server at the end of the day, so adding the kind of instant alarms and notifications you're looking for here is outright unfair because things that would take a fraction of a second to do IRL take minutes to write out and roleplay on here, something that we consider when implementing scripts like jammers, alarms, etc. In addition, some IRL law enforcement agencies face limitations like high call volumes, understaffing, long driving times, and more, none of which apply here to the same extent; so there is a delicate balance to maintain. With that being said, I'm personally not against the idea of adding more locks or alarms or whatever it may be, but the approach cannot be so one-sided as to completely kill off roleplay. All systems we implement need to have some form of counterplay or regulation to keep things fair and fun for everyone involved. 10 3 1 Link to comment
