SAPR does patrol the "unincorporated areas" of LS County which is normally a highway patrol/state police thing so I see that point.

However, reaper is right. Traffic crime is a huge thing here. It breaks the immersion in GTAW significantly. Everyone loses their shit when someone pulls a gun on someone beating them to death (unrealistic escalation meeeeh!!!!) but they shut their eyes to someone doing 120 down Legion Square to get to the night club.

My vision for highway patrol was always that it'd be a narrowly tailored traffic enforcement department. That way, it wouldn't take away from SAPR/LSPD/LSSD's jurisdictions and besides, the way things are set up now, PD and SD's traffic units are simply not that capable at dealing with traffic criminals all the time when there’s always hot calls blaring over the radio. We do our best, yes, but having something that directly addresses traffic crime—one of the biggest immersion breakers in this community—would deal with it so much more effectively.

Just to focus on the 120 down Legion Square, from a personal perspective we try our best to combat this as my character is a traffic cop. The issue is when they drive by sometimes when we're able to turn around they're log gone because they already got that momentum and already disappeared into thin air.  But trust me we do as much as we can, but it's for others to play they part and not treat every street like a highway.

That doesn't sound like a solution!

to? this topic isn't about a solution to the gta online driving problem we have. it's a discussion about whether or not gta world should have a highway patrol faction. and i say no (feel free to look at what i previously said)

State Parks leadership sliding by real quick,

There's a lot of misconceptions and our name being thrown around here, so I'll just say what's true and what isn't.

1) We DO NOT patrol or run radar on the highways! We do not encourage nor want anyone patrolling them. If you see a State Parks Peace Officer running radar on a highway (or anywhere outside of State Parks) feel free to message me with appropriate evidence as that isn't allowed and is not our focus.

2) Our faction does not want to become SAHP, nor do we try to copy it. There's been attempts in the past by previous leaderships but this is not the case as of now. We chilling.

Overall if anyone has an issue with a State Parks peace officer not portraying the concept appropriately, OR have questions about what we do just shoot me a message, always glad to answer inquiries or alike.

Make Highway Patrol.

Give their jurisdiction as all highways of the state + some main arterials around East Santos and highways that spread through the city itself.

Give them fast cars and unmarked fast cars.I dont know, give them buffed up STX's, why not? Why? Well because every other pursuit nowadays is either - STX, Hellcats, Sultans or Sentinels.

Enforce traffic primarily, can also aid LSSD/LSPD on Mutual Aid situations like 100+mph pursuits and stuff.

I'd love to see roadblocking. I don't remember clearly but I think LSRP did roadblocking on highways with spike strips.

No one would suffer from some extra RP and variety.

It doesn't have to be a fully fledged giant-massive monster of an agency with hundreds of people.

Let's say get in some 50-100 members over time so enough timezones are covered and you're golden.

No issues. While it can be done right now in both LSSD/LSPD I can understand that many people might not want to be in those departments because it's not just traffic you enforce, it's the whole San Andreas Penal code basically.

While HP could focus mostly on vehicular crimes and call in PD/SD whenever needed to take more dangerous individuals in.

I mean, a lot of times suspects escape out the city with their pimped-out super cars because it's easy to win with a fast car.

Wouldn't hurt to have some 5-10 unmarked HP units scouting the area and being ready to engage wherever they have visual.

Have to remember mostly once a suspect evades, everyone clears, a crime broadcast is sent out and that's it.

While HP could take it as their primary goal to try and locate the car while SD/PD goes and handles different calls.

You have to remember that PD/SD cannot go around for 40min searching for a suspect. We respond to everything. And sometimes a city wide TAC is called and that's when something like an evasion suspect is not a priority. While they still are felons, living their golden life with their over-tuned Sultans and what not people use nowadays.

I mean, that's how I imagine it go. Why not? I literally can't see much downsides to it.

It's variety, it's something new, it's something that people have been wanting.

Highly unnecessary faction proposal, the highways don't even need to be patrolled. There's so little traffic on the highways you'd have to be a woma- troll to actually cause an accident or hit someone else on the road if you even see another driver on the road at all. I'd actually be in favor of going the German route when it comes to our freeways like their autobahns, completely remove the arbitrary speed limit that has little to no impact on anything happening on empty freeways.

What we need is both much harsher punishments for traffic offenses within city boundaries along with harsher enforcement to discourage people driving like assholes within the city where you can ACTUALLY legitimately cause traffic accidents and impact other peoples roleplay negatively.

Should've stopped making factions after LSSD.

Spoiler

The server isn't big or active enough for more. The SASP-LSSD beef has a lot to do with the fact that there's only so many calls in the area to go around, and when two factions are trying to be first due to handle an incident we either get over-responding which looks and feels shit, or we have a situation where one half don't get to do anything or just drive off, because the other faction has everything covered.

When you have two factions that don't have the same policies, standards, or channels of communication, sharing the same area, you're bound for a frustrating ass situation. A faction where the guys aren't on our radios, they aren't on our forums, we don't share information, and even if we tried to I don't think we could with the reality of the game and activity being what it is. This is the situation NOW. SAHP would compound this and make this WORSE.

Also I can already foresee people interpreting the real-life authority of the CHP too freely and translating it to taking over pursuits in the server or telling other departments' units to clear off of a scene.

imo current leo factions struggle as is even though they are currently housing half the server. another one being highway patrol isnt rly needed. i would rather see that extra effort put into our current ones rather than making another and pretending it's gonna be fine.

I like the CHP aesthetics, they would look cool. However, we already have a ton of LEO factions. If this ever does become a thing, it should only represent a single station. The highest rank should be a Captain, they shouldn't have a full executive staff or multiple divisions, and it should be kept fairly small in comparison to PD/SD.
