Adv
Community Update - February 2025 Introduction 2025 has already kicked off to a great start, and it's been great seeing so many players continue to enjoy the community throughout the month of January. We've continued to see so many great events, opportunities to interact with each of you through natural progression of RP, as well as all gathering together to help overcome some performance related bugs. Thank you to everyone who's helped out this month! Please, take your time to read through each section that the subteams have put together to help make you more aware of what's coming up this month. Subteam Updates Staff Management Property Management Legal Faction Management Illegal Faction Management RP Quality Management Events Team Quality Assurance Select from the teams above to see updates from each team. Staff Management Staff Management's goal continues to remain to do all it can to support the staff, and players of this server in a quick time as possible. As we set out last month, our goals, more than ever, are to provide an ever faster, more present service in handling staff reports, and a lot of this has been helped by some of our newer members. Effion and Monster, though veterans of the team have been back in the community for a few months now and have served Staff Management consistently with an active and level-headed approach. They've taken a lot of time to get to know the ropes, and are continuously thinking of new ways to continue to engage with the community, and staff members alike to help make the team better overall, and as such, we're happy to promote them both to Senior Admin this month. Thank you both, for the hard work you continue to put in, and to the rest of Staff Management who continue to make great strides in this regard. We look forward to continuing to implement ideas that you bring to the team to make things better overall, for everyone. January has seen... 12,410 In-Game Reports 7,620 Support Tickets 2,552 Applications 196 Forum Reports 104 Asset Transfers 211 Refund Requests Property Management As we creep into the second month of the year, PM has already started to make strides into envisioning what this year is going to look like for us. Much of this will come over the future months so it won't be summed up now, but there's a lot of QOL implementations coming for us over the UCP which will improve the handling of various requests. We've seen and participated in a few forum threads which have showcased positives and negatives of numerous sub-teams, PM being one of them. Some of the criticism is completely valid, and are all things PM is looking to improve over 2025 already, mainly focusing on the player experience when communicating with us. We will continue to participate in these discussions where constructive discussions and feedback is respectfully given, because we should strive for continuous improvement. So far this month, we've come back from the winter break which has left the team motivated and ready for the year. The amount of requests PM get month to month is staggering, from discord tickets to UCP requests and in game reports, it truly is never ending. This is why PM has a fairly large team to deal with the strain of the workload. We will continue to try and pump requests out as quickly as we can without creating mass burn out across the team, and we're also proud to bring in 5 new admins over December and January who are getting up to speed and have hit the ground running. Gibbz has been working behind the scenes and has given PM more modularity with a couple of scripts, giving us more opportunities to help players with the scripts we have without having to fall back to manual things over the forums, which only adds another layer of things to try and manage. He was also the developer you can thank for bringing us the 4k /startshift bonus for the bar script, which has so far been a welcomed addition. @Selena has been working on our UCP integrations, with several new features hitting the live environment soon, both for players to make use of, but also to streamline our own internal processes. From additions in the property panel, formatting improvements and QOL administrative changes, we're off to a strong start. The poster system has given businesses a breath of life with the ability to have awesome custom artwork outside of the stores to make things pop a little more. There is more coming for this which we will update you on once it's ready, but it should provide a cool new advertising solution on a rotational basis. We had the first house cycle of the year, seeing over 80 requests hitting the UCP. The team are all over these, they do take a little longer to handle because they are usually longer to read and process than business requests. We are however, seeing a shortage of properties for housing, which we knew we would eventually hit because we open them more frequently. We are also considering delaying the house cycle and making it bi-monthly instead of monthly, so we can focus more efforts on business cycles, but also to slow down the amount of requests that the housing cycle conflicts with, which should increase the turn around of other types of request too. The lease cycle also opened and we're over 100. We knew this first request cycle of the year would be intense, so we just ask for some patience while we go through them. Legal Faction Management For the month of January and the start of February, Legal Faction Management has been paying closer attention to activity for faction leaders, our objective is to ensure faction leaders have a clearer understanding of the faction from a view of a member's perspective, the best way for them to do so is to be active in-game, this is something we've somewhat neglected throughout last year, but now we're remaining committed to enforcing activity standards throughout the ranks including faction leaders. One major thing LFM is focused on over the next few months is political roleplay and how this can be improved, following feedback from the community, and we'll continue working on new ways to sharpen this over the next few weeks. We're always open to your feedback, so feel free to let us know if there's anything Legal Faction Management can do to enhance your overall experience. Illegal Faction Management IFM spent the first part of the month catching up on the holidays backlog, though schemes were open for a couple of weeks and will continue opening monthly, meaning they’ll be opening again very soon. We’ve also been working alongside the modding team to streamline illegal faction modding requests which currently lack a straightforward process from request to implementation. Two announcements targeted towards the illegal community went out this month. The first came from