CCTV Script: Everything You Need to Know

You can find answers to all your questions about the CCTV script, which directly affects our characters' daily lives and is related to server rules, along with visual references, in this topic.

Available CCTV Cameras in the Server

There are two functional CCTV cameras in the server. These CCTV cameras work on a subscription system, therefore their payments are monthly. In order to cancel the payment, you will have to delete the whole CCTV with /deletecctv command.

  • 1080p CCTV Camera ($7,000/month)
  • 1080p 360 CCTV Camera ($15,000/month)

Both cameras can be purchased from any hardware store.

What Are the Differences?

  • 1080p CCTV Camera ($7,000/month): A fixed-angle camera. You cannot move the view beyond what the camera captures.
  • 1080p 360 CCTV Camera ($15,000/month): A motorized dome camera that allows you to pan around using your mouse to view different angles within its range.

What Do the Rules Say?

According to the in-game rules:
  • Interior CCTV must use script-supported CCTV items to roleplay CCTV footage.
  • Exterior CCTV can be roleplayed with either script-supported CCTV or RP-only (furniture) CCTV. While script-supported CCTV can be used on the exterior only with Partner Donator status, RP-only CCTV can be mapped in with Platinum Donator status.
  • To roleplay any CCTV, the CCTV item must be visibly mapped in on the property.
  • While viewing the CCTV footage on cctv.gta.world, the names of players are shown to you, however you should NOT know their names unless you clearly know them in-character.

CCTV Limitations and Exterior CCTV Placement

CCTV script comes with tier-specific limitations:

  • Non-Donator players can place up to 2 CCTV per character.
  • Gold Donator players can place up to 3 CCTV per character.
  • Platinum Donator players can place up to 4 CCTV per character.
  • Partner Donator players can place up to 6 CCTV per character, including exterior ones.

  • All limitations are handled per character, rather than per property or per account.
  • Partner Donator players can place exterior and interior CCTVs, while other donator statuses can only place interior ones.
  • If you don’t have Partner donator status but still want to install exterior CCTV, you can do so using normal furniture models with at least Platinum donator status. However, keep in mind that these cameras will be RP-only and not functional like script-supported CCTV. Therefore, in case you'd like to roleplay watching the footage, you have to have the chatlog, OOC clip, or admin assistance.

General CCTV Commands

  • /cctv – Access the CCTV UI where you can either enter the ID of your CCTV and watch the live footage, or connect to the CCTV network.
  • /cctv [ID] – Watch a specific CCTV camera live by directly entering its ID.
  • /givecctvaccess [CCTVID] [PLAYERID] – Grant another player access to your CCTV.
  • /removecctvaccess [CCTVID] [PLAYERID] – Remove a player's access to your CCTV.
  • /paycctvsubscription – Pay the monthly fee for your CCTV. (Note: Even if you don’t manually pay, all CCTVs are set to auto-pay monthly.)
  • /listmycctvs – View the IDs of all CCTVs owned by your character. In order to see the IDs of CCTV cameras you have access to from another character, you will need to log in at cctv.gta.world and open the "Cameras" page.
  • /deletecctv – Delete your CCTV. This will NOT refund the item or money spent.

How to Install CCTV?

Watch a quick demonstration on 360 CCTV Camera

  • Have the CCTV item in your inventory.
  • Use the "use item" command in your inventory.
  • This will automatically put you in mapping mode, and a CCTV furniture will appear inside your character.
  • Follow standard mapping controls to place the camera in the desired spot.
  • DO NOT press enter or type in chat before finalizing the mapping, this will confirm the placement, and the camera cannot be edited afterward.
  • ⚠ IMPORTANT: Once a CCTV camera is placed, currently there is no way to reposition or move it. The only option is deleting it, but the script does not offer refunds for deleted cameras.

How to View CCTV?

  • Once installation is complete, you’ll get a notification in chat with the camera’s unique ID.
  • To access the feed, use /cctv [ID] or simply /cctv to bring up the CCTV interface.
  • Past footage is stored as emote logs on https://cctv.gta.world/. You can log in with your UCP credentials to RP reviewing past recordings.

Other Information to Consider

  • Emotes performed in front of a CCTV are logged on cctv.gta.world approximately 3 to 5 minutes later.
  • The CCTV logging range varies for different emote commands. /ame and /melow require you to be very close to the CCTV. /me logs at approximately 10 meters from the camera. /melong can be logged from an even greater distance.
  • CCTV automatically records damage dealt within its range, such as a player hits another one, including the weapon name.
  • If a player changes dimensions by entering an interior, their transition is only recorded by the CCTV in the dimension they are leaving. The CCTV in the new dimension does not log their entry. For example, if a player enters a house from outside, this action is recorded only by the exterior CCTV. If a player moves from inside a house to its garage (changing dimensions again), this is recorded by the house interior CCTV, not the garage CCTV. This does not apply to Dimension 0. Characters exiting an interior to the outside are not recorded by CCTV. A transition must occur between two interiors, or a player must enter an interior from outside for it to be logged.
  • CCTV does not record players leaving a dimension. Only entries are logged, and this is subject to the previously mentioned condition.
  • If a vehicle passes near a CCTV, it records an emote detailing the vehicle's color, make, license plate, and the number of occupants. In a separate emote, it logs who is visible inside the vehicle. This is common for exterior CCTVs but is also recorded in interiors where vehicles can enter. If the number of occupants inside a vehicle is logged as "Unknown", it is most likely due to the vehicle having a high tint level.
  • In some cases, the license plate is picked up from bikes that have no license plates attached scriptly. In this case, you should consider communicating with an admin to determine if the license plate was visible or not.
  • In some cases where a player has a mask clothing attached to his face, but doesn't have his /maskname on, his name can be picked up by the CCTV. Once again, you should consider communicating with the player or an admin to determine the final outcome of the CCTV footage.
