Soraya
Simple topic. I've seen quite a few comments recently talking about a lot of similar faction concepts existing or being repeated. So what are your ideas or concepts for unique factions and/or groups you'd like to try or see someone try in the current landscape of GTAW? Can be illegal / legal / anywhere in-between, faction or just a group of people to run with the idea. Who knows, maybe someone will be inspired and run with it during the discussion. ย Annndddd go ๐ Edited July 9, 2024 by LatencyLord Link to comment
mj2002
A group for (right wing) conspiracists, flat earthers, first amendment auditors, Qanon followers, anti-institutionalists, etc. The key for this would be that they'd remain exclusively non-violent in their interactions with others in a public setting, to avoid it escalating into a huge mess really quickly. No domestic terrorism, no militia, some protests at most. I think this would be amusing to portray. Edited July 9, 2024 by mj2002 6 Link to comment

Allerion
Re-posting this from another post I made. ย "This. I think what needs to be done is someone really, really, really investing into the RP scene. And I'm not talking your local sports racers with riced cars. I'm talking someone that's heavy for passive RP and follows the server rules, cares about the community and the people they surround themselves with. I ran this on a samp server and it was probably one of the best times I've ever had in RP, but it takes a lot of work to start off a group because you need a set of members with right mindset, that aren't rulebreakers, are active, willing to start off as a small group and so on, if you have a leader with good leadership that... "micromanages" the group, it works well.ย ย I know some people hate the word "micromanage" but if you're trying to RP a racing group, it needs to be micromanaged, I'm sorry. This concept CAN be done very well, if you manage to group up serious roleplayers to hang around a garage, RP tuning your cars, host races for money/betting and generally uphold the RP to a good extent, kick any bad apples. If you can set up rules that people actually drive normal outside of the hosted races and don't speed/drift/go wild for no reason, it is actually good roleplay.ย ย There's so much RP to do around, from robbing trucks on the roads (which with proper group scenario and history I guarantee you admins would approve it should it be RP'd correct), to taking up a gas station and stealing fuel, hosting car meets and running best tuning/looks competition, hosting underground drag races and collect taxes, own and work at a garage to get that "legal" money, scrapping cars and collecting metal and so much more. Not everything relies on guns and drugs, people just need to use their imagination. There's IC money to be made, amazing roleplay and so on. As long as you have strong leadership and kick out the trolls that are there just to speed for no fucking reason, the concept can be done. ย Problem is entire JDM/car scene is looked down and frowned upon and until a serious group with strong mindset and micromanagement on their members begin, I don't see that scene getting any better whatsoever." ย ย TL:DR a proper high-end illegal sports car faction with serious micromanagement and rules set in place with dedicated leaders running it. Not the type of faction that would ruin other players RP experience 7 Link to comment

arman
Would love to see some more "new age" stuff as well as things like anarcho-primitivist hippies, CHAZ-types, Black power groups, organized labor groups, and tech startups. ย Recently I've been very intrigued byย Treadstone Corporationย and the incredibly unique concept behind it. I would strongly recommend anyone with a penchant for writing and passive roleplay to keep an eye on these folks. 3 Link to comment

Not the type of faction that would ruin other players RP experience ย It'd be interesting to hear the experiences from players that have attempted this before, and learn from them in order to avoid pitfalls presented themselves before. There's more than enough players who vaguely involve themselves in this sort of roleplay. Once there's a group or two that set the standard, its much easier to shut down low quality roleplay from those that aren't part of those groups. 1 Link to comment

Pitfall: strong passive RP based on meticulously RPing concepts is something that people like the idea of, but they don't actually want to do. They like that it exists, but if expected to do it the majority of people get annoyed. The moment the leader running 99% of the systems goes even slightly down in activity, the entire group will disappear. Getting people to actually RP in-depth around their concept is like herding cats, 364 days of the year. Itยดs hard to get people in heavily themed RP (racers, gangs, hell even LEO) to just RP for the sake of RP without accomplishing script objectives. 2 Link to comment