Property Management and pertained to leased offices being used as stashes, which is no longer permitted. We tacked a note about stashes in vehicles onto this announcement due to there being confusion about it; in short, a vehicle is okay to hold a PF gun or 1-2 weapons but a despawned vehicle should absolutely not be used as a stash - this constitutes powergaming and bug abuse and will be punished accordingly with both bans and possible item wipes. The second announcement introduced a number of changes towards faction CKs, coup ABAS requirements, umbrella factions, and included clarifications regarding the roles of faction leaders. The full announcement and changelog can be seen in our Discord (Click here to join), which you should really consider joining if you’re not there already. Roleplay Quality Management RPQM has steamrolled into the new year busier than ever before. Reports have picked up over Christmas and January and with the team still being small, it's a work in progress to get through them all. However with that said, we have welcomed several new members to the team who are working hard to get up to date with how RPQM is going to work moving forward, so we can reform into a sub-team that serves the community better. We have noticed an increase in "petty" reports and reports with no evidence. RPQM is not there to open an investigation on a loose suspicion, but will act on evidence provided, assuming it falls outside of a player report scenario. Players report others for one-time incidents that should be resolved as a normal player report, and is not an indication of bad roleplay. Of the 16 new RPQM reports made in January, 4 have so far been dismissed, and not all have been reviewed yet. January marks the start of the new RPQM, and we've begun to work on the next "phase" of the teams evolution; community guides. The first guide is a work in progress, and two members of the community have been brought together to help RPQM understand more about their roleplay and write a comprehensive guide for players wishing to focus on that roleplay moving forward. We have targeted an under appreciated and under supported avenue of roleplay for this, however it is also a concept that has raised a significant amount of concern. When we have more to show of this, we'll update you. Other than that, the team continues to grow. The expectation is that all administrators should be able to "handle" an RPQM concern and guide a player to think about approaching roleplay in a more realistic way, however being a game there is a fine line between micro-managing and upholding standards. This is a line that RPQM will define and work to keep clear. Events Team Cover photo courtesy of @Degu In the first month of 2025, the Events Team has accommodated 36 official queries and supported ~15 scaled events, including the Los Santos New Year's Celebration, anniversaries, birthday surprises, career fairs, night markets, press conferences, protests (not including the "shark protest"), pyrotechnic displays, wedding ceremonies, and luck-filled Lunar New Year celebrations. The organizers' dedication to these events — from planning to execution — was truly splendid, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved. Likewise, congratulations to the participants who topped the strength test leaderboard at the Eurasian Night Market, as well as to those who earned their forklift certification during the Port of Los Santos' birthday event. Speaking of luck, you may have noticed the Lunar New Year-themed decorations scattered throughout Burton, Little Seoul, Mission Row, and Textile City. We want to give our special thanks to @frdudeidk, @Homiecide, and @VixenNoire for spreading luck and life to these Asian-centric areas, as well as @tayswiz for their contributions to this mapping project. February also marks Black History Month and the "love month" (Valentine's Day... and Singles Awareness Day?). If you have an upcoming scheduled event, we would be happy to provide advice and/or disseminate your event posters, not just for these themes, but also all other concepts. Let us know by submitting a ticket in the GTA World Events Team Discord Server. Quality Assurance The Quality Assurance team has gone through it's second month, and with that we have had a chance to improve on our mission. We have managed to severely reduce the back log of ban appeals and refunds request, making sure forum reports are not left un attended and generally fought to help anyone who has created a ticket in our discord. In the month of January QA has handled 155 cases of reports and appeals, which is a 166,667% increase from December. The QA senior Amellis unfortunately left QA during the month and that was a huge loss, they were very appreciated within the team. Amellis deserves the credit for setting up the ticketing system and discord and their general leadership potential within the team. Quality Assurance will continue to be available to the community, so if your report/appeal or request is outstanding for more than 7 days? Join the discord and make a ticket and the QA team will attend to it as fast as they can. Dev Update After taking our first big update of the year from Game Development - followed up by some amazing work so far this year, we decided to flip and speak with Everett about Web Development this month, and what is coming at the start of this year! AI Assistant We'd like to extend our gratitude to the members of the AI Contributor team who regularly help us improve the bot's answers to user questions by tracking different answers of the AI bot and providing corrections. This greatly helps us deliver instant, quality support to our player-base. We will continue improving the functionality of the bot and we'd also like to remind you that our AI Contributor team is open for applications for those who want to help out. Upcoming changes to website regulations & streamlined website approval process We will release an updated set of regulations for websites that operate within the GTA World environment, in order to enhance security, protect users and minimise different misunderstands or confusion related to different subjects that happened in the past. In addition to this, we will provide an easy way to apply for an OAuth client for the purpose of authenticating users, which will replace the need to apply for website approval requests via forum PM. URL shortener In light of recent events and after several versions of unofficial URL shorteners, an official, GTA World hosted URL shortener will be released during February. This will make sure that your shortened URLs remain safe. We're really excited for what this can bring, and thankful to all the developers assisting in keeping our community fresh each and every day.
