  2. Detailed Description Los Santos, being a major city, happens to have things littered around. This suggestion aims to bring something that would bring roleplay to people who RP as either homeless characters or low-income characters, even extreme cheapskate characters, or anyone that feels like it, really. In short, it's like anything that is currently on the server: Its purpose in existing is for you to interact with it if you so desire, and it along with that, brings a few benefits. It's there, but it's not going to make you rich by any means. I can already see it coming: "But Mistery, you didn't take into account that everyone is going to start dumpster/trash diving! It'd be unrealistic to see a guy drive a 200k sports car only to stop near a trash pile and loot it! Also, it's not Tarkov.." - Well, first off, it would be very environmentally conscious of them to do so - No, to address the concern a little more seriously, the idea here isn't to make people rich off of dumpster/trash diving, unless they really want to spend hours upon hours IRL in order to do so which, would be counter-productive considering there are many more lucrative and profitable ways to earn money and resources. As for the "It's not a survival game/Tarkov" comparisons I know would appear, no. It's not, having such mechanics do not have to be inherently bad, they just have to not grant too much profit. Relevant Commands/Items Here are some items to work with the above: - Any already existing item that would fit as being trash to fill in the gaps, even food items if you so desire. - Small metal scraps. - Small copper wire - Small aluminum scrap Remember that these are not going to give players the ability to craft weapons. They require a metallurgist to process those materials. Script-wise, it would work like this: - Player A goes up to dumpster/trash pile B. As they approach, a prompt shows: "You MUST roleplay looking through dumpsters/trash piles. Failure to do so may result in administrative punishment." - Player A /me's and then proceeds to interact with the dumpster/trash pile with Y, a countdown timer of 60 seconds starts. - Once those 60 seconds have passed, Player A will receive an item, that item will be at random. Rarer items appear at a lower rate, a little like the fish system weirdly enough, if you will. - Player A then decides to either keep the item for their own use, or to sell it if it is one of the rarer items like the "small metal/aluminum scrap" or "small copper wire". Alternatively, /trashitem it if they really don't see a use for any of it. - To sell those rarer items, players will have to find metallurgists as mentioned above. Metallurgist players acquiring those gives them the ability to go to the metallurgy factory to then craft these components into actually useful ones. Here's an example: - x10 Small metal scraps = 1x Metal Scrap - x15 Small copper wire = 1x Refined copper - x15 Small aluminum scrap = x1 Refined aluminum - "Filler" trash or misc items could act as buffers to prevent getting to rarer items too quickly. - Finally, a cooldown timer, say 30-60 minutes would be issued on a player once they have searched through enough dumpsters/trash piles, to prevent excessive "farming". This gives them the time to focus on other roleplay. As a result of this, to further prevent "farming", I suggest that metallurgists, in turn cannot possibly earn the item "Small metal scrap" item. (Unless you happen to want metallurgists being able to do so, in which case I'm not here to decide on either way). And, for those who swear by player interaction and not RPG elements (Which we already have to some extent), I have an idea just for you, but it would naturally require a re-work for the garbage collector job: Try to visualize that trash piles/dumpsters are clothing stores that are to be resupplied. Delivery trucks drive from business to business in order to give these stores stock. Now imagine the opposite for this idea. A trash/dumpster location has say, 100 of stock of trash that it has accumulated over time with a timer. It's full to the brim. Well, a dump truck driver could drive to that location and remove that trash pile, which will in turn make that trash pile unlootable for a period of time. Here are some commands to work in conjunction with it: /scavenge - This is do-able by pressing Y, just thought of adding this just in case. /exchangescrap - This is done at the metallurgy factory, for the metallurgist who has bought the items from the people selling them. How will it benefit the server? So, why exactly this suggestion? Again, it helps create more RP, more RP for people who decide to have characters who could use such a system, but also, especially around jobs that do not get much RP to begin with like the garbage collector or metallurgist having to result to either doing mind numbing copying/pasting of the same /mes, or straight up not roleplaying it all. This system would at the very least increase the chances of interaction between players, whilst also providing a chance* to collect something worthwhile. Besides, it will not inherently break any of the established economy as the yields would be low enough. Unless you prefer to have metallurgist players being able to have a chance to collect the "small metal scrap" item during their dumpster/trash dive. "How about scrap/metal schemes?" - Again, keep in mind that this is different than a full-on scheme. Scrap/metal schemes are explicitly there to make profit. This suggestion isn't there to act as a scheme and doesn't immediately cross into something organized or criminal. The best part is, some aspects of it can be simplified into RPG elements if the player interaction part is too much of a hassle than it's worth, therefore it's perfectly acceptable for it to exist just for the sake of it, much like the hunter job where profit isn't the aim but rather the novelty and aspect of doing it that contributes to RP. An example would be to add /sellscrap near the metallurgy factory for players to just sell some scrap in exchange for just a bit of money. I am not completely sure if this thread below still remains relevant so take the "copper/aluminum" items above with a grain of salt, if they don't exist anymore in-game. But I guess this still stands as a proof of concept in a way for the existing metal parts. Whoever reads this suggestion, thank you for taking the time to do so. I hope the suggestion was clear enough! I tried my best to balance the idea as best as I could, but as with every of my suggestions, if anyone has other ideas to put on the table to add or improve this, feel free to do so.
