  1. Ever since the "How to install mods on RAGEMP" guide by Killerbite was posted, I've been experimenting with the implementation of different types of mods for people to use with GTA World. I've been mainly focusing on replacing vehicle models with more desired vehicles made by other modders for the LSFD faction, and using my skills as a 2D artist to make custom textures for them. The LSFD Vehicle Pack that I'm currently working on will remain a WIP project, and I'm also working on WIP uniform mods for the LSFD as well. Today however, I'd like to share a siren mod I first made. Using sound files taken directly from Federal Signal's website, I have made this mod for a more immersive experience for those in the FD and PD factions. However I welcome and encourage everyone to download and use this mod! VIDEO DEMO DISCLAIMER - I usually upload the first .rpf file that contains the mod due to ease of installation, meaning the .rpf files have already been pre-patched/encrypted so you do not need to use ArchiveFix. - Check that you're not using a mod that this one replaces files with. If this is the case, use the Custom Installation method. - Make sure you've made a BACKUP of the .rpf file(s) you're going to be replacing! DOWNLOAD CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD HOW TO INSTALL First, make sure you have downloaded and extracted file above. You may also need OpenIV and ArchiveFix for the installation, which you can download from HERE. Easy Installation - Using OpenIV OR Windows Explorer, navigate to the following location within the GTA V directory (Grand Theft Auto V\x64\audio\sfx). - Simply drag and drop the pre-patched/encrypted RESIDENT.rpf file from the "Easy Installation" folder inside the sfx folder to replace the old file with the new one and you're done. Custom Installation - Using OpenIV, navigate to the following location within the GTA V directory (Grand Theft Auto V\x64\audio\sfx\RESIDENT.rpf). - Right-click "vehicles.awc" and click "Export to openFormats (.oac)". - Create a new folder to export the files to and navigate to it after the files have done exporting. - There should be 1 file and 1 folder, "vehicles" and "vehicles.oac". - Open a new window and navigate to where you've extracted the mod. - From the "Custom Installation" folder drag and drop the .wav files into the "vehicles" folder you exported from OpenIV. It will ask you to replace the files, click "Yes". - Next drag and drop the "vehicles.oac" file back into OpenIV. This will import the new files in. - Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the following location within the GTA V directory (Grand Theft Auto V\x64\audio\sfx\). - In a new window, navigate to where you have ArchiveFix extracted. - Drag the RESIDENT.rpf file onto the ArchiveFix.exe file. A command prompt will open and patch/encrypt the RESIDENT.rpf file. Press any key when it's done. - That's it installed. I'd like to thank Firesky for the encryption method: https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/profile/792-firesky/
  2. Short description: Add functionality that would support changing the audible siren at any time, as well as the pattern used by the lights on the car. Detailed description: Currently, when you enable the siren/lights on a police car, there is only one light pattern for each car and it will not change. if you attempt to hold the HORN button to switch to a different siren, it does not sync to other players. I am suggesting the addition of a script that will allow a full range of control over these elements. Commands to add: None. This system would work with the use of keybinds. Items to add: A 3rd party script or a script developed from scratch by GTA World devs. How would your suggestion improve the server?: Honestly, for anyone who isn't involved with law enforcement roleplay, this won't make much of a difference. In general though, it will make the experience more immersive for people involved in any roleplay with the police. Police lights could be used for traffic indicators. Different siren modes could be used to clear intersections, Et cetera. It's just a quality of life update. Additional information: I have a script I found online to share, at the very least for reference. I have not tested it though so I can be sure that it works. But this is exactly what I am suggesting. https://github.com/dArkyunn/-RageMP-More-Immersive-Emergency-Lights
