  6. Los Santos Transit - The cure to this city's awful driving? By Nathan Hastings Image taken from Los Santos Transit Website Los Santos is notorious for its poor driving. In 2019, official government sources reported just over 54,000 traffic accidents and an announced 236 fatalities from these collisions alone. With this information in mind, it's hardly surprising that car insurance in Los Santos is on average 500.00 dollars higher per month than any other U.S State. When the roads are as hectic as they are, some less confident drivers may be put off using their car, whether for professional or personal use. If you're one of these people, then there's no need to worry - there are plenty of companies out there ready to make your journey to work more pleasurable, and most importantly safer. We sat down with Ricky Castellani, Managing Director of Los Santos Transit to discuss the company's current situation and where they plan on going in the future. See below for LSNN's exclusive interview: Ricky Castellani perches on his seat opposite me - well-groomed in what I would assume to be a fairly expensive suit, which is exactly the image you want your Managing Director to portray. We exchange pleasantries and have a quick mingle over a warm cup of joe, before delving right into it. Q. So, what's your position within LST? And how long have you held that post? A. I'm the Managing Director (MD), so I deal with the overall logistics of the company. Hiring, payroll... things like that. I've been with LST for a few months, but we were in the middle of some major management changes - I stepped in as the marketing director within the last month. Q. What services do LST currently provide? A. The new management wants us to put ourselves out there and make it known that Los Santos does indeed have it's own public transport. We currently offer taxi services and bus routes. (LSNN is under the understanding that all bus journeys are currently F.O.C) Q. Is LST privately owned or government-funded? A. It's a mix of both. We're a privately owned and operated business that put in a bid with the city to get funding to run the bus routes. So, we're privately owned but publicly funded, which means every nickel and dime has to be accounted for. Q. So, I understand that LST has recently released some new bus routes. Are you the brains behind that operation, and what has the response been like so far? A. I've never been the brains behind anything, but I'm flattered you'd think so! It was between the executives, myself and the drivers. We've come up with routes for places that we feel need more public transportation. We're currently looking at the USLA campus; more routes in Davis; and possibly even a longer route up to Blaine County. We're taking the feedback from what our passengers are saying and trying to apply it to the business to not only stay ahead of the competition but ensure that the residents of this city get a system that works for them. Q. It's refreshing to hear that you're taking the comments of the drivers on board, considering they're the ones out there on the routes. A. At the end of the day, I'm a house cat. I've never driven a bus in my life... but those men and women are the boots on the ground. It would be criminal of us if we didn't take their opinions into consideration. Q. In terms of competition, what's the LS transport scene like? Are you the big fish in a rather small pond? A. I wouldn't go that far - I don't want to talk ill on the competition, but I will say this: We didn't get the government contract because we're bad at what we do. Q. So, is LST hiring? And if so, where can people apply? A. Our staff roster is filling up quick, but we're still currently hiring. Anyone interested can apply on our website or send us an e-mail directly, which is also on our website. So there you have it - if you're one of the few that are less confident of stepping in to their own vehicle and taking the wheel, Los Santos Transit are there to help! It's abundantly clear that a service such as this is needed, when the roads have never been more dangerous - and it's pleasing to know that the Los Santos Government are fully behind them. This article is not paid for by Los Santos Transit. Are you a business owner or media relations consultant for a company? Want to get your services out in to the public eye? Then contact Nathan today on [email protected] ((Forum PM @SpeccsOps)) to arrange a 1 to 1 interview. VISIT OUR WEBSITE - CLICK HERE

  9. Short description: A new smell feature, to be implemented as a complete realistic system. New business type suggestion, offering a wide selection of fragrances. Detailed description: We will agree that the roleplay experience includes all of our characters' senses, except for the smell. It's rare to see a player stating the smell spreading out in a place. So why not have this new system, allowing us either to buy fragrances from specific stores (NEW BUSINESS TYPE SUGGESTION) or simply to smoke a cigarette, to automatically let your entourage know if your smell is pleasant or not. Whenever you [/useitem] a perfume, a cigarette, or whatever, a message can be submitted to characters within a determined range based on how strong is the smell (can be chosen from the variety of fragrances you buy from the store). A very small demonstration: (Please note that I used [/do] for demonstration purposes only, the formatting can be different, it will be up to the development team after all). To make it more realistic, a timer can be set after you use smelly products, so if you apply perfume on your body, the message would appear for maybe 3 hours or so. That way, we can assure continuous marketing for the suggested new type of businesses. This system can also be customized to include any flowers or any bad smells (i.e. trash, fart, etc..). Commands to add: The business script can have some more commands for fragrances. If not, the existing commands are completely enough, I'm referring to [/useitem]. Items to add: A new business script related to fragrances. Flower shops can be upgraded as well. How would your suggestion improve the server? An easy, realistic, and very unique system, we will be using all our character's senses. Additional information: Nothing to mention, thanks a lot!

