Community Update - March 2025

Introduction

Hello all, and welcome to the March 2025 Update!

February is a short month in terms of days, and in terms of activity, lots of us have been busy in the background keeping busy as we do what we can to support the community.

As such you'll notice a few subteams missing from this months update, but don't worry, that doesn't mean they're not working hard! In fact, our staff across a lot of areas have done an incredible amount of work in the last 28 days, and we're incredibly thankful for that.

Please, take your time to read each of the sections curated by our Subteams - the community update aims to bring a new level of insight each and every month into what our subteams are involved with, and so they're jam packed full of info to give you more insight to each and every month.

Have an amazing March, and look forward to seeing you all back here in April!

Staff Management

Staff Management have been in a better place than ever over the last month, with a fuller team meaning that reports are being handled in a more timely manner.

We still have a backlog we're working through - we apologise if you're on this. Our goal is to move through this within the next week, as well as working closely with Management and Subteam Leaders to handle issues as they come in. We thank you for your patience, and if you need an update on a specific Staff Report, please reach out to @Adv and @Frezemis on the forums.

Since the implementation of the AI tool on /helpme's, we have seen over a 50% reduction in support tickets coming through to our team. We're thankful for the Dev team in doing what it can to help staff workloads, and get players answers to their questions in a rapid manner, each and every day.

Our team remains committed to doing all we can to provide training and support to the staff team, as well as being there for all issues that players may encounter with staff members in particular, so feel free to reach out to us at any time should you think of new ways in which we can improve our processes, to make things better.

Property Management

Happy March Folks!

Already into the third month of the year, it's truly flying by. With that said, Property Management continues to make progress to meet our goals for 2025.

The wonderful @Selena hosted the community meeting TODAY (1st March), in order to check in with the community, listen to feedback and bring up topics PM are addressing/have addressed over the last month or so. These notes can be found summarized here:

Note: Several people thought it funny to make a few targeted comments towards our lovely host during this meeting. Moving forward, comments directed at anyone in the team following the same path as the commentors from today will find themselves with administrative punishment. The community meetings aren't for trolls, it's for serious feedback. This is your only warning!

Moving on from that, PM has managed to work through the backlog of requests that have stemmed from the break. We're now almost fully caught up with only a few older requests left, and they're soon to be resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we've been dealing with those. For the most part, the community is very supportive of the workload PM deals with, so we thank you for this!

The next phase of vehicles coming into the server has been clarified (the community meeting notes gives you a list), and we'll work on pricing and implementation.

We're working on several internal overhauls to continue to smooth out UCP operations as well as user experience - stay tuned for more information about that in the coming months. It requires development resources so it's a work in progress.

Property rule revamp is waiting for @Lomadiasand @Selena to sit down and discuss. These are overdue but we'll prioritize getting these out sooner rather than later. Massive thank you to the PM team who have contributed towards those, and @colorlessrainbowfor a bunch of work writing them up and formatting them.

In the last month, we also moved a bunch of property sales threads on the forum to a new sub forum, following a wave of feedback from the community. We understand the frustration of topics being washed out by one or two people with more threads to post, so we've tried to find a solution. This will be monitored moving forward to make sure landlords and brokers aren't struggling with less interest/traffic, however given some time I'm sure people will adjust to their new location.

As always, thank you to everyone who continues to offer us constructive feedback, we are listening and trying our best to accommodate where we can.

See you next month!

Roleplay Quality Management

In February the RPQM team has received 30 reports. Before a deeper investigation is started these reports are vetted to see if they hold any merrit. This month 18 reports have been rejected or have been retracted. It is important to understand when to report to RPQM, as many of these reports either belonged within the player report section or had no evidence to conduct a proper investigation into the players that were reported. When RPQM looks at the validity of the report we take into account the date of the evidence as sometimes evidence is outdated and doesn't fit the current narrative of the player. Whilst we appreciate the reports coming we want to ask you to make sure that the report is valid, the evidence up to date and you're not merely using the RPQM reports to report a player for other things than listed by RPQM. We will not accept reports that belong within the player section. Whilst we understand that RPQM provides privacy when reporting, this is not to be abused.

During this month we've cleared some of the RPQM's backlog from previous months and have picked up a total of 22 reports, of which 21 have been concluded. Whether action against the players have been taken or not is something we do not count.

