Criminals don't have to roleplay forging or stealing a credit card or a driver's license before claiming they did when they rented a vehicle, leaving a void in their roleplay, which then becomes powergaming when it's claimed to be done without evidence when a car is rented. The rental script needs a rewrite and cars that were rented need to be unique so they can be traced to the person that rented it. Hey there GTA World community, I was wondering, would you guys like to see a player-run rental car (possible exotic rental cars) business? I was thinking about opening one up in rockford where anyone could come and take out an exotic car for an hour (or more but it would get expensive) for a couple thousand dollars an hour, what do you guys think? Drop your opinions/extra ideas below!

Short description: Introduce a new script with the ability for companies to rent vehicles to other players, using existing scripts (obviously needing to be modified) such as /sellvehicle, the rental car system and copying keys to give someone access to your car. Detailed description: The first big point to make is that car rental companies exist all over the world. I have seen one company do this on the server in the past for high-end cars, but that was it. I'm sure it was a lot of work and a lot of trouble at the same time, having to trust players with rental length limits, players abusing that, etc. My idea is to give a player the ability to RP opening a rental car company, then apply for a script (just like a custom item script/shop script/etc.) that would allow them to rent a vehicle to a player for a specified price and time (in hours for simplicity purposes). There is already a rental script, so this could be utilized here possibly? This would give the player temporary ownership of that car that would allow them to /vget the car in the event of a crash, bug, etc. as long as they are within their rental time limit. Once the time limit has been reached, I would suggest going one of two ways to return the car: Scriptly return the car back to the rental car company (where it just expires like the current rental car system) or Give the ability for the company to charge automatic overages per hour until the car is returned to a designated spot such as a visible blue circle in the rental car parking lot. The player would just have to get out of the car within the circle and the car would be returned. This could utilize the current debt system for people that try to not pay overages, where it pulls money whether you have it or not. Sure this takes away potential legal RP from having to go to court in the event a car isn't returned, but in most situations in the real world, this isn't much of a problem. I don't see an issue here. Commands to add: For the company: /rentvehicle (Price) (# of Hours) (Overage $ per in-game hour) (Player Name) For the player: /rentvehicle (Insert ID number here) (Price) confirm Items to add: The ability to purchase a Rental Company script from the UCP market. Require players to apply for it with IC and OOC reasons to prove they have the proper backstory and assets to run such a company. I'm in favor of making this tough or being put under more scrutiny like the supplier program. Not everyone should have their own rental company on every street corner. How would your suggestion improve the server? Adds more options for people to potentially RP owning a new type of business and/or people who rent cars on a short term basis as well as people who lease cars on a long term basis (All very real world scenarios). This could also allow the developers to limit the airport rental script to new players (say within 5-10 hours of playtime) and reduce abuse of the current rental car system. This could also be expanded for mechanic/garage roleplayers who want to engage in elaborate and detailed RP such as Auto Haven. I've been to several shops IRL that give out loaner cars for a short period of time, while their car is being serviced (if it takes more than a few hours). I once drove around a really nice Lexus IS300 for a week while my Lexus was getting fixed. It was great lol. There are lots of avenues the /rentvehicle script could benefit players and businesses on this server. Additional information: N/A