  17. Hey! I think it would be fair to active business if the business that use business scripts such as tool stores, general stores, tobacco stores, liquor sotres etc would be disabled if there's no owner. Either that, or have all business of similar type throughout the entire map disabled whenever a store of the same type is open (Green on the map) instead of just the stores in the nearby vicinity. Currently stores within the vicinity of the open store close down whenever someone on duty at a store so people in the area will go to the occupied store, but bh I think generally speaking its not fair to have "NPC" stores on the map that are still accessible as long as they're far away enough from the active store while there's people actively trying to manage & run stores on this server, despite the distance from the city. Even if my general store is open in blaine, people could simply oocly shop at a store in the city that has no manager which I dpn't think is fair when there's people actually putting in effort in runnig a store. which is why I think stores that aren't owned by any players should not be active on the server. Maybe just disable them so u can easily enable them if players were looking to own them. Let me know what you think ?
  18. Please keep this discussion civil, as I'd rather encourage an open dialog rather than getting this closed in less than 24 hours. Tagging @Keane as this is part of what I feel should be more of a discussion of role play quality, rather than a suggestion. I put it in general so that this could be more of an open discussion rather than just suggesting a concrete rule change in the rules section. Two parts to this issue, one is not portraying the economy correctly and the other is businesses selling items at unrealistic prices because of the business bonus. This may be just me, but I'm going to put this out here anyways. Most businesses (bars, coffee shops, nightclubs, etc.) that have access to the business bonus sell products at or near 100% loss. Why isn't this an issue? Bartenders keep all the money from alcohol sales as their salary for the night. How does that make sense? Beers that sell for $60 in an alcohol store are sold for $30 or less in some places. Coffee shops sell products far below their actual value. For example, coffee shops selling coffees (custom made items) for $4, when they cost more to actually make the item through the custom item script. Donuts and sandwiches being sold for less than $10 when they cost much more than that in a 24/7. Business owners have no care in the world to sell these items at a realistic price point based on the GTAW economy because they don't care about the loss. This is not how businesses are supposed to run, in GTAW or otherwise. I believe this creates confusion as to how this economy works and leads to people expecting real world prices. This is why you see people complain about a $400 door fee, when in actuality $400 is nothing in the GTAW world. This is why you see people complain when a drink is $200 in a bar, because other businesses sell them for much less at a complete loss (because pricing doesn't inherently matter with the business bonus). It's not supposed to be based on a 1:1 real world dollar to GTAW dollar. For me, this is a huge issue and I believe it creates a continuity issue for this economy. If we're role playing inflated incomes (paychecks at $500+ an hour), we should be role playing inflated price points for everything else. If a sandwich costs $90 in a 24/7, it shouldn't be sold for $4 in a business. That's just stupid. It should be one or the other in this case. If GTAW administration is going for an inflated economy where it isn't a 1:1 real world to GTAW dollar ratio, then everything after that should be enforced as a role play quality standard. Businesses should not be selling items at a complete loss, they should be selling at realistic prices based on what they actually bought the item for in order to make a profit. That's how business works. Businesses should not be selling items for real world prices, they should be inflated to what GTAW administration have established as realistic within our in-game economy. If people want real world prices, then the economy needs to be revamped to reflect real world incomes and many other factors (which I don't think is feasible). There needs to be some intervention here as I have seen this get more and more common in-game with expectation of real world pricing, whether it is door fees, drink prices, custom product prices, etc. Discuss.
