Davis LTD Shooting Leaves Multiple Dead

On June 19th 2024, deputies recieved reports of an active shooting taking place at the Davis LTD, a well known hot-spot of violence and no stranger to tragedy. LSI Stringers attended the scene to find a single responding unit, with no controlled perimeter and multiple, unidentified victims. Quickly evident was the scale of the shooting, with at least two fatalities and shells littering the gas stations exterior.

It became quickly apparent that there was at least one witness to the attack, a female spotted taking cover down the side of the LTD whilst a deputy attempted to check a victim for signs of life. The witness was soon cleared to leave the scene, and she was willing to speak with us with her account of the incident.

 

Noting that she was conducting a routine delivery run to the store when she spotted a group of men exiting the property down the alleyway she soon found herself in. Shortly thereafter whilst she continued with her work, she heard an intense exchange of gunfire and was present as other witnesses quickly fled the scene for safety. She reported the two victims in front of the gas station and the third tucked into the alley.

 

The assailant was said to have fled the scene in a black sedan, and wore a mask to conceal his identity. Unfortunately, no other details could be shared with us.

Deputies radio'ed in for backup, and eventually a second unit arrived on scene to assist with investigation and perimeter control. A third unit, in an unmarked Sandstorm, also arrived but did not remain long at the scene.

 

Deputy Wade took a few moments to talk with our stringer to provide insight into the situation. Unfortunately, outside of what was recounted by the witness, there was little extra that could be clarified. The lead investigator on scene was unavailable for comment.

 

However, Deputy Wade explained that the lack of CCTV at the LTD complicated the identification of the assailant, as well as a clear explanation of what occured. He was unable to clarify if the deceased were armed at the time of the shooting, despite witness claims that the gunfire exchange was intense.

 

The lack of surveillance in the store raises concerns, considering the location has been a hotspot of activity for some time.
