Offline texting expanded

Detailed Description

The current discord texting bot is great, however, still flawed in two or more ways.

• You can not send a text to anyone you wish, they must text you first. 

• If someone texts you, then goes offline before you reply, the bot will say it sent, but the recipient will not get the text.

 

My suggestion? Expand on the bot, or create an official website that players can use while not physically on the server. 

 

If any of you know if other issues with the bot, and possibly have ideas to expand on it or fix these issues, feel free to leave a comment.

 

Now let me address the inevitable comments about LS Chat. Yes, I am aware it exists, and it has its own flaws 

1. Some characters don't want to have a social media presence 

2. It's not actually fully integrated into the server the way SMS is.

3. Kind of hard to continue a text conversation on a completely seperate messaging software, the switch wouldn't make much sense 

4. There's a large number of people on the server that won't use LS chat.

One additional thing I can say, your character does not cease to exist when you go offline, and for people like me who work 10+ hours a day, we can't exactly say "I was sleeping." Makes no sense icly.

I view LSChat as kind of a WhatsApp, separate from a “social media” presence. That would be FaceBrowser messaging. 
 

I’m of the opinion that LSChat perfectly works as a solution for what you’re trying to fix. If people don’t want to use what’s already available to them, that’s on them. 
 

With that said, I wouldn’t hate a more accessible texting option for offline situations, but personally that’s what I use FB for.

I personally view it as more of a discord clone honestly. But even if it was more of a WhatsApp, ill still circle around to point 3.

Offline sms is already available to people, the issue is that it could use more functionality. We shouldn't be oocly forced to use /another/ app which again, point 2, is not actually properly integrated into the server as smoothly as SMS is.

I think LS Chat was a way around,being able to "text" offline. 
The phone is an IG feature so offering it when both people are away could cause issue in trying to get that to work.

Almost no one uses LSChat. 
If someone doesn't use Facebrowser for example, they definetely don't use LSChat, which is the same thing but with a different name basically

What if they make LSchat an SMS app? And the Ingame messaging app on our phones can be called LSChat. All chat histories will be on the app and players can send offline messages from there and etc.

Its not the same thing, Ls chat is a messaging website only. "Almost no one uses" is also not true according to the live statistics 🙃

Making another site just for SMS is gonna cause alot of database interaction to login, then choose the character, then choose the phone. Then when a sms is sent check if receiver is online or not, otherwise...? Discord bot should be expanded at best, we have alot of tools and sites already to make your character offline "alive".
