Behind The Badge It all started, on October, 6th, 1999. Jason Lockhart Sr. and Jessica Macklroy introduced their newborn baby Jason Lockhart. Their friends Erik and Jane Kingston are waiting in the hospital lobby to meet their newborn godson and to introduce their newborn son Carter to Jason. Jason Lockhart from a young age was extremely calculated and very well-spoken. He was always pleasant to be around. Growing up on the east side of Orlando, Jason was somewhat of a trust fund kid and spoiled, his parents raised him in a big house in a community called Avalon Park. He lived right next to the person who had the biggest impact on his life, Carter Kingston. Jason and Carter were like two peas in a pod, almost twins. They played youth sports together and were just the ultimate duo. Throughout, Jason’s youthful years he got straight A’s throughout elementary school and middle school. Up until his freshman year of high school Jason and Carter were inseparable but Jason got moved to AP classes which meant they wouldn’t have the same schedule anymore. However, this didn’t mean anything cause Jason and Carter were a dynamic duo, they could adapt to any situation. They both were extremely talented in sports specifically in basketball and football so they both tried out each season and made the freshmen team. The duo was finally reunited. Throughout high school, both Jason and Carter went on to be moved up to the varsity team in both sports during their sophomore year and starting. Fast forward to senior year, the duo once again had another problem… What were they going to do after high school? Carter didn’t want to go to college and Jason’s parents were making him go. They didn’t want to be split up, So Jason and Carter came up with a plan. They’d both get jobs Jason’s be part-time and they’d move in together while Jason was going to college at the University of Central Florida, Carter would be going to work every day. The plan unfolded just like the plan Jason ended up graduating with a bachelor's in Business administration. Now it was time for him to go into the career field he’d always wanted law enforcement. You see the thing is Jason and Carter were so like-minded they always loved the same thing as kids when they had sleepovers and their parents were asleep the duo would watch shows like “Southland”, “Cops”, and “The First 48”. Jason and Carson both put their applications to the Orlando Police Department. A year later after a lot of interviews and a stressful academy they became the Orlando Police Department's newest rookie officers and hit the street. Although they both worked together and made it out of field training things took a turn for the next two to three years Jason was being promoted due to his college degree whilst Carter just stayed at the lonely rank of PO2 (Police Officer II) eventually Jason become a supervisor once he was selected to be a corporal for the same division Carter was working in at the time. They instantly cliqued and became the duo of Orlando. Carter was frustrated and he told Jason that he couldn’t take not being promoted anymore and that he just wanted to start over in a new city a city where the cops have movies and TV shows. This city was Los Santos, so Jason and Carter both agreed they’d resign from Orlando’s Police Department and move to Los Santos. They instantly put in their two-month notice of resignation found an apartment out in Los Santos and bought it. However, things took a dramatic turn, that Jason would never forget. After finishing up a call, Jason and Carter went into an alleyway and parked up to do some paperwork. That was until a call for service came through, of a Mentally Ill person threatening to harm themselves. After being told by a dispatcher that there were no weapons involved. Jason and Carter both approached the house Carter had been to the residence previously and so he took point and knocked on the door. After knocking on the door, a barrage of bullets flies through it, striking Carter knocking him over, and also striking Jason back as well. Jason wasted no time after being knocked down by the bullets that struck him in his shoulder and vest he unholstered his gun a fired back. The suspect stops firing briefly, and so does Jason assuming the threat has stopped. The suspect rushed out of the house attempting to finish off Jason, however, Jason had other plans he unloaded his magazine into the suspect leaving him lifeless. Jason rushes over to Carter who’s screaming in agony after being shot dozens of times he bleeds out right there on the scene. Jason knew after this, he had to do everything right in life… Do it right for Carter. After the department investigation was completed Jason, hopped on the next flight to Los Santos Now the real Journey Begins...

I It’s late. The kind of late that blurs the lines between night and the cruel joke of an early morning. I'm sitting here in the half-light, nursing a glass of bourbon that’s more habit than pleasure these days. The room is quiet, but it's a goddamn lie. Inside, it’s loud as hell—my thoughts, my memories, they don’t let up. Aging, it’s a bitch. Not just the creaks and aches, the way your body betrays you, growing frail and stubborn. It’s the mind games, the replay of every face, every job that I’ve erased from the world. Joined the army young, thought I was tough as nails. But the shit I saw... it hollows you out, leaves you a shell, walking and talking, but always on the edge of breaking. Retirement? Hell, who am I kidding? You don’t just walk away from this life. It clings to you, like the blood stains that never really wash out. My hands shake now, not much, but enough to remind me that I’m not what I once was. They used to be steady, reliable. Now they’re traitors, trembling with the ghosts of too many years. Linda, she’s seen it all. She’s got this look, you know? Like she’s waiting for the storm to pass, but we both know, some storms, they don’t move on. They settle in, make a home in your bones. And Michael, my boy, he’s the one damn thing I did right. Kept him clear of all the shit. He doesn’t know the man I really am, and I’ll die before I let that change. Sometimes, when it’s this late, I think about hanging it all up. What’s left for a washed-up old soldier who’s seen too much? But who am I if not this? The cleaner, the fixer—shit, it’s all I know. It’s like being caught in a riptide, constantly fighting to keep your head above water when it’d be so easy to just let go. They say time heals all, but whoever said that didn’t have my fucking memories. Some wounds, they don’t close; they fester, they itch, they drive you mad. And I’ve got an arsenal of them, each one a reminder of the lives I've crossed out, the secrets I've buried deep. Maybe I’m looking for redemption, or maybe it’s forgiveness I want. But from who? The people I’ve saved? Or the ones I couldn’t? Every day, the line I walk gets a little blurrier. But as long as I’m breathing, as long as I can still hold a gun, I know I won’t stop. Not really. So here’s to the twilight years, to finding some goddamn peace, or at least a quiet corner of hell to call my own. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to look myself in the mirror and not see the ghosts staring back. Maybe then I’ll believe it’s enough. Until then, I keep moving, one slow, painful step at a time...

"Yeah, my old man used to have one of those..." "...Black as sin, with those white pinstripes cutting through the darkness like scars. You could practically feel the weight of his presence every time he revved that engine." "But you know what? That car might be the last piece of him I've got left." "Maybe one day I'll meet the same fate he did, wrapped around some godforsaken lamppost with nothing but a cloud of smoke and a legacy of regret to mark my passing...." This thread is about the story of a man, shrouded in darkness, racing against fate as he traverses through the lands of Los Santos.
