Degu
About Insider - Photography - News - Join Us - Social Media - Insider Tip Line Inside Rabbitx: The Legion Threatening Los Santos' Cybersecurity Written by Gabriel Stone 24/08/2024 On the 22nd of July a website domain by the name of Rabbitx emerged with contents specifically tailored towards the citizens of Los Santos. On August 5th Rabbitx produced a firm warning via a distorted voice recording stating "You. Are. Not. Safe" The initial message attempted to affirm that Rabbitx both 'is not a joke' and not an 'anonymous wannabe' looking for attention. The speaker goes on to ask "How many do you think we are?" suggesting that Rabbitx is not one person, but an organized group, proclaiming itself to be a "legion about to descend on Los Santos" with the clear goal of tapping into phones, computers, wireless devices and "anything else you can put a f***ing current into" The following message labeled 'Shall We Play A Little Game?' encourages listeners to start tagging up 'Rabbitx' around the city and spread awareness, claiming that they will see participants and protect them going forward. They also claimed that they would not target the innocent unless they were deserving of it, or unless they acted against Rabbitx. Following this request to the public, Rabbitx decided to make an example of someone and chose Detective Ferguson of the LSSD's Narcotics Bureau. The speaker discussed Ferguson with particular distaste, describing him to be racist and leaving off with a final message "... No matter what measures you take... You. Are. Not. Safe." Since then various people have commented on the website, some being government employees using their real names as usernames. The site has been met with ridicule and criticism, among few responses from the host. Some days later on August 9th a reversed audio file was posted listing multiple names, many of which are government employees. However on August 17th LSSD confirmed that it had seized the domain, listing on Rabbitx's landing page the collaboration of the Major Crimes Bureau, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, The Joint National Intelligence Center, and Homeland Security Investigations. The home page on the website now states "We are reviewing this site's backend data. If you have information to report about cyber criminal activity on Rabbitx, please contact us". We reached out to Rabbitx via the comments section on their domain and were quickly contacted back and allowed to perform a short interview via email that shed further light on both Rabbitx's intentions, goals and motivations. Any information that is redacted contains personal information we are unable to publish at this stage. Interview Q: What is Rabbitx? A: Rabbitx started as an alias of one person, and this one person began to share their beliefs across the dark web, many people began to flock to the alias having common beliefs and many of these people were tested when it came to how trustworthy they were, many failed, but many also passed, this process was a long one yet a necessary one. Q: What are Rabbitx's long-term goals? A: The goal of Rabbitx is to do what's necessary to have people become aware of the dangers of technology, even the ones they use in their day-to-day lives, we constantly see many people become victim to many different things surrounding technology, and we are looking to force people to become aware of the dangers, and the scams that happen to them without them even knowing. People simply having the knowledge is not enough, we have tried many different methods and only one will be effective enough... action, fear AND knowledge. Q: What are your motivations? A: There is a reason we use the term "you are not safe" and this is because people are not, this can be thought of in different ways, a statement, a threat... it doesn't matter which to us. We are intelligent people, we see all the dangers present in technology that many people do not, cyber-terrorism has been a thing for over a century, yet its rarely mentioned on the news... that's because countries for the longest time now have studied cyber attacks for warfare and hold many things back from the public, now including their cyber warfare as a "national secret" as they do with nuclear warheads. Our motivation lies in showing the people how some of these things really work and how dangerous they are in today's society, we want the people to be safe with technology, to understand it better, before the ignorance will potentially destroy them in a potential of many different ways. Did you know that Los Santos has no cyber-crime laws, legislation or an investigative law agency around it? Q: Your comments on Ferguson seem to come from a place of personal experience, is this true? A: Our comments about Ferguson may appear personal however that is not the case. We do not like any entities that belittle others or attack them with racist comments, if it were so personal then Ferguson would no longer be employed with the information we have on him. He was made an example of as stated, and given his disgusting behavior he was chosen as a result. We are very careful to not damage the entire system in Los Santos given the large amount of information we have, that is not our goal, our goal was to show people that not even a corrupt detective like Ferguson is safe, we have people involved from all areas of life and the Police departments are no exception to that, if we wanted Los Santos to burn, it would already be utter chaos. Q: Do you draw from any inspirations? A: No. We are our own people doing what we believe in to save Los Santos from itself. Q: Have you seen any of the Rabbitx tags around the city that you asked for? A: Yes, we have seen them all and know all who have put them up, and as promised they will be protected from anything we do going forward, though we don't only protect those putting up tags, we see the people spreading the word and these people too will be protected... thank you [Redacted Name] Q: Tell me about that list of names. Why list them and what are the plans for the names on the list? A: Many of the names on the list are government employees, we started by sharing a tiny list of these to simply show that this isn't just us collecting names of random people we meet out on the streets, it is very real and much bigger than anyone knows, the more people continue to be ignorant the more that will happen until people wake up. Here are some phone numbers that have had their phones and data breached, merely not even 1/4 of the ones we've obtained thus far. [Redacted list of 45 numbers, excluding repeated numbers] Q: What is the ideal 'end goal' of Rabbitx? To turn "you are not safe" into "you are safe". Los Santos Insider will continue to monitor developments with Rabbitx and interview individuals involved in both sides of the investigation.