  3. A system for emergency vehicle siren and lighting in GTA World. This suggestion is inspired by the Emergency Lighting System (ELS) mod for GTA V. Everything I've mentioned below can be found in this video, as well as more things! The difference here how-ever is I am suggesting this as a server script, as oppose to a mod. Description: A system of keybinds to use while responding to emergencies in an emergency vehicle, as if you were using a control panel in real life, enabling you to change between different siren tones and lighting options. Below is shown the typical control panel of an emergency warning system. This would work if you were using a vanilla emergency vehicle, e.g. police4 or firetruck. But it'd also work if you've enabled a vehicle to have siren and lights if you type /siren, e.g. a brickade. Keybinds: To turn the system on you'd press E, but a script could automatically have the siren disabled, so that only the emergency lights come on. To turn on the wail, you'd press 1. To turn on the yelp, you'd press 2. To turn on the phaser, you'd press 3. To turn on the manual, you'd press 4. But this keybind (unlike the others) must be held down in order to keep the siren on. So if you lightly tap it, it will make short sharp sounds. If you hold it, the tone will play out the full length. To turn on the horn, you'd press X. Where would the developers find the sounds? Wail, yelp and phaser are already in the game. When you turn the siren on, it automatically comes on with wail. When you press and hold E, it also puts yelp or phaser on. For the horn, this would be the car's default horn sound. For police vehicles this is a proper electronic horn, for fire trucks it's an air horn and for ambulances it's a normal car horn. An alternative could be to have siren sound effects. There are hundreds of these on the internet, including for GTA mods. What about GTA vanilla emergency vehicles with different siren files? Perhaps for vanilla vehicles, the wail, yelp and phaser is different depending on the emergency vehicle. For example, the firetruck's siren is different to police4's siren, which is also different to fbi2's sirens. Or it could be just one siren for all emergency vehicles, it doesn't matter that match. What happens if I press multiple keybinds? If you press a different key, the audio will switch to that sound. For example if you press 1 for the wail, and then press 2, it will switch to yelp. The exception to this is if you press the horn, it will sound at the same time as the siren. If you press the manual while all the other sirens are off, it will manually sound the wail. But if you press it while a siren is on (E.g. wail), it'd default to the next tone. For example if wail is activated, and I press and hold 5, it'd activate yelp until I let go. If yelp is activated, it'd go to phraser. If phraser is activated, it'd go back to wail. How would I turn the siren off? You'd press the button of the tone that's currently sounding. For example if wail is sounding because you tapped 1, you'd tap 1 to turn it off again. Their could also be a default button to turn off all sirens, and that could be say 0. If you tap E, the entire system will turn off. How would this improve the server? It would allow us to change siren tones to suit the situation. For non urgent and code 2 emergencies, you can simply tap the manual siren where appropriate. For open areas and underpopulated areas you could stick to one siren tone or turn it off In densely populated areas or where there's heavy traffic, you can vary the different siren tones to add urgency to your response and thus warn civilians If the siren tones are becoming annoying, you can stick to one tone you like or turn it off Additionally it would also allow us to have only lights on, and not sirens. Currently this is possible by pressing X but only work for vanilla emergency vehicles (Except the Lifeguard SUV) Furthermore it would increase the immersion of roleplay for first responders and for passing-civilians, adding that 'busy' city feel Also it would stop us having to hold E for different siren tones while trying to drive (holding too many keys at once disables the driving, causing collisions) Of course it would allow us to have different siren tones with /siren, rather than being stuck on one tone most of the time And finally, it'd allow us to blast our horns for when people get in our way (despite the playerbase, this does happen quite a lot!) or for passing through intersections How-ever despite the points above, I wouldn't say this would have an overall affect on improving the server, but would rather help us feel the realism in the server. The future? In the future a control panel GUI could be added, to give you greater control and a visual display of the system The GUI could even feature options to place lighting around your non-emergency vehicle, as oppose to the default system in the /siren script Additionally it could allow different lighting options to be selected. E.g. only one light flashing, or all the lights flashing, different flash patterns, and amber light traffic advisers When 0.4 comes out, we could utilise the ELS mod. (How-ever the ELS mod is quite intensive on the game, it also requires modded vehicles. So I'm not sure this is viable) Additional information: I've been using @Maple's pretty awesome /siren script while responding in emergency vehicles in GTA World (that aren't emergency vehicles in the vanilla game) which lead me to think of this idea! I understand the /siren script is still very much a Work In Progress (WIP) and I'm sure things like the siren tones and the placing of lighting will be worked on in the future, but after the positive feedback I received from @-Andreas about my suggestions, I thought I'd add some of my ideas in the hope it will help Maple and other developers. ? And yes, I am a bit obsessed with emergency vehicle siren and lights.
