GTAW 3.7: Development blog

Our new 3.7 major update is now ready to be showcased, with many highly anticipated features to come live soon! The main new feature of this update, which required months of work, will be a full phone rework. The entire old code has been scrapped and the UI has also been removed, to re-create a new one completely from scratch with amazing features that you'll discover just below!

 

We're also going to be adding lot of new games : from bowling to a revamped airsoft and soccer being back, along with arcade games! These minigames are made to improve your fun on GTAW while roleplaying with your character on interesting activities.

 

Finally, we're also testing the first phase of our new custom CEF texture script that allows players to place their own images on wall! The goal is to later enable it in the outside world dimension so that players can change for example the banner of a business or place advertisements on billboards!

 

Multiple UI improvements have also been made, with a revamp of the trucking UI. We can't wait for you to check out all these features ingame early September! The deployment will be done in multiple tests to ensure that each features work properly on production.

NEW FEATURES

 

1. New phone @Gibbz

 

The phone script has been completely remade from scratch. Unlike our previous attempts at reworking the script, this time, we have completely removed the old code and interface and remade everything anew. The goal of this rework was to provide players with a phone script that fits into modern times. The script has neared its completion and will be launching with the new additional features:

 

• Ability to take pictures & share them through the in-game smart phone/camera, without ever needing to tab out or leave the game.
• Photo gallery, usable with the above-mentioned point or by adding/importing your own imgur links as well, to save them on your phone.
• Group phone calls.
• Functional group chats with no delays or lag.
• Call QOL features, such as hold and mute.
• CashTap, a way to send and receive money with your username instead of revealing your full name/routing number. (This is subject to daily/weekly limits and can still be investigated by admins/law enforcement agencies, details to follow.)
• Favorite contacts/photos.
• Profile pictures.

 

While the new phone will roll out with the features mentioned above, and will also maintain feature parity with the current phone (meaning that any feature that exists on the current phone will continue to exist in the new script), the goal of the rework was to provide a solid foundation on which we could expand and add more apps/customization to as we go. So this is only the beginning as we continue to tweak and improve the script, given that it will now be easy to modify.

 

In addition, expect to see general performance optimizations as a result of the phone rework as the new architecture minimizes the use of client resources as much as possible.

 

Finally, while this script will be subject to thorough testing by our staff team prior to release, we understand that bugs will arise in production for functions that could not be tested or that issues may occur once a large number of players begin using the script. As such, I will personally dedicate my time for the first few days and weeks of the launch to ensure that any reported bugs are hotfixed immediately and your experience is not impacted. In short, we are as excited as you are for the launch; just please bear with us for the first few days/weeks following release as we listen to your feedback and iron out any issues that may have been missed.

2. Airsoft v2 @Azelat

 

Airsoft has been revamped to include game configurations with preset settings that you'll be able to save! These settings will allow business owners to fully customize their games and bring new gamemodes (team deathmatch, CTF...)

 

You can also customize the guns used, and the spawn points by creating multiple spawn points on a map of your choice.

3. Bowling @Nervous @Kopra

 

We're in the process of developping a bowling minigame based on Kopra's script synced with all the players to allow you to have bowling nights with your friends! Take a look at the current development of the system :

4. Load custom images & videos ingame on any texture you want! @Nervous @Kopra

 

Kopra has created a way to print any URL (images, websites..) on a CEF rectangle that you can create to show to all players, and you can create multiple of it with different URLs!

For now, it'll be limited to property interiors to analyze the resource load & potential issues on some computers, before being later authorized in exteriors.

The feature will at first be limited to platinum / partner players, but we're very excited to see what you're going to do about it!

5. Arcade games @Azelat

 

Arcade games are now available by using the associated furnitures, you can place them inside your home or business and play various games such as Pacman!

 

 

Player commands

- /createarcade [game] > Create the machine at the admin position. game name available for now: Pacman, Tetris, Pinball and Snake, SnakeSnakeSnake (case sensitive)

- /deletearcade [id]

- /setarcadegame [id] [game name]

Admin commands :

- /setarcadebiz [id arcade] [id business]

- /gotoarcade [id]

6. Mechanic car lifting @Joost

 

A new system is being added to lift cars and improve the immersion of mechanics roleplay!

7. Improved trucking UI @Joost

 

The trucking UI has been improved for better readability, with features like total distance tracking, goods type filtering, and a 'skip pickup' option. Players can now manage deliveries more efficiently, even after a crash, and sort deliveries by distance, crates, or price.

8. Gun throwing animation @Ashmoday

 

You'll now be able to throw your equipped weapon through the window of your car or when you're on foot by pressing K (can be changed in settings)

9. Modding updates

 

@BadassBaboon has prepared  multiple cool updates, including a car & kart racing track replacing the current horse track of Los Santos! Take a look below.

 

An offshore island very very far from Los Santos will also be added in the sea and has been fully modeled by @BadassBaboon :
