CaffeineHigh
The LSPD and LSSD are very fucky wucky when it comes to SHAFT law. In 2022, I defended a member of the public who as being run over by firing at the vehicle until it left, as a PF holder. I was nearly arrested because Female Officer 1 thought that PF holders weren't allowed to defend themselves if they don't have a PF - and I RP'ed keeping that weapon in my Glovebox, and RP'ed yanking it out. It's a 50/50 from me. SHAFT law really needs to be clarified to a lot of LEO's. 2 Link to comment

Well, whoever was punished they should probably appeal as I agree that from an IC perspective that if someone is in progress of escaping with your stolen car they should be allowed to shoot them. I probably doubt this was the case as administration is pretty good about these scenarios. Edited December 9, 2024 by Parade Link to comment

I am working with some senators in character through my organization called San Andreas Guard Association (named SAGA to parody MAGA) which is essentially the NRA mixed in with guard rights stuff to rework the SHAFT Act. One of the things on my to-do list before the end of the year is write and publize a break-down of the SHAFT Act and what each line implies. I hope to clarify some issues with a potiental SHAFT Act rework. Edited December 9, 2024 by Parade 1 Link to comment

If you shoot someone for breaking into your car IRL, you're going to prison. That's not 2nd amendment or protecting your property, thats attempted murder. Agreed. But it should still be handled IC in my opinion. Let that person get arrested and put in trial for attempted murder. Immediately having an admin step in to ban the person is the wrong move in my opinion. This is a roleplay server, so why are we not letting people roleplay the consequences for their actions? 3 Link to comment

I am roleplaying a serial killer character so when I shoot u in the head tomorrow don't report me, take it ic. see u ingame ScarletRose 1 Link to comment
Parade
We need more context really. An admin will have to state why exactly the person was banned. Link to comment

Lots of people come to GTA:W for different RP experiences and going to court in a dragged out process where not guilty has been removed is not most legal players idea of RP. Ban for a few days is probably less punishment ironically. But honestly stop hand tying everyone when it's based on USA and guns are used for self defence from things like car jackings and muggings. Conspiracy Theorist
Even in states with stand your ground laws, killing someone who’s stealing your unoccupied vehicle is a one way trip to the state penitentiary. That’s murder. now one could argue “oh but keep it IC and go to court”. With the amount of car robberies on the server, if even a quarter ended in death of an individual, the court system would be so overwhelmed it would turn OOC quick. You’d have CCW individuals losing their licenses, trying to fight it in court, then getting stuck in prison for 3-4 months because of the immense backlog. This is why admins have to punish those who kill someone who’s stealing a car, it’s to protect the very fragile legal system that’s almost always overworked and back logged 1 Link to comment
