It’s that time again, keep it civil please.

For a long time, years even, this community has constantly consolidated around asking for a state police agency (no disrespect intended to SASP/SADCR/SANFIRE) with the capability to aggressively crack down upon one of the biggest issues that plague the server and have for a long time: traffic enforcement.

With the most recent updates on the server supporting VIN numbers on vehicles and license plate theft, as well as stricter laws being introduced by the legislature to condemn street racing and poor driving habits, an opportunity presents itself for de facto agency to step into the spotlight finally in a limited capacity, at least to begin with and that is the San Andreas Highway Patrol.

SAHP for a lot of us is a pipedream; it’s aesthetically defined from the current slew of agencies (navy, tan/green) with their tan/tan uniforms and black fleet with a legendary reputation in the law enforcement community, the culture surrounding the SAHP is extremely unique and not one you’ll find in either of the agencies we currently have now as well and we must remember that the chief goal at the end of the day is to portray and explore concepts we may not otherwise be able to, and the state trooper experience is one of those that is in high demand yet sordidly lacking here of all places.

Other GTAW communities likewise have it within their purview and manage to maintain it alongside their much smaller playerbases in conjunction with the other agencies they have and with us being a server that regularly tallies over 900 players on average per night during the peak hours surely wouldn’t shift the meta dramatically to allow people to explore a concept they’ve desperately wanted to.

I believe SAHP would be a fantastic addition to the law enforcement community and complete the trifecta of what we have now, as well as providing a more comprehensive solution in-character to aggressively targeting traffic infractions, patrolling the highway system, acting as a force multiplier in pursuits and investigating car theft rings. They could also have the added ability to provide protection and security to state government officials and state buildings as they do presently IRL. And yes I know H platoon exists but the actual executive protection of the capitol and state officials is left to CHP in the real world.

Thoughts?

Too long didn’t read

With the one highway and a half we have it’s really not worth it having ANOTHER LEO agency to focus on highway patrol only.

When GTA VI comes along yeah sure but rn i dont see the need for it

I always mention the state patrol, but they don't exist. It would be interesting to see them sometimes, as long as the server knows how to use them.

I dunno about california (san andreas), but in my state, State Patrol are actually the most trained law enforcement. Their academy is 50% longer, and their cars are packed with everything from gieger counters to trauma kits.

They are very spread out, each car acts a repeater to broad cast signals to each other, and backup could be 20-30m away if something goes wrong. Sure they do a lot of traffic enforcement, but they also work directly for the governor sometimes as body guards, and can backup county and city police as well.

It would be a very small department though, given the server's size.

Most of the map is highways and there’s no shortage of traffic infractions, misdemeanors and felonies being committed daily. Pursuits are an hourly affair, sometimes multiple at a time.

With the LSSD for example we follow very closely to the metrics of the fleet IRL which means a lot of our basic radio cars struggle in pursuits especially against street racers and not quite being geared to those kinds of things.

in short, I feel SAHP would be a unique flavor and a force multiplier to local agencies when it comes to tackling vehicle related crimes and enforcement.

been discussed so many times now, been rejected every single time.

even the sister communities (the other gta:w communities) are starting to move away from them cause it didn't work out that well.

there's no need for it.

I mean SADCR was in this same position for quite a while and that’s now a reality. In the case of our sister communities I don’t believe they have the ecosystem and numbers we do to support it, you know as well as I do that at peak hours both local agencies find themselves stretched thin.

Sheriff's Department has a very well functioning traffic detail, which you yourself are part of as far as I recall. Hold special operations on highway if you want to make an impact. Park Rangers can and already do enforce traffic on highways too. We don't need another agency, which won't even tackle the issue. Stop suggesting nonsense over and over again. -1

I’m not speaking poorly on any department’s traffic detail or efforts but merely enjoy the aesthetic the agency presents as well as the culture surrounding it. Surely you could understand that it’s entirely just a preference thing

You can already choose from 2 agencies, which can enforce exactly what you're suggesting. Why do you need a third?
