Lilypad
How To Create Custom Items Throughout the year we have various gift giving events such as birthdays, Valentines Day, Easter, Christmas, and more. This guide takes you through how to create items that might be a little tricky to track down in game that you decide to roleplay your character ordering online. 1. Find the item that you want to gift In this scenario my character wants to gift their friend a crochet set for a Secret Santa gift. They have mentioned it's something they really want to try but I'm struggling to track down a store that sells these. By going on Amazon, or any other shopping site, I have found a gift that I want to give for the friend and downloaded the picture. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure that if you are using REAL LIFE BRANDS you adhere to the server rules. The name of the brand is able to be used in the name, however you cannot have the brand itself shown in the picture. For example, if you are gifting a pair of NIKE trainers ensure you remove any branded logos to avoid breaking this rule. Further can be found in the continuity summary. There are a plethora of tools that can be used to edit images. 2. Edit the image/remove the background There are many different editing tools that you can use from the most basic tools such as Paint to more extensive tools such as Photoshop. I personally use Canva. My go to for removing background images is https://www.photoroom.com/tools/background-remover. It's an easy and free tool to use. Spoiler Before using the background remover tool: After using the background remover tool: Using the background remover ensures that when the player uses the item in game you have no background behind the image. 3. Requesting the item via UCP. Navigating the left panel on your UCP page you can go through the following steps: 1. Go to Properties & Businesses 2. Select 'Requests' (Drop Down List) 3. Select 'Submit A Request' 4. Select 'Request An Item' (The second to last option in the list) You will be brought to a page that requests you to fill in a variety of different details, you will also be prompted with the below information explaining what these items can be used for: Quote Guide to Requesting an Item You can use this scheme to request items for personal or roleplay use that cannot be obtained or are difficult to obtain in game Examples: Item request for personal use (can be roleplayed as amazon) Item request for business use (reselling) Item request for events/one-time use. Begin filling in the relevant details by selecting your character name, the location you want the item to spawn, and the reason behind requesting the item. Ensure that the location you wish to spawn your item at whether it is your inventory or a property has sufficient space otherwise it will lead to your items not appearing. 4. Requested Items Form You have a few different drop down lists with a variety of options. For the gift I will select 'Goods' so that this is a permanent item which does not disappear upon use. IMPORTANT NOTE: 'SingleGoods', which are single-use items, cannot have images assigned to them. Furthermore, items such as alcohol and tobacco items cannot be requested - these are super easily sourced in game! Select the amount of items you want to create. Since this is a gift for one person I am only going to add the value '1'. The 'item name' refers to what the item name will be shown as in the player inventory. I have decided that my character has ordered this crochet kit from the store 'Hobby Lobby', and so I will name it '[Hobby Lobby] Penguin Crochet Kit'. The value refers to how much the item is going to cost. This is entirely up to you as the buyer, however it should be realistic. For example, in real life the crochet kit select costs 9.49 therefore I am going to set the price at around $100 to round it up and times by ten. This isn't an official way for how things should be priced, it's just an idea. The minimum value you can apply is $30. Next to the value box you have an 'image' icon, when you click this you will get a large variety of options. Choose an icon that is most relevant to the item you are creating and this will be shown as the icon in the players inventory. Once all of these sections are filled in click 'Add item'. Now, your page should look like this: Spoiler Now, press continue and your screen will look like this so you can double check all of your details. Spoiler Finally, we wait for the item request to be fulfilled and for your item to be spawned in game! 5. Assigning an image Your item does not come with an image and if you 'use' the item prior to assigning one nothing will show up, so here is what we're going to do. Now that you have your item, have edited image and the background is removed you need to upload the image to Imgur. This is what we use in game to assign images in a variety of ways and is also used for assigning images to items. If the item has spawned into your property instead of your inventory ensure to retrieve it to be in your inventory itself. Open your inventory, or use the commands /items to see what ID number the item is. Use the command /assignimage [Item ID] You will get a prompt that reads 'You've set an image to [Item Name]'. When you use 'item' the final product should look something like this: Spoiler If you have any questions or if there is anything unclear feel free to let me know and I will happily edit this or answer as we go. colorlessrainbow
Good to note that the SingleGoods type is not compatible with /assignimage, and players should also account for the inventory size of their property, should they select a property for “spawn location”. In some cases, items might also only show after the daily restart, and we charge 50% of the full sum. Oh and also, the minimum item value is $30. We also don’t spawn alcohol or tobacco items, as these can be obtained from in-game stores, and players are generally expected to make an effort at trying to acquire these custom items from player ran stores if applicable! Good guide, thank you for taking the time to write this up! 2 1 Link to comment
