Folks Gang

 

The Barrio Folks 13 gang started in the early 1970s as a Marijuana gang known as Marijuana Folks primarily centered around the Laguna Place area. Starting off as a gang of Mexican immigrants who liked to smoke weed, their original purpose was to provide a sense of community to their neighborhood by acting as a sort of "community watch" for the rival gangs in the area breaking into houses and picking on street vendors. Influenced by larger street gangs and members going into prison and affiliating themselves with a prison gang, they would reform into the Barrio Folks 13 gang claiming the Southside banner. 

 

Around the 1980s the Crack Epidemic broke out in Los Santos which was a major power point and profit earner for the Barrio Folks 13 gang. Taking advantage of this they began to market a major Crack Cocaine distribution ring throughout North and North Eastern Los Santos. With this came police attention where the LSPDs corrupt CRASH unit began to crack down on them, arresting younger members in possession of the drugs and interrogating them. Another issue that came with the drug business was competition, where the Barrio Folks gang would get into a dangerous conflict with Gran Vista 13 and the Vinewood Locos MS-13 clique. Shootings would occur all over Vinewood with gang members and innocent civilians being caught in the fire.

 

Laguna Place & Spanish Avenue

Although they aren't the biggest gang in Vinewood, they make up for it with the violent behavior they are known to carry with the younger members. When driving or walking through Laguna Place and Spanish Avenue in West Vinewood you'll begin to know the neighborhood because of the graffiti. LSPD and LSSD were able to document the Barrio Folks gang and their clique of younger members "Little Chicos" were responsible for over 75k in vandalism fines in the area of Laguna Place.

Some of this graffiti in the area was responsible to other gangs though which were rivals to Barrio Folks 13. Gangs such as Gran Vista 13, MS-13, Parkview Piru Bloods, and other smaller tag crews. 

 

Some cliques that are known within the gang are Los Vagos Malditos, Tiny Lokos, and Lil Chicos. 

 

Operation Three Point Fork

On 02/19/2012 the Los Santos Sheriff's Department's OSS Unit conducted a joint operation raid with the Los Santos Police Department GED Unit to take down prominent members of the Barrio Folks gang. Over 6 well known members and a girlfriend, three of them being notorious gang members known in the news for being accused of shootings and murders. The group of men and one woman would go down for an abundant of charges stacked on top of eachother in a RICO case indicted by the San Andreas State Courts. 

 

The men would be arrested on suspicions of being involved in Racketeering on local businesses such as gas stations, food places, and local food vendors. Another thing that a few were accused of was using Skimmers and SMS Text fraud scams by posing as Sheriff's Department members trying to collect fines for "not being present on Jury Duty". All were convicted of being involved in a methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking ring throughout Vinewood, Los Santos. Some extra charges were placed after informants came forward pointing out 2 men and their girlfriend for being involved with the murder of a rival gang member. 

 

The Towers

The Towers or otherwise known as the Laguna Place Apartment Complexes is a series of tall apartment buildings where the Barrio Folks gang lays claim to. Being a stronghold for the gang an abundance of their members live their and they've adopted the nickname "The Towers" for it.

 

Members of the gang can be seen hanging around this area dealing drugs or spraying graffiti on the walls. Many of the apartments are ran down and infested with roaches because of their low quality living and only being used for cooking dope or hiding drugs. Most kids growing up here are bound to have a life that goes downhill being surrounded by drug dealers and drug addicts. 

 

Vinewood, Los Santos

Vinewood, Los Santos is a more upscale incorporated community in the city of Los Santos. Although being known for it's extravagant clubs and tall penthouse buildings in the upper part of it. It has a dark side in the lower areas where the lesser and unemployed live. Although, in the recent years it has been better due to gentrification that came during the early 2010s. An influx of gang members have recently been making their way back into the streets after the release of gang members that lived in Vinewood and apartments going back to the cheaper rent prices due to an influx of immigrants in the newer years.

 

With this comes kids with opportunities to prove themselves. Some are doing it to be cool while some are doing it to make money, none the less, older gang members take advantage of this immaturity and use it to brainwash the kids into thinking that what they are doing is justified. This caused a upshot of the crime rate in the Vinewood area specifically in car jackings and house invasions. You can find teenagers roaming the street wearing baggy jeans with expensive hoodies and chains on who are most likely carrying a gun as well.

Barrio Folks 13 is a fictional Sureño gang that originated as a Marijuana Gang in Vinewood. Our aim is to accurately portray a modern Sureño gang in the north side of Los Santos and provide an enjoyable experience to whoever roleplays with our faction.
