Allow ALL characters to be 13 years and older

TL;DR: Allow legal minor characters to be the same age as illegal minor characters.

 

Currently, the server only allows characters to be below the age of 16 if they intend to join a gang (read: If not in gang, not allowed). This is further confirmed by the child welfare program requiring players who are playing characters under the age of 16 to join the faction unofficially (illegal route) - please correct me if this has changed.

 

Anyways, getting to the reason for this rule suggestion:

This is a bit of an own goal. The fundamental problem is the server encouraging young teen characters to be made specifically for gang RP, which creates exactly the toxic school environment they're now complaining about. We could also just ... ban all characters under 16 from participating in school, which would immediately solve the issue.

We need fewer Minor characters (at all, but especially under the age of 16), not more. 

The models do not accurately represent 13 year olds, the mechanics do not accurately represent 13 year olds. 

The community as a whole is not nearly sanitized or respectful enough to interact with or accurately roleplay 13 year old characters, let alone if the sample size is opened up to all players. 

Far easier and more reasonable to impose restrictions on the Davis High Faction. Allowing more 13 year olds wouldn't fix the problem, because if legal players wish to attend, they would just make 16 y/o's and do so. There is a general lack of interest in legal minor roleplay as compared to illegal. The issues do not stem from the age requirement.

I'm probably one of the few (yes, there are more) people who RP a legal minor char and don't RP going to that shithole named Davis HS.

We need a new school honestly,  and it would be nice to have it mostly for legal characters to prevent another Davis HS situation.

if anything the server needs to remove minor characters not encourage more. it’s kind of weird u care so much about 13 year old characters to create this suggestion as well… nobody wants this

Minors were supposedly designed around the concept for criminal characters to age up after serving time in prison to allow them to climb ranks within gangs and such. Earn some real cred and then growing up. We have far too many as it stands and staff barely regulate FB where we have some posting r19 content. I can't even fathom what it'll be like with allowing legal characters the same and those focusing solely on the social media outlet. Rather cut (M) out than support anything more getting added to the scene.

I'm sort of inclined to agree on your first point - seeing what Davis has become. But the hope with allowing more legal chars was that some of the illegals would switch over.

What are you insinuating? It's a bit weird that all you could focus on was that aspect, and ignore everything else. Very weird indeed.

Gonna be a very big -1 on this one.

People aren't don't know how to accurately roleplay 16 years olds; they are either just adults in everything except age, or they act like they're 5 years old, there is hardly anything in between. Lowering that to 13 will be just worse.

Besides, the in game models don't support anything close to someone that age. It's always very weird to see someone who's 16 just looking like a 30+ biker, 13's are pre-teens with an adult PED, it's just not clicking.

As others said above, the server if anything needs less minors characters, not more.