  19. Short description: The current system of how businesses sell their products is very unrealistic. Generally what happens now is the employees sell the item (custom made, alcohol, etc.) and keep the money from the sale of the item as well as any tips a customer may give them. This is no where near realistic and only viable because businesses profit from the business bonus. This needs to be changed so that the ecosystem of businesses can improve. Detailed description: First part - Establishments that sell alcohol (Bars, Clubs, & Lounges, not liquor stores) (This is going to be a little long, with more than one part) Allow alcoholic establishments (bars & clubs) to obtain access to the liquor purchasing script that is used in consumer-based liquor stores. Bars and clubs are basically larger, liquor stores in reality. I would suggest that only employees (designated through the business manager) to be able to access the menu through pressing "Y" just as you would in a regular store. The only addition I would suggest is for the business owner to be able to designate custom prices from within the business manager for the existing selections (if possible). Basically, the RP for a customer buying a drink would be the same. The customer would order a drink, the bartender would RP making it and collect the price of the drink + hopefully a tip. The bartender would use the liquor menu to purchase the alcohol instead of accessing the property inventory to get the item. This would ensure the sale of the alcohol goes to the business, while the bartender keeps the tip. This also makes for the argument to allow bartenders access to the hourly stipend, as it would be the same type of job as working at a restaurant or coffee shop as a server or barista. It's a win-win scenario for both the business owner and the worker. Instead of a business owner purchasing alcohol from a consumer facing store and placing it in their property inventory, they would have to purchase components just like all other liquor stores do in order for there to be alcohol in-stock. This helps to simulate liquor being purchased at a lower cost through a supplier as well as alcohol to be sold at a decent price, while still making a profit. Those worried about liquor stores losing revenue, I can understand that. However, alcohol-based businesses would normally work through a supplier not a customer-facing liquor store. Liquor stores can still operate and receive money from the public coming in to buy alcohol, especially when nothing else is open. This change would do several things: It would tie bars, clubs & lounges into the closed ecosystem for supply & demand of products for trucking purposes. Truckers would be able to deliver crates to bars & nightclubs who would be in need of components to supply the alcohol from within the script. This would more closely tie into what would happen realistically where a supplier would bring the alcohol to a business rather than the owner going to buy his own alcohol from a local liquor store meant primarily for consumers, not businesses. It would ensure that the sale of each product actually goes to the business, rather than the employee keeping 100% of the sale proceeds. This ensure a healthy business RP that more closely resembles what really happens. The employee would still receive the hourly stipend as well as any tips they procure during their shift. Second part - Establishments using custom made items Any custom made item should be recorded in a transaction log (if it isn't already), based on the employee who created it. Showing something like: [Employee] Charles Hanson created 1 x Glazed Donut [Employee] Sylvia Brenner created 2 x Green Tea This transaction log would then be used by the business owner to collect the sales of products at the end of shift, ensuring the business benefits from selling products while making sure employees receive the hourly stipend and any tips they collected. Yes, I'm suggesting the business owner has to do some small math calculations for each employee to ensure they collect the right amount from them at the end of each shift. Welcome to running a business! ? How would your suggestion improve the server? I feel the server is long overdue for an overhaul of the way businesses operate. It's highly unrealistic for businesses to sell products at a complete loss (even though they get a bonus), where the employees keep 100% of the sales as well as the tips. This system would move the business RP in a more realistic direction, where businesses have to make their price points realistic and profitable. That's the point of running a business at the end of the day. Workers in bars would also now benefit from the hourly stipend since they are in a service-based business, just like restaurant servers or people working in custom item shops. The trucking industry would get a boost in delivery locations now as bars will also need component deliveries to ensure their stock for alcohol. There are a lot of benefits to modifying these certain aspects of business RP. I feel it would benefit the server in many ways and help to push the business/economy in a better direction.

  21. It would be nice if I could set the min component capacity even lower than 15000 to like 5000 or something. I've got a biz in the county with a small storage room and I generally don't sell as much as businesses in the city would, so it takes ages for my stock to run dry. It would be great to be able to set it even lower for the sake of realism. This may also help to keep the trucker shipment list filled as it tends to run empty pretty often
  22. I am looking to sell my taxi company (The Walrus Business Taxi). The company comes with 4 Vapid Stainer taxis and an office. Everything is located in Pillbox. The company currently has 11 drivers and Employee percent share is currently set at 90%. (( Yes you get the cut after every taxi fare paid with /paytaxi )) I am taking offers over private messages! Also if you have any question feel free to contact me. Pictures: Office building: Office interior: Vehicles: Map location: Dashboard: Drivers: Taxi fares: Business bank:
  23. Short description: When entering a building a settable text that you can add that pops up in chat the first time you enter to give ambient details about the interior, such as smell or details you wouldn't be able to add through physical decoration due to game restraints. Detailed description: Currently there is no way to give additional details when entering a business or home unless you /do and tell each person. Working at a shop in the game, we inform each customer when they enter about what sort of items they'd see around the store. It can get spammy when you get 5 people enter within a few seconds of each other and you need to do it for each customer. I'd suggest a command similar to attributes that sets a description for the store that pops up in your personal chat each time you enter a building. I believe this could work well for personal homes too to add an extra layer of roleplay depth. Commands to add: /pattributes or /bmotd Items to add: A command and the ability to set the command as a property owner. How would your suggestion improve the server? It would add another layer of roleplay depth to homes and businesses.
