Cudn
From Morningwood to Pillbox: How Bellicose MMA's Charity Marathon is Changing Lives. Written by Tamara Kedrova Photography by Tamara Kedrova- 26th April 2024 (Pictured Above: Samuel, Vice President Kaden Malik, Doctor Evelyn Bleichroder, Ivanna) As water stations and checkpoints popped up across the marathon route this past Sunday, a wide range of people from across the city prepared to take part in a run spanning from the Muscle Gym in Vinewood, to the Del Perro pier. The event, hosted by Bellicose MMA with the aid of the community of Morningwood, namely Ivanna, and Samuel, raised in excess of one million dollars for the Pillbox Medical Center - bringing much needed funding for a vital service that Los Santos could not do without. Ivanna, a businesswoman and apparent budding philanthropist from Morningwood took to the stage first, giving a short speech in which she thanked those who gave generous donations, as well as those who gave their time to make such an event not only possible, but incredibly successful. (Pictured Above: Ivanna) Ivanna: Our initial goal for this marathon was three hundred thousand. We're proud to announce we've quadrupled our goal, and are drawing the event to a close with one-point-one million in hand for Pillbox Medical. It couldn't have been possible without some of our amazing sponsors. Lucien Berjouhie, whose initial kind donation of three hundred thousand propelled us straight to our own finish line. Seconded by the exceedingly generous four hundred thousand donation from Vom Moda. For anyone who doesn't know, they're a haute couture fashion brand originating in our very own Rockford Hills. Huge thanks to the company's creative director. I could be here all day, so a special shoutout to /all/ our donors. Many hands make light work - Sugar Gentleman's Club, HungerHub, Los Santos Customs, Johnny Bags and 1UP Game Bar. I want to directly thank LSPD, LSSD, the fireguards and lifeguards who came out and enabled us to have a safe, secure event. In particular, our express thanks to Chief Lifeguard Rico and Lietenant Webb, who helped us diligently above and beyond from start to finish. We couldn't have done it without them. Ivanna then passed the microphone to the hospital’s president, Doctor Bleichroder, who accepted the donation on behalf of Pillbox. She explained that thanks to the generosity of Los Santos’ citizens, and a much needed cash injection will help to expand and strengthen such a crucial service which continues to serve the city. (Pictured Above: Doctor Evelyn Bleichroder) Doctor Bleichroder: Dear everyone. Participants, colleagues and all the people, agencies and institutions that are here today and allowed this event to be possible. A heartfelt gratitude towards the hosts, Bellicose and the Morningwood community, one of our dear partners who we've been working with for some time now. And a huge thanks to all the contributors, to all of you, each one of you who have generously contributed your time today. As well as your energies and your money for a good cause, proving you're all kind-hearted people with /this/ cause dear to your hearts. Your participation in this marathon not only demonstrates the commitment to promoting health and supporting our wonderful hospital but also that you care about our community and you want to see things to keep working in the healthcare field. So, whether you donated or not, your presence here is welcomed and appreciated deeply. I was genuinely speechless when the hosts told me about the amount of the donation, I didn't think it was possible to reach this much for the hospital.. It's genuinely the first time and both me and my Vice President, Kaden Malik, were very surprised and we both know that this is going to have a huge /positive/ impact on all the projects that we're working on. This amount comes handy especially at this moment as we are expanding our departments at the hospital, allowing us to guarantee you even more services in the future. This will allow us to build them and allocate these resources in a strategic way, specifically to state of the art medical equipment, new types of diagnosis and treatments and possibly to fund new assistance programs as well as new vehicles. There are many projects that you will see and we are very happy to consider you a part of it, in your little or big gesture that is. In conclusion, once again, my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you for unwavering dedication and commitment to our hospital's mission. Let us continue to unite in our efforts and create a healthier and compassionate Los Santos. (Pictured Above: Rhys Young, Leonid Tukhachevsky and Marathon Winner Natalia Tukhachevskaya) Following the success of the marathon fundraiser for Pillbox, the community in Morningwood are in the process of forming a community center. This will build on the apparent spirit prevalent in the area, a place which is keen to create a space for everyone especially those in need. The organisation of events, fundraisers and a variety of other activities will be hosted to enrich the diversity and culture of Morningwood and continue to create opportunities and share traditions in this unique part of the city, which is nestled beneath the wealth of Rockford Hills but is often overlooked.
