How do you drive while inserting an IV? And if you're in a partnered unit, how do you safely insert a delicate needle into a vein in someone's arm without causing damage while bouncing along a city street? Link to comment

You put it in the ambulance, then drive. Edited June 3, 2019 by Roach Link to comment

When someone's lost a lot of blood, such as from a GSW, it's really important to get fluids back into their system to stabilise their circulatory system, such as blood loss and perfusion etc. Oxygen is also given as soon as possible, outside of the ambulance. If they're in a deadly situation, such as in Grove Street, or other criminals might retaliate, they get them in the ambulance. That's Fear RP. Link to comment

That's Fear RP. You cannot move a patient with diminishing oxygen sats, depleting blood pressure and dropping heart rate without treatment. They will die. That is why ambulance carry so much equipment and so much apparatus. Scene security isn't down to FD, we certainly don't rush people into the back of an ambulance because a hoodlum might shoot us. IVs are set up on scene as they are IRL. It takes all of 30 seconds to get to the nearest hospital so again that's asking us to cut out RP that's needed. Link to comment

That doesn't mean the scene is not still dangerous, dangerous areas cause for more Fear RP. Police are almost always outnumbered in these scenario's, and FD should take that into account.
