  1. No, that's not what I am suggesting. I am talking about fixed punishments, check my previous replies here.
  2. And why should criminal (and legal in some instances) players have to walk on eggshells when this issue can simply be addressed by setting fixed punishments depending on the rule that was broken? This is what I'd personally suggest, 3 punishment tiers. Let's say a player powergamed. An admin will be able to choose to ajail them for 15, 30 and 45 minutes for example, given the severity of the situation. If a player has been ajailed X times in a month, they'll be temp-banned for X amount of days. This would actually help immensely if you think about it, because everyone will be on the same page, admins and players alike.
  3. This isn't a sport. This shouldn't be happening, I get getting a verbal warning from an admin and a written one from the next, but I've spoken to countless players, scoured the report player section and have arrived at this conclusion, the punishments vary wildly when they shouldn't. It'd be great if we could get some input from actual admins on this.
  4. Hi everyone! I'd like to start a discussion as far as admin punishments are concerned. In light with the recent news about LC opening up as a medium roleplay server, I wanted to have a glimpse into most people's perspective on this topic. What mainly prompted me to start this discussion is reading what Nervous had said on his announcement, "If you don't particularly like LS's heavy roleplay environment etc...". And I say, well, the issue isn't that the server's standards are very high ( that's fine ), it's that players actually don't know how to behave in order to avoid getting punished. For example, if a player does X, they'll get X punishment. That's not how it currently works. To sum it up, if 5 different admins respond to a situation, you could have 5 different outcomes, which is something that should change in my opinion. It's not fair nor logical to do the exact same thing and for example get a warning from some admin and then a ban from another. I am well aware that (some) admins check for several things before deciding whether to issue a punishment and what kind it'll be, such as a player's previous record, their attitude during the course of the admin situation or forum report, how remorseful they are, the impact of their actions on other players, the mood of the particular admin at that moment and many more. Please be civil to each other.
  5. And characters that roleplay "criminal activities" as you say have to abide by more rules, which is unfair and a double standard, and basically everything I said in my previous reply.
  6. By signing up to the most popular English text-based roleplay server on Grand Theft Auto V, it's quite evident that you might be the victim of a crime, whether poorly planned or not. All players should be held to the same standards, regardless of what they're choosing to roleplay. Otherwise simply split the servers in two, one for criminals and one for the civilians. Someone should take a look at the Report Player section, how many reports against civilians do you see versus how many against criminals and especially gangbangers? As someone who has experienced the 2010 LSRP era and mostly what came afterwards, including the eventual migration to GTA V - I have to say that the way criminals are treated by the management and the legal community both ICly and OOCly is with disdain. A necessary evil in their eyes simply to keep the money rolling in, and when they make too much noise? We ban them guys! No problem! Right? Who needs these pesky stick-up men and the rest of the street ( and organized ) criminals? Criminal roleplayers are simply tolerated, not embraced or supported by the management and the wider community. Change my mind with evidence.
  7. You're absolutely right that PvP leads to more reports. The fact is that criminal roleplayers shouldn't have to abide by more rules than their civilian counterparts. It's as if there are two separate servers within one. The rules should be the same for everybody, isn't that only fair?
  8. Stop punishing people for choosing to roleplay criminals. The rules say that it's not allowed to make a character solely to rob people, but civilian roleplayers are allowed to have a character solely to visit clubs and drive around? Criminal roleplayers also have to abide by more rules compared to civilians. On top of that, players shouldn't be punished unless another player has been negatively affected by their conduct. It literally doesn't make sense to ajail / warn / kick / ban a player for something they did that did not affect anyone. Try to change my mind about it if you can.
  9. People come here to play, not to write essays. People need to realize this. No one in their right mind would prioritize this over studying or working, putting everything behind an essay and having 50 different administrative sub-teams to handle applications all day long simply increases their workload and doesn't prove anything besides that whoever wrote the essay had more time on their hands OOCly than some other players.
