  3. ULSA: Announces Initiatives, Q&A with Chancellor Dr. Charlotte Dunois Written by Scarlett Remington, April 10 2023 (pictured: ULSA Building Entrance, among many buildings on campus) The University of Los Santos San Andreas is the number one public university in the entire Country. Renowned for their extensive list of curriculums, a strong faculty team, and providing students from all areas of the country a safe, reliable, and thriving place to gain a proper education. The ULSA is led by not only the Office of the Chancellor but comprised of: Student Affairs, Human Resources, Strategic Communication, Legal Affairs, and Security, with oversight headed by Chancellor, Dr. Charlotte Dunois, who has been at the helm just over a month now. Throughout her experience she (along with her faculty) have pushed for educational reform, investing in the facility and students, and striving to maintain a safe atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Their most recent topic of interest is the implementation of their Administrative Procedure Policies System (APPs), which gives the public access University's administrative policies and procedures in line with the transparency initiatives proposed by the Office of the Chancellor - taking effect on April 15th, 2023. On top of their APPs system the Chancellor's Office has made a list of new initiatives and mission goals to provide to students, staff, and the general public to show they are committed to proving academic prosperity, community presence, transparency, and maintaining a heavy investment in the safety & security of the campus. (pictured: Document released by The Office of the Chancellor) "Academic Prosperity promises to ensure everyone has an equal and fair opportunity to study in a field they prefer. They are assured follow-up and resources throughout their education path. Upholding the promise of academic freedom and creating pathways to quicky gather funding, conduct research, and teach in an unrestricted environment" "Community Presence promises the ULSA community and citizens of Los Santos that ULSA is part of the more expansive city and state - and dedicates itself to honoring its mission statement of Education, Research, and service. ULSA continues to invest in the city, providing valuable research data for all inhabitants to use for the city's betterment..." "... One of the manners ULSA hopes to achieve this is through transparency, more commonly known as the information and resources initative. The information and resources initative provde all forms of information, such as university policy, procedures, and internal regulations, are public shared easily and conveniently for all individuals to find, read, and understand." "Safety & Security is the final initiative.. here the Chancellor promises to ensure the safety of all ULSA Community members by heavily investing in proper equipment, training, and resources for the ULSA Campus Security. With the direct advice of the Director of Security.. In addition, ULSA invests heavily in forming and maintaining positive communication bridges with various law enforcement agencies." (pictured: ULSA Security Officer Miller, posing for a photo while on duty securing the campus) Q&A WITH CHANCELLOR CHARLOTTE DUNOIS (pictured: Chancellor, Dr. Charlotte Dunois) Q1 (Remington): "What is your absolute goal as Chancellor, along with the Office of the Chancellor: what makes your University so unique? Considering you're the #1 publicly funded University in the State, is there anything you take pride in that most do not?" A1 (Dunois): " Good question. My goal will be to publicly establish the Chancellor's identity and honor its bestowed duty despite having served under five individual Chancellors in my career. There has never been a consistent identity for the Chancellor. Most don't even know what the Chancellor does outside of the obvious. I seek to change that and incorporate my decade-long experience with the Office of Student Affairs into the Office of the Chancellor. To answer the second part of your question. What makes ULSA unique is its diversity and focus on providing a balanced experience between extracurricular activities, academics, and community. I have personally dubbed it "a complete college experience." The University is about exploring yourself, your interests, and what you want to become. It is about investing in the future you'd be proud of, and lastly, it is about connecting with your fellows to get to know the people you will most likely work with in the coming generation. ULSA invests in all those key points equally, which makes us unique." Q2 (Remington): "Community is a strong topic within Los Santos, especially with the ULSA. Being in a leadership role for our future young minds, what is something you can guarantee from the Office of the Chancellor that gives motivation to our youth, teenagers, and current attended students at the ULSA?" A2 (Dunois): "I can guarantee that ULSA has a place for you regardless of who or where you come from. If you have the will to succeed and the spirit of building. ULSA will firmly stand behind you and support your endeavors. This approach is why I believe our animal mascot is very appropriate. Beavers are our natural builders. They use their engineering prowess to build and establish our nature's ecosystem, which benefits many more than just the beavers. The students at ULSA are our future. They are the ones who will build after us, establish the social ecosystem and maintain it after us, hence why ULSA has an enormous responsibility to our students." Q3 (Remington): "Security and Safety is a top priority for the ULSA. What do you think of your progress so far, and what may be some areas you think need to be improved with the help of the Government, and the local community, to ensure our students remain safe and secured?" A3 (Dunois): I'll be honest and give credit where credit is due. My work with security thus far has been more in the realm of maintaining what was already established, thanks to the fantastic work of our previous Chancellor, Nikos Karagiorgis. My contribution has been primarily on dedicating funds for equipment and vehicles. We just commissioned two Declasse Alamos to cover mountain terrain. Students often go on camping trips, and security does accompany them when they can. As far as areas I'd like to see improved. Our security could clearly do with some additional provisions in their authority to enforce university regulations. The university zoning act has been an immense help in establishing and allowing our security to finally flourish. However, getting the success rate for enforcement has been, in my opinion, below the expected levels. I hope the HELP committee in the Senate sees this and works towards improving and furthering our security's ability to protect our community members from bad-faith individuals. In the meantime, however, working with Law Enforcement Agencies has been bliss, and our relationships are healthy. 6. Hi there.
