Welcome

 

Hi all! And welcome to the spoookiest staff update of them all, the October update! 

 

We hope you’ve all had a great month, and are very much looking forward to the month ahead as we enter spoooky season! 

This month has been a pretty busy one across the board, from all sides of the community.

 

Firstly, this month, we have to say a big thank you to @Shanks, who has been a long serving Manager, administrator, and friend to so many of us in the community, who chose to retire earlier this month. 

 

Shanks was a massive part of our faction management team for almost half a decade, helping work with both sides. We are very grateful for his time, and everything and everyone he worked with in that space. We wish him nothing but the best with his future. 

 

In Shanks’s place, @khadijeh. has now taken on the mantle of Head of Faction Management. A long serving head of IFM, with a ton of Legal Faction Leadership experience, she’s the perfect person for the role and we’re beyond happy to have her fill this new role.

 

She's already been hard at work for the last two weeks working closely with both IFM and LFM leadership and we are very excited for this work to continue. 

 

This month, our goal as a management team, and across the staff team as a whole is to find new and better ways to engage people in unique and dynamic events, and this has lead to the redevelopment of the Events Team. Sharvit has taken this mantle as our new Head of Events and we are really excited for the work he and his team will be completing over the next few months.

 

Development Update

As always our dev teams work behind the scenes to try and bring you not only the most stable platform, but also the best features, and this month has seen two massive new features be added that we are beyond excited for you guys to enjoy. 

 

The new phone system has been a passion project of Gibbz for the past 3 months and we are beyond impressed with how this has turned out! 

 

With group messages, group calls, a better and more retained history, as well as loads of new features and apps, we are very very excited at what this brings. 

 

There's a lot of talk about future apps too and ongoing development now that Gibbz has layed the ground work so we are beyond excited at what could be the next generation in

phone apps available in and around the game.

We've also seen the amazing work of nickM with our Environmental Events system, to help find new ways to engage with players regularly, which you can also read more about below: 

 

 

 

We're incredibly grateful to all the devs for their hard work as always this month.

 

Events Team

As some are aware, last month @Sharvit took the lead over the Events Team as management.

 

The decision was made to allow the Events Team to have all of the necessary tools to grow and become a fully pledged team.

 

The overall plan is to have a bigger, more proactive team, with less bureaucracy, better communications, and more events created for the enjoyment of the community.

@Giga has been unofficially managing the teams for months while putting tons of hours and effort into making sure that we'll have many events to enjoy.  As the team grows and builds its own internal structure, we would like to thank him for all of his efforts and give him official recognition as the Assistant Head of Events! 
We would also like to thank @Biscuit for all of the time and effort he put into the team in the past year alongside Giga and give him the deserved recognition as a Senior Events Member!

What’s been done so far?

By the end of this week, we will officially be moving event requests off the forums and over to the Events Team Discord server to ensure a smoother and more efficient process of communication between the events theam to  event organizers and factions. An official announcement will be made once the transition is fully completed.

Additionally, we’ve added a new process for Venue Owners on our Discord server, enabling them to easily advertise their venues for both private and public events.

We’ve also introduced an Events Calendar channel, allowing organizers to quickly familiarize themselves with current planned events and avoid date overlaps with other major events.

What’s coming in the future?

Looking ahead, the Events Team is working on creating tens of environmental events that will be randomly triggered around the server to enrich the atmosphere of Los Santos. These events will range from subtle environmental changes, such as fallen trees, leaking hydrants, or malfunctioning electrical boxes, to more advanced interactions. We are eager to hear your ideas and suggestions for these events, so please join the Events Team Discord and share your creativity with us!
 

We’re incredibly excited for what’s to come, and we will continue to update you as things progress.

Property Management

Property Management have been continuing their hard work, and continued progression as much as possible, and we're incredibly grateful for their continued work and support, including their ongoing community meetings they host each month to try and give everyone the chance to feedback and voice their own opinions on processes.

 

With that said, we'd like to congratulate @Deveroni on promotion to Assistant Head of Property Requests. We thank them for their ongoing support over the past few months and welcome them into the new role in the team.

 

Event Feature

In September, the community was involved and participated in various events across San Andreas, from night markets, festivals, time trial competitions, career fairs, and general business openings.

 

Just as San Andreas is about to conclude the summer season, the alarming rise in environmental temperatures led to a significant event in the northern portion of the state. On September 27, 2024 (Friday), a portion of the Paleto Forest, located near Paleto Bay, was scorched by a wildfire.

 

This nearly four-hour environmental event was primarily organized by the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (SAN FIRE) and Los Santos Fire Department (LSFD), with the participation of a wide range of factions, including the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department (LSSD), Pillbox Hill Medical Center (PHMC), Aurum Corporation (AURUM), Office of Emergency Services (OES), Office of the City Mayor (LSGOV), Office of the Lieutenant Governor (SAGOV), San Andreas Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (SADCR), as well as media outlets Los Santos Insider (LSI) and Los Santos Tribune covering the event, and, of course, with Gigabyte coordinating the event to add and control the flow.

 

In the aftermath, a community-driven clean-up event, the Paleto Forest Fire Clean-up, was held on September 29, 2024 (Sunday), which banded not only various factions, but also businesses and the greater dedicated Paleto Bay Community whom keep the spirit of county roleplay thriving.

With the spooky season approaching, we are looking forward to see the spooky events being prepared where everyone can participate. One such event is "Spooktacular" to be held on October 19, 2024 (Saturday), at the Kortz Center in Pacific Bluffs, which is organized by the Los Santos Fire Department.
