  1. Alta, Hawick. Most households are identified as 'middle-class.' The area that over the years has seen a series of ups and downs. From Skinheads terrorizing the residents to Eurasian organized crime going on in the shadows. Alta, which is often identified as a relatively wealthy area to live in. There's a collective of clubs, pubs & stores--It's a neighborhood with a lot to offer, but it's not a perfect one. Most parents in the neighborhood work full time and don't have the time to raise their children properly. Most of the youth spend their days bragging about how life is 'hard' for them. Most of the residents turn a blind eye to the youth when their parents aren't in the picture. The street is a wild place to be, in which it hugs and embraces the latchkey kids--Evidently, bring them into the "life." It's fueled by the greed and the jealousy that has grown inside of these children's hearts, seeing wealthier families and wealthier peers-- Meanwhile, some kids have grown up eating the best food, always inside living a luxury life. Some hardworking kids didn't succeed at school and eventually dropped out to gain more money from side jobs. But side jobs weren't enough. Side jobs were just a legal front to what they really do. As you could expect, nobody is willing to sit behind a counter for their whole life. As the youth grow up, their greed, jealousy tends to grow with them. This often leads to opening more doors to make money and get attention. It can be as simple as starting with a cigarette, then a blunt, then experimenting with more. As most youth grow up they tend to involve themselves within criminal activities such as petty drug dealing, car break-ins, low level street robberies and assault. Most youth involved in the 'lifestyle' usually don't live over 25, often dying younger.