We'd like to let the community know that RPQM is not here to scrutinize you. We are here to talk to you about realism and find ways that keeps your character's original idea and at the same time follow a realistic development that is fitting for our server.  Sometimes this results in changes within the background story, the changing of the age or even change in assets.

We're looking to add more guides that are RPQM approved and helps the community follow a realistic portrayal in their area of work, be it artists, models, business owners and other concepts. You're always free to help us out and give us ideas on guides (or forward them to us) that sets realistic development. Reach out to @Kenth, @goddessoflife and @Lomadias if you're interested in helping us with this.

Events Team

The Events Team has been quite busy in the background by supporting community members host around 14 events throughout the month of February, including a mixed martial arts event at Del Perro Beach, as well as a live musical performance at the Maze Bank Arena.

Alongside community events, the team has hosted a major world event as well, which had lasting consequences on the roleplay and development for some characters and brought light into providing first responders a unique avenue of roleplay. Whilst many would think the chemical fire was a one-day event, it has truly been a multi-day event, allowing a wide range of factions, such as the Los Santos Department of Public Works, to immediately deploy the day after to start reconstructing the area devastated by the fire, as well as other government officials to roleplay any and all consequences surrounding the fire.

While we continue tinkering and doing world events with feedback in mind, we look forward to hosting future events with unique roleplay scenarios for the legal, illegal, and civilian fronts and glitter reactive effects surrounding these events.

SOME EVENTS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN MARCH

  • March 1, 2025: MetroMania Festival IV @ Kortz Center
  • March 9, 2025: Los Santos Fire Department (LSFD)'s Blood Drive @ University of San Andreas, Los Santos (ULSA) Campus

* This event listing, including dates and locations, is subject to change by their respective organizers without prior notice. You may follow the #event-calendar channel on the GTA World Events Team Discord server for schedule updates. Check out the #events channel on the GTA World Discord server for more upcoming events.

March also marks Women's History Month, along with Saint Patrick's Day on March 17. If you have an upcoming scheduled event, we would be happy to provide advice and/or disseminate your event posters, not just for these themes, but also all other concepts. Let us know by submitting a ticket in the GTA World Events Team Discord Server.

Event organizers and participants in the Americas region are advised to consider and double-check the time on scheduled events as they "spring forward" starting March 9, 2025.

Staff Management

The Quality Assurance (QA) team continues to spearhead any outstanding ban appeals, forum player reports and refund requests — another busy month reducing administrative backlogs.

The team continues to provide support to our community members directly through the Discord ticket system which is accessible to the entirety of the English community — we highly recommend players join our Discord as it can be used for out-of-the-ordinary questions, and these can be asked in private away from the rest of the community. Last month alone, the team responded to 69 different tickets on our Discord server, and these are looked at around the clock due to the diverse team covering a number of time zones.

Throughout February, there was an increase in ban appeals which were linked to retired administrators. As we continue to work through our backlogs, these were swiftly reviewed and we continue to respond to them each day. As a note, some of the appeals may be taking longer than usual (more than seven days) and these are due to our guidelines on how we handle appeals — we aim to provide a response to each appeal within seven days if the punishment was issued by a retired administrator, explaining the next steps being taken to move your appeal forward.

If your ban appeal, refund request or forum player report has had no activity from the allocated/handling staff member for at least seven days, you can raise a ticket on our Discord server seeking an update or assistance from one of our team members.

Dev Update

The past couple of months have seen the implementation of several game features, including the business manager rework, poster system, medications, fingerprints, AI-powered support for /helpme requests, and the return of the chat logs feature. In addition to these major updates, we've also significantly improved server performance and eliminated some of the lag issues that were plaguing the server at peak times. We have also introduced numerous smaller features and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback. You can find a full breakdown of these changes in the changelog information thread.

Looking ahead, we have even more exciting features in development. Our current short-term projects include:

  • Taxi System Rework
  • Fishing System Rework
  • Evidence Locker Rework
  • Chess
  • Arm-Wrestling
  • Advanced Medical System

More details will be shared as these features near completion. While we don't have specific release dates since each system varies in complexity and design, we aim to roll out all of the above in the coming few months.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, we appreciate your support and feedback!
